  • Loved the movie... It's so sad, your cut was very sweet. It's nice to see Seita and Setsuko in a happy movie, they deserve it. T_T

  • dat was a very sad movie.

  • >,> urr okay.

  • dude this movie made me cry even got depressed and nice amv check out mine k!! peace!!

  • Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it. :D

The music I used for this is composed by Hans Zimmer. The title is "You're So Cool" (I'm not 100% sure that's the real title because I got the song off of a friend).

  • Once you have seen the film, this trailer seems very odd and backwards...but you've done a really really good job on it here.

  • Thanks. Yeah I was trying to make it progress backwards as well but it was hard to do it consistently. Good observation. :D

  • dood u did a good job, i respect u.

and of cos that author too.

i and my gal cried unknowingly when watching this movie. thanks dood. nice and good job

  • Thank you. Yes I agree that the author deserves some mad respect. I too cried as well when I first saw this film more than 15 years ago.

  • good vid

but just want to say GOD THIS MUSICAL SCORE IS SO GOOD. It's just one of those magical songs that takes you elsewhere and lifts ya up

  • I'm glad you enjoyed the vid. I think you're the first person to comment directly about the musical score. :D

  • lol this video is happy... but the movie is extremely depressing... but it's a good way to view a trailer and not have tears drop out of ur eyes

  • Nice job,I like that you made it seem like a happy little tale.rather then the tragic movie it is.

  • Thanks. I hope my teacher had the same reaction because that's what the assignment goal was: to produce the opposite effect. :D

  • excellent video five stars

  • Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. :)

  • Excellent post, excellent job!!!!

  • Thanks, glad you liked it. :)

  • Hah! This is so backwards! (I know it's a storyboarding assignment) I bet if I showed this to someone I could convince them to watch it and they'd be totally surprised!

  • Yeah, it could potentially catch them off guard but I'm sure the crappy editing on my part will give it away that it's not really an official trailer. XD

  • people sure love to not read the description. Yes, Grave of the Fireflies was rather depressing I guess.

  • Haha yeah... seems a lot of people don't want to read anything I said in the description before they commented.

  • I know how annoying. I think you did a great job. 5'd :)

  • it's too long and it kills our interest in reading it

  • People's laziness and unwillingness to read isn't my problem. It's theirs.

  • good video, but it doesn't really show what the movie is about, if i watched this before i saw the movie, i wouldn't have a clue i'd be balling my eyes out at the end.

  • This was a storyboarding asingment. The goal of this assignment was to make a trailer for an opposite genere. For example cutting "The Shining" (a horror movie) as if it were a comedy. Thus I cut this so that it seemed like a feel good story rather than a movie depicting the aftermath of war.

  • Where can I watch this movie?

  • Try searching for it on Amazon or some other online store that specializes in DVDs

  • The first time I saw the Japanese version, I cried like a newborn baby. And I am a guy. You did a great job with this.

  • Thank you. I cried when I watched it too. T_T

  • omg its so well done, but that makes the actual movie seem more depressing :( two thumbs up on it but now i feel doubly sad...

  • I'm agree with you, men -_-

  • Thank you. Yes, I'm glad I was able to bring about that kind of result with this.

  • Wow... love this! :D

  • Thank you, I'm glad you like it. :D

  • Amazing, how you make it seem like the total opposite! Well done! Hope your teacher was impressed as well. ;)

  • Thank you.

  • ...that "friends" part was way off from the original story. brilliant! and although it's a cartoon, it was based on a semi-autobiographical novel...so still very touching.

  • Thank you.

  • ..Bloody hell...even Takahata admitted that the film's final message is supposed to be uplifting- a triumph of the human spirit over adverse circumstances. Remember, it's only a Cartoon! Not Real life!! Save your crocodile tears for something real. Like Chechnya.

  • Thank you.

  • Well done for making such a nice, uplifting trailer. It goes well with the movie. Don't take any notice of these embarassing, misery-ladened, wet faced, human specimens. They know nothing at all except for celebrating soppy, cringe-inducing, sentimental-laced amv's with the likes of Celine Dion quivering like a wet fish.

  • the music and description seemed to be of little relevance to the main theme of the story. some joyful childhood experience - that's what you're trying to convey, which is a total antithesis of the original story.

  • okay, great little clip thing, but omg seeing this i would think that it was a sweet, happy family movie or something, but its so far from that. i sobbed when i saw this movie, and these happy clips and this happy song, dont really show what its all about. but it was well made.

  • its weird how they say " a heart warmign story" its an eye opener, but definately not something i would leave the theatre smiling to myself about. wonderful film ^^
