well...as far as that goes...you can kidna say that is because the world economy now is better then it was a century ago (i'm pretty sure great brittain now has more economic and military power then back then). and for political that can be partly because of how our technology has advance and how "small" the world has become. as for cultural...that is too opinionated for anyone to make a solid case on.

I thought Britain always had a lot of military and economic power since we were in the forefront of industrialisation and moving from that to modernisation. Britain's military power was always strong, but it seems to be getting weaker - I think our history (e.g British Empire, the wars Britain fought in etc) proves how powerful our military were.

However, the way our nation runs is fine (though a bit too relaxed when dealing with non-Brits and the unemployed).
