  • kenny fukin powers :)

  • If Ron Jeremy & Danny McBride had a boy it would look like Mike. JK man thanks for the review I was looking for info about this router. BTW I love Ron and Danny.

  • you missed the most important part, what mbps if it is your most popular, it must be same as TrendNet most popular, at 400mbps?

  • Hey i saw you in youporn!?!?!

  • Insert the cd? Really?!!?! How stupid do you think we are? 192.168.1.1 will get you into the router, from there you can set your router up accordingly. Insert the cd lmao!

For the record I do own this router and love it, great range and speed. No cd required unless you have min tech knowledge.

  • @lschlutt73 WRONG. 192.168.1.1 will NOT get you to this routers GUI. Maybe a Linksys router, but not a D-Link router. D-Link uses 192.168.0.1. This video was made for beginners, so before you go mouthing off about how great you are, get your facts straight.

  • Good router but they failed on the LED lights.. TOO BRIGHT IN A BEDROOM

  • @misterbearbe not really I love that I was looking for blue LED lights to put in my room but I guess I won't even need to buy it anymore because this Router has some awesome ones.

  • What do i do if i lost my cd?

  • sorry if i write double comment but this Modem helped me alot to increase my internet connection , since then my web pages and skype runs very smooth than ever. Cons : Expensive but worth the money.

  • @forzamicha46 Its not expensive at all..

  • @misterbearbe in my place it's expensive :) but as i wrote before , worth the money :)

  • good news i used this CD and it was the only way to configure my AZTECH 600E DSL MODEM with this marvelous DLINK DIR 655

    :-)

  • Is the modem built in?

  • Does anyone know if the USB device conected (Like External HD) can be seen from the internet using a public ip addres with shareport installed in the remote computer?

  • Hey my Internet is really crappy, and when I play xbox it takes like 1-3 minutes to find a match, plus I cannot connect to most of my friends. Will this router decrease the time to find matches, and help me connect better to my friends?

  • cd is for noobs, pros just need to hook it up and access the router

  • I have two 655's and I would like to use the second one as an access point to boost the signals from my 4 linksys wireless cams.......does anyone know what I should do to acheive this?

  • A router will never be INSTALLED! You can never INSTALL a physical router on a computer ! How can someone - moreover from D-Link - imprints on the Router Wizard CD that that CD is an installation CD and that with that CD you install the router?! You are just simply setting its software configuration but you DO NOT INSTALL the router! A router is been already installed with its OS on its own hardware on the manufacturing site! Never heard a more stupid thing ever!

  • I still haven't bought this router but I have a question, I own a netbook laptop and it does not have a space for putting discs in. What do I need to do in order to install? also can I use another computer (laptop as well) to instal the router? and also how do I make it work on a videogame console?

    Thanks in advance!

  • is it easy to portforwarding this router? I've a philips SNB6500 which I am having problems with portforwarding it.

  • Is the cable provided a category six cable?

  • Are the specs of this router still the same if you have a slow internet connection? At the moment I use the verizon router/modem but that can only support one item at a time. I ran an internet speed test and it says its like 1.9 mbps but I can pretty easily play PS3 online so Im not too sure how thats possible. But im off subject. I just wondered will this still work at those same speeds with that slow connection.

  • Do you really need the disc, because my sister lost the guide, disc, and the stand....

  • Hello,

I'm using a Xtreme Wireless N Gigabit Router, is it possible for me to connect my line without using a modem, if so, can you tell me how to do it

  • how I find my account name and password ? ^^

  • Hey man..May i ask you a question?... My house has four floors and I want the wireless signal reaches full..Will this router work perfectly?. by the way how much cost?.. ive seen in best buy in $110. ..i really want to buy 1 router and bring it to my country - Peru... thx buddy .

  • Hey, I am just wondering...did your dlink ever disconnect on you? When I first installed it it used to disconnect every so often, usually when loading youtube vids and stuff. Ever since I changed mixed mode to N/G mode only its been working like a charm...so far and hopefully will stay lol. Also, my Internet LED like is blink crazy fast all day. Is that normal too?

  • I didn't know Eon Jeremy did router reviews but it was great thank you Ron.

  • do u think this router is good for 2 xbox 360 a laptop and streamin HD movies at the same time

  • whats better this or the 825?

  • I have a 16mbps connection from Cogeco, will this router lower my download speeds or increase them?

  • Is the software CD compatible with Vista 64-Bit and/or Windows7 64-Bit? The reason I ask is my old WNDR3300

RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Router was not. The disc never did work with a 64-bit OS. So I had to call up tech support to walk me through the set up. Needless to say, I've not been happy with it. I got the wireless so I could use it with my iPhone and Laptop. Will the D-Link DIR-655 work with the iPhone's Wi-Fi?

  • Win7 64 bit compatible. That is what I have. Have not seen speed over 130mbps. Sure it is my problem not the 655. trying to get some hints here.

  • You won't see speeds higher than 130Mbps with current generation hardware. The 300Mbps number is a theoretical data rate. The 130Mbps you are seeing is what is called throughput. You actually have a higher throughput than the 125Mbps I was able to achieve here in the lab.

  • Thank you for the input! FYI I am using Sony VGN-NW 150J with Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN and the DIR-655. At this time, SmartWi says speed@ 65Mbps. Wireless Network Connection Status shows speed@ 130.0Mvps. Sometime speed fluctuates from mid 50's-130. You have a new customer 4 life! Thank You for your response!

  • @182QKFTW

What you are seeing is the router switch between 20 and 40MHz mode. This is for compatibility. 802.11g uses a 20MHz channel width. If all of your wireless equipment is 802.11n, try setting the router to 802.11n only mode and your connection should be steady at the higher speed.

Also, if all of your equipment is 802.11n and somebody close by has an 802.11g device, they can slow down your network. In this case you'd want to lock it down to 802.11n aso.

  • How do I lock the router down to 802.11n? It is set on mixed mode I can see but can not figure how to lock it down. Currently there are 6 G-routers in range... Thanks

  • 6 Routers, plus whatever is connecting to them.

I looked through all of the DIY episodes and it looks like I haven't made an episode showing how to lock down your router to 802.11n mode. It is really simple.

    1. Login

    2. Click the Setup tab at the top

    3. Click the Wireless Settings button on the left

    4. Scroll down to the bottom of the page

    5. Click the Manual Wireless Network Setup button

    6. From the 802.11 Mode drop down select 802.11n only.

And be watching for the DIY video on this.

  • I worked the above commands and see 130Mbps Steady. U get Employ of the month Thanks again!
