I want to buy this game so bad, but my computer sucks and I was just wondering if anyone could tell me the specs to run this at max graphics and all? If so thanks!

il-2 1946 just bought it for about 14Eu. i got 200 aircraft, plenty of campaigns and fun MP action out of the box(even more if you count the awesome mods and updates). this game wins the visual part, but looses on anything else. most of the content is in DLC, the interface is less than friendly(customizing your controls is hell) and it still needs optimization(plus it needs a fairly beefed up PC). downgrade eye candy and renovate the menus and finally i would like to buy a full game.

This game looks great on the trailer, but its actually a very poor game. To enjoy it alittle you have to put alot of money into it. They make you buy the planes. The programmers for the game are very fly by night, pun intended... This game is so riddled with glitches it's ridiculous. I wouldnt pay 5 dollars for this game and suggest you dont either unless you like seeing the windows problem alerts.
I was thinking of buying this, but I can't see anything that says I will be able to play this with my brother on a LAN or anything. I'd feel like too much of a jackass saying to him, "sorry but you've got to pay sixty bucks to play a game we already own".

@Brewchief2002 Hello. If you don't have ROF copy yet, then ROF:ICE is a good choice. There is 8 flyable planes, hundreds of additional skins in the package and more. But if you have the game already you should better visit the online game shop, we have a short period of great sale for additional aircraft. The game, purchased prior to ROF:ICE edition, is copletely compatible with it.
@neoqb Hey I wanted to ask what are the benefits of buying the full version of the game as opposed to downloading the demo? I am only asking this as you get 4 planes for an average of about £30 on the full version, but you can download the demo for two planes and buy another two at the store for £10? I bought the full game and am still waiting for the delivery of a joystick, but i'm just curious about this marketing tactic ^.^
Hey NEOQB maybe you should try to make a game thats fun...and I play a lot of flight sims as im a pilot in real life, so hmmmmm blows your theory out the door as I play Flight war sims alot...This one is hard to control...and you are forced to take targets that you may not want to take on...DEMO is a BAD example of this game...it suxs
@Shado8888 Civilian aircraft fly very differently from Great War fighters. I've flown real Cessnas, too. But I've also done some basic research; old warplanes are drastically different in handling. The real planes were hard to control!

@Shado8888 Thank you! This means that we created a highly realistic flight simulator indeed! Most of the airplane is made from wooden carcase and fabric, and yes real bullets sew it through. As for you, you should really try some simple arcades for fun and bright colours.

@Shado8888 maybe you should aim for the wings or fuel tanks, if you are behind a plane and you're just shooting the tail not much will happen, because there is nothing in the tail.
@Shado8888 have you ever been in an airplane? I started my pilot training in Cessna 150, a month ago. and I know exactly what the plane looks like.... you can fire 100 bullets in the fuselage, and that won't affect the pilot's safety :D if you want to shoot down a plane, you MUST hit the fuel tanks, engine, rudder, vertical rudder or pilot himself :) that't the only way. I haven't played this game, but i think it's quite realistic, judging other people's talking :)
If you are thinking about buying this game, then do. It's worth it. Yes, the flight models are somtimes strange, or the developers are sometimes not instant in replying to your requests, but believe me, once you shoot down you first plane, you will forget all that. Once in the air, you are immersed in a different world. For the game that it is, 30£ is very little. Also, have a look at the damage model and physics in other videos, that will convince you!

Is there any sort of 'mod' or something that allows you to drive or control those ground vehicles (tanks, trucks, cars, boats, etc.) just for fun? Like on single-player free-flight? I would REALLY like to see this at some point, and as for the developers, maybe if you maybe slapped on some cooler, more high-detailed textures, you could make some money by selling them for $5 or so a pop as DLC, just for fun, of course. If not a mod would be REALLY cool! :D
This game is beautiful to view, but when it comes to shooting down enemy planes, it's almost impossible. You're so close to that plane that you can see it's marking and fire burst after burst into it, yet nothing happens. Make some of these bullets tracers so we can see where the hell the bullets are going.
@pinheadq41 I can't quite see your point there... a.) Bullets have tracers, and you see exactly where they go and what they hit (or not) b.) Bullets can also go straight through canvas c.) this game requires patience, once you get used to the game, after about 1-2 weeks, then you'll start to see results. You can't just hop in and play. This isn't IL-2 Birds of Prey. Wasting round in the rear part of the fuselage is pointless, aim for the engine or the wings
If you want a game where the flight models are realistic, then you will be very disappointed. They are so lopsided that you might as well forget about flying as the Germans. Half of the German planes are slower than history tells us. Some that you will pay extra for aren't even competetive. When people argued that the German planes weren't meeting their advertised perfromance, NEOQCB changed the advertisement to reflect their underrated values.

