From watching this video these guys don't know how to properly tune an Evo. They are great with V8's but the Evo isn't tuned right what soever. A built motor and 67mm turbo, you could easily push 35+PSI on that evo, probably didn't add injectors like anyone with common sense would to a turbo vehicle. The low psi is probably because they didn't upgrade the headstuds as well to handle the pressure. Lots of unanswered questions here for me. I own an Evo 8, mine would smoke those vettes.

@ibanezkid07 EGR(Exhaust Gas Recirculation) In normal cars the burnt ehxaust gas is recirculated from the exhaust an back through the intake to reduce emmisions, a EGR block off plate blocks the dirty exhaust from going back into the intake, but it also increses knock(detonation) so you will have to use a higher octane gas like super or premium

This car is undoubtedly tuned on pump gas and a 67mm on 25psi is nothing. Throw E85/C16 in it and 35psi and he would've put bus links on those cars. It's probably a conservatively tuned 425-450ish whp car. This setup has the potential to run 9s in the 1/4. Vettes are nice but it's pretty obvious to anyone that this Evo is not tuned properly.
No this is not a stock turbo evo.. if you knew anything about what you were talking about you could have been able to tell this by the engine bay shot.. Stock turbos are internally gated, this one has an external wastegate and is much larger than factory.
I am Corvette fan and would have to agree. The EVO should be faster than a base C6 LS3 with a 67mm turbo @ 25 psi. Now an LS3 with bolt-ons and a cam might be a different story. some have trapped 130 mph still N/A on 93 octane. You won't screw with a TT LS3 C6 600+ rwhp still on 93 octane.

You have to take into account the size of th turbo. If you look at it, it doesnt look a whole lot bigger than stock. Stock runs 19 psi... So if stock it will do 250whp at 19 psi I dont think he's over 400whp at 25psi. Now if he ran on 35 psi, he could be around 500-600 (my guess).

Um....FAIL. The atmosphere on earth is about 14.7 lbs. It also is NOT included in the "lbs" a guy is running. If we did not have 14.7lbs of pressure of air on earth WE couldn't breath. It is why all motors run, it has nothing to do with the amount of extra boost a car is running.
Evo's are nice running cars, and I have been beaten a few times by them, and beat a couple. They are very fast and can be modded very easy. Respect the power, even if you don't like the car.

I agree 100% That setup has a ton of potential, the tuner clearly failed. That car looks slower than a properly tuned stock turbo evo... very disappointing.

a 67 mm turbo may be alittle to big for the evo. the motor still has to kick out the exhaust to spin it. it may not be a tuneing issue. I know its hard for tunners to beleave but the evo may not have had enough motor to beat the vette.(before any one things im partial to the vette i own a mustang)

If that evo 8 is a built motor and a 35r kit on it @ 25 psi all i can say is "WHAT" that did not seem like it was 25 psi or not tuned @ all i have an evo x now @ 19 psi im over 400hp with a 35r and thats me tuning it. i dont want to criticize but get a better tuner. or simply get and EVO tuner.

This car is undoubtedly tuned on pump gas and a 67mm on 25psi is nothing. Throw E85/C16 in it and 35psi and he would've put bus links on those cars. It's probably a conservatively tuned 425-450ish whp car. This setup has the potential to run 9s in the 1/4. Vettes are nice but it's pretty obvious to anyone that this Evo is not tuned properly.

No this is not a stock turbo evo.. if you knew anything about what you were talking about you could have been able to tell this by the engine bay shot.. Stock turbos are internally gated, this one has an external wastegate and is much larger than factory.

I am Corvette fan and would have to agree. The EVO should be faster than a base C6 LS3 with a 67mm turbo @ 25 psi. Now an LS3 with bolt-ons and a cam might be a different story. some have trapped 130 mph still N/A on 93 octane. You won't screw with a TT LS3 C6 600+ rwhp still on 93 octane.

@z71rews Youre right. the vette is a hard car to take down on a highway. Dont however think for a second that the evo is a dyno queen though. A stock evo 8/9 will show its tail lights to most cars, including some vettes, on road courses. Evo's were built to perform on tracks and on dirt, unlike the vette whose sole purpose is to add on 2 inches to the driver

Pretty good races but that evo should have ran much harder than that. My buddy has been a 7.27 at 93 in the eight with only arp headstuds, arp rod bolts, cams, exhaust and a fp red on 30psi, and destroys vettes all day long. Oh yeh thats on 93 pump and meth.

You have to take into account the size of th turbo. If you look at it, it doesnt look a whole lot bigger than stock. Stock runs 19 psi... So if stock it will do 250whp at 19 psi I dont think he's over 400whp at 25psi. Now if he ran on 35 psi, he could be around 500-600 (my guess).

mebe....its all about flow rate....i've made 375 with a small 16-g pushin it to the max.28psi
then made 400 with a s256 bep at 22psi. the inducer and exducer size on the turbo means alot on flow and volume of air it can push.
i still think it has alot more avalible in it.

@ISAH23I if that. i had an evo with about 340awhp with bolt ons and i killed stock vettes from a roll. these being only bolt on vettes, if that evo was a fully built engine and was running 25 psi which is weak for a fully built engine (i was running 23psi on a bolt on evo) that thing should kill those cars.

Um....FAIL. The atmosphere on earth is about 14.7 lbs. It also is NOT included in the "lbs" a guy is running. If we did not have 14.7lbs of pressure of air on earth WE couldn't breath. It is why all motors run, it has nothing to do with the amount of extra boost a car is running.
Evo's are nice running cars, and I have been beaten a few times by them, and beat a couple. They are very fast and can be modded very easy. Respect the power, even if you don't like the car.

a 67 mm turbo may be alittle to big for the evo. the motor still has to kick out the exhaust to spin it. it may not be a tuneing issue. I know its hard for tunners to beleave but the evo may not have had enough motor to beat the vette.(before any one things im partial to the vette i own a mustang)

okay first of all i will give you guys credit for all of those who enjoy corvettes. But i gotta tell you guys, i have owned evos since they came out and tuned by tuned by ams. If that evo 8 is a built motor and a 35r kit on it @ 25 psi all i can say is "WHAT" that did not seem like it was 25 psi or not tuned @ all i have an evo x now @ 19 psi im over 400hp with a 35r and thats me tuning it. i dont want to criticize but get a better tuner. or simply get and EVO tuner.

this race seems to be a gearing race, that evo pulled til he hit 3rd and it was game over, gotta think them vettes were geared for max speed plus them ls series v8 engines in them things are one of the best v8s ever made. no worries i love that evo, i myself would love to own an evo, them 4g63 engines can put out some good power when tuned properly.
