I've had the same Epiphone Gothic Explorer for...7 or 8 years now. Love that guitar. Only thing I've ever had to replace on it was the nut. I have EMGs in mine now but...still my favorite guitar.

that's right, in order to play anything on Shogun, you'll need a 7 string or tune down to B standard, and Throes of Perdition is the hardest one to play on the album in my opinion

Well, I had to wabcams, so I used one of them just a microphone (put it on the front of the amp) and used the other one just as a camera. :)

Well, it works, I was blown away when I first got it 3 years ago, but the last year, I've lost the interest in it. Probably because that I want a better tone, more like a tube amp. But of course (as I said), it works, but it's better pedals out there.

That's an ebony fretboard, correct? I was looking at this guitar online at Guitar Center and the only thing keeping me from purchasing it was the fretboard. It's listed as rosewood on their site. Hey Lewis! The only advice I have for you is to practice your alternate picking with a metronome. Start at a slow tempo, and then after you've been playing at the same tempo some times, speed gradually up and play it some times and do the same shape. When you start to recognize you're picking with your arm again, start from a slow and comfortable tempo and start practice it the way I told you once again.

That's the way I practice when I'm stuck with something, and it really helps! All you need is patience.

The neck on this guitar weights a little more than the body I think, so if you're standing with this guitar, you'll recognize that it's "falls down".

The size of the body might be a little problem, especially if you don't have any good space in the room you're playing in. It's easy to scratch your guitar to a lot of things, and you don't want to do that right?

the guitar falls down becaus one lock is not on the back of the guitar on the place just right next to where the neck of the guitar goes into the body, the lock on that guitar is on de side of it and that makes it fall down, of you switch the lock the the place right next to the neck it won't fall down anymore =) the most gibson explorers have it on the back side, don't kwon why they made it different on the epiphones.

The frets are good I think, I haven't got any problems with them, and I don't think I will either.

The only bad thing with this guitar is the pickups. They aren't that special.

But all in all, it's a great guitar, especially for it's price!

i think if u want to play stuff like, metallica, megadeth, trivium and whatnot u should get the Jackson KVX10 X King V. if u get some nice pickups this thing is crazy. especially because u can go crazy on the tremelo and it wont go out of tune like my fender strat. but the fender is definitley good for blues classic rock or reggae.