I wil buy the game when it doesn't have that draconian DRM anymore. So I'll wait, I've bought Over Flanders Fields: Between Heaven and Hell (pretty odd that nobody referred to that game in this topic) for in the mean time. I take an totally dynamic campaign over better graphics anyday.
Don't get me wrong, I really like Rise of Flight as far as I can see, played Knights Of The Sky till I dropped and RoF is the spiritual successor.
I think ppl are just pissed off and whining that they made the game harder to pirate so they actually want it but have to pay and so it makes them angry.
This game is worth it there always someone playing Multy and the game graphics are stunning the detail in the game is amazing I am still finding details and I have had this game for over 1 month and I play 6-8hrs a day. there a 4 flyable planes and another 3 that you can buy. they are releasing more planes and more game play. Its a great game 9.8/10!
Don't bother, a quick look at the policies of these money-grubbing a-holes and you'll agree.....must be online at ALL times to authenticate only 2 planes and they milk your wallet to buy more, all eye-candy and ZERO replayability...bad AI, bad mission editor..no online play (noones there, because they hate these people as much as I do)...no skinning/customization, etc etc
Agreed - man I was sorely disappointed with this sim. Ridiculous registration and a confirmation needed on each startup, unless ANOTHER patch is needed to download. If you haven't purchased - avoid this title like the plague. Too bad too - once you get to the flying its great. Just not worth the crap to go through to get their!
Be sure to check out Rise of Flight website - especially the forum. Lots of problems with this one. The security on this one is way over the top - if you buy it you will be the ONLY owner.
8600's below the recommended minimum video chip, as is 256Mb of RAM on the card. People running minimum specs are complaining about game performance on low, so I'd say you need more powa.. I stepped up from my 8600 or I'd put it in and let you know what happens, but again, I doubt it'd do very well.
Didn't notice you were talking about a laptop.. their GPU's are usually comparable to lower spec desktop cards. Like my laptop has a 9800M GTS, but it's performance is more on par with an 8800GS, in a desktop system. Unfortunate, but true.
depends on what you define as run.......your bottleneck will def be your video card, but turning down the visual aspects of the game should help make it at least playable but maybe not breathtaking : )

Their website has been updated for English speaking folks recently but its pretty sparse info wise. I guess once the game launches in NA that will change.
The game certainly looks good from what I have seen on youtube. Nice to see a WW1 flying sim again. I wish them much luck.
June. The situation they decided on was weird. They released it in Russia and CIS countries on May 7, but they didn't go for an international release until all copies in Russia and the CIS nations are sold out...
Good thing there's only 17000 copies total over there.
They are testing the market, making it a small release, fixing bugs, preparing the markets, test groups, etc. That is likely why they only released it first on a small scale.

No, they ARE crazy. Even if you're playing singleplayer, you have to connect to their server before and after every single mission. REQUIREMENT of game is 128 Kb min connection. Way to shoot yourselves in the face, neoqb.
Well I agree that the specs. are a bit steep,but for that you get something stunning...And you don't have to play at the max. graphics settings either.
So will there be a land campaign transpiring below as part of the AI? It would be mega cool just go on reconnaissance missions to observe the enemy's movements and watch the futile battles unfold...

