You notice how much different the piano part sounds with Brubeck throwing in that sixteenth note pick-up? I actually like the album version better without the pick-up note. With the pick-up note and increased tempo it sounds a bit too swingy and less characteristically "Take Five."
One of a tiny number ( you can count them on two hands) of supreme masterpieces of the jazz canon! This tune is rendered so expertly by these musical geniuses that most don't realize how many incredibly complex things are going on here simultaneously! This is why I never tire of or cease to be amazed by this no matter how many thousands of times I hear it!!
I just wish I could play an instrument !!!