I will say that I liked the "FIVE HUNDRED BULLETS, TWO MACHINE GUNS, ONE WINNER" touch to the end, along with the cool sound effect when the poster of the hawk and eagle and title flicked on at the very last part.
Though, they might want to correct that bit about the bullets. Most German planes carried 500 shots on belts for each Spandau machine gun. Most allied planes only carried 500 total. It was weird, but then again, the German Air Service was better than any Entente or American one.
Well maybe only 500 bullets actually hit the target of that particular duel or maybe even 250 from each gun or say 500 went through and 500 stayed in the planes, Come on guys, dont' rivet count this game to hell before it's released :) (or should I say bullet count haha)

This game is completely realistic, and no planes don't have health bars on top that make the plane explode when it reaches 0.
What did you expect, fast modern jets with heat seeking missiles?
These are like the FIRST fight planes EVER, so screw off and play your simple arcade games, they should be realistic and "easy" for you.

These guys need to learn English before they try to do their marketing in English. They can't even get the grammar right on the trailer, to the extent that the text is genuinely unintelligible. Makes the game seem extremely amateur.

I wil buy the game when it doesn't have that draconian DRM anymore. So I'll wait, I've bought Over Flanders Fields: Between Heaven and Hell (pretty odd that nobody referred to that game in this topic) for in the mean time. I take an totally dynamic campaign over better graphics anyday.
Don't get me wrong, I really like Rise of Flight as far as I can see, played Knights Of The Sky till I dropped and RoF is the spiritual successor.

The reason you have to pay is to sustain the company,since it's tiny comared to Ubisorf or so,
they need the little bits like aircraft to give them long lasting money. Even so,you already have 4 planes,and the £4.56 aren't that much,c'mon.

This game is worth it there always someone playing Multy and the game graphics are stunning the detail in the game is amazing I am still finding details and I have had this game for over 1 month and I play 6-8hrs a day. there a 4 flyable planes and another 3 that you can buy. they are releasing more planes and more game play. Its a great game 9.8/10!

Don't bother, a quick look at the policies of these money-grubbing a-holes and you'll agree.....must be online at ALL times to authenticate only 2 planes and they milk your wallet to buy more, all eye-candy and ZERO replayability...bad AI, bad mission editor..no online play (noones there, because they hate these people as much as I do)...no skinning/customization, etc etc

Agreed - man I was sorely disappointed with this sim. Ridiculous registration and a confirmation needed on each startup, unless ANOTHER patch is needed to download. If you haven't purchased - avoid this title like the plague. Too bad too - once you get to the flying its great. Just not worth the crap to go through to get their!

8600's below the recommended minimum video chip, as is 256Mb of RAM on the card. People running minimum specs are complaining about game performance on low, so I'd say you need more powa.. I stepped up from my 8600 or I'd put it in and let you know what happens, but again, I doubt it'd do very well.

Didn't notice you were talking about a laptop.. their GPU's are usually comparable to lower spec desktop cards. Like my laptop has a 9800M GTS, but it's performance is more on par with an 8800GS, in a desktop system. Unfortunate, but true.

depends on what you define as run.......your bottleneck will def be your video card, but turning down the visual aspects of the game should help make it at least playable but maybe not breathtaking : )

Their website has been updated for English speaking folks recently but its pretty sparse info wise. I guess once the game launches in NA that will change.
The game certainly looks good from what I have seen on youtube. Nice to see a WW1 flying sim again. I wish them much luck.

June. The situation they decided on was weird. They released it in Russia and CIS countries on May 7, but they didn't go for an international release until all copies in Russia and the CIS nations are sold out...

They are testing the market, making it a small release, fixing bugs, preparing the markets, test groups, etc. That is likely why they only released it first on a small scale.
At least, this is what many companies I work for do.

Yeah, that's just what I was thinking. Most people today don't even have a RAM amount of 3GB, and most people don't have a video card with 768MB.

Depends what resolution ur running at you might want more ram on the gfx card. 3 gigs of ram is semi standard now, 6 gigs is more future proof.

No, they ARE crazy. Even if you're playing singleplayer, you have to connect to their server before and after every single mission. REQUIREMENT of game is 128 Kb min connection. Way to shoot yourselves in the face, neoqb.

I will say that I liked the "FIVE HUNDRED BULLETS, TWO MACHINE GUNS, ONE WINNER" touch to the end, along with the cool sound effect when the poster of the hawk and eagle and title flicked on at the very last part.
Though, they might want to correct that bit about the bullets. Most German planes carried 500 shots on belts for each Spandau machine gun. Most allied planes only carried 500 total. It was weird, but then again, the German Air Service was better than any Entente or American one.
