  • This has cleared some clouds in my mind. :)

  • How many uses can you get out of a corncob pipe? How different is it from a briar pipe?

  • 2:19 WHAT A BOSS

  • @gsahrens Thanks Man!

  • And as for young people not smoking Pipes? Pishposh! I'm 21 on the First of December, and I've already bid on 2 pipes on Ebay, and plan to try and instant-buy an Estate pipe.

Like you said, "It's a great oppertunity." Or as others would say,

"One mans junk is another mans treasure!"

It's a shame to see hand-crafts like pipes go to waste!

  • Y'damned right! As with anything in life - from something as complicated as building or driving a car, right down to how you tuck your sheets under your bed, how you eat your dinner or drink your water. Never a truer word was spoken as, "You do it how YOU want to. Not somebody elses idea of how you SHOULD."

Great way to word it mate!

Said in very much the manner of a "Father of Pipe-Smokin'!"

  • Your seemingly obvious wisdom is simply amazing!

  • I guess only the young may have this problem....It's a general belief that pipe smoking is "for older men only", they think that "it's not modern"....I believe the exeptions are in the world of culture and the arts, such in the musicians. For example the blues culture.

  • bar none the best bit of advice for new pipe smokers! Cheers and thanks for posting!

  • @HorustheAvenger Thank you Sir!

  • dont smoke cigarettes, they have much more added chemicals and other crap. Pipes and cigars are the way to go

  • well thanks man I was so facilitated by your videos I'm taking a short break going to buy a pipe come back and watch again, thanks for all the tips so far

  • @mrdopeman90 You're welcome!

  • Im 12 and once im 18 ima see if i like pipes :) im going to buy a pipe sooner tho!

  • This cats cool ..i need to buy a pipe.

  • i guess this is the vid. well, i'm probably one of those who don't enjoy the very bottom of the bowl. i suppose it also depends on the actual pipe and tobbaco used. thanks anyway, the liberty wich you present in your videos is a relief and help for every new pipesmoker.

  • man u rock your wisdom on pipe smoking is giving n' fair 2 all, people like u i admire thanks fellow matey

  • @3acalmaca Thank you so much!

  • I don't smoke anything but I'm finding these videos thoroughly enjoyable. If I ever started smoking I'd always want to do it with a pipe.

  • @Erivah Thank you!

  • I hate you because you're so chill. Ever thought about being shitty and uptight like the majority?

  • @ElNubbs Fear not, in real life I am.

  • your videos are refreshing thanks for sharing. I bought a long stem pipe 8" or so and I love it.. lots to learn but thats the fun part.. once again thanks and keep piping:)

  • I did this the first time i smoked pipe, and got soooo nicotine sick it felt like my eyebrows were rotating.... and then i puked my guts out xD had i seen this it would've never happened.

  • @SilasK9098 That's a method a lot of folks use. It can sometimes make the pipe burn hot though.

  • Why is Alfred Hitchcock sitting on a porch.

  • 1:45 techno song when replayed XD

  • this guy has a great attitude in general

  • hahaha words to live by my friend..."You smoke your pipe to your pleasure" hell yes

  • i find that soaking the tobacco in gasoline helps to prevent the need for relighting.

  • @SideSwipez77 That's a good idea! :)

  • @SideSwipez77 dont forget the addition of gunpowder

  • @SideSwipez77 I just about choked on my smoke when I read this. haha!

  • i just wanna say, i started "collecting" pipes, (i say "collecting" because i only have 3) when my friend got me one from germany, and ive always wanted to actually smoke them, and these videos are so well done, and getting me very excited to. thank you for these great videos so far.

  • @3tuxedo Thank you very much Sir, I only wish my videos could rise to your kind praise.

  • I love these videos very short, entertaining and informative. So far each has made me laugh a bit and learn a bit. Thanks! LOL

    Good stuff

  • @lostmywalletagain Thank you!

  • i 19 and im a newb at pipe smoking, and thanks to you i have two pipes bolth cron cob (one i made myself)

  • @bobwtj1 Cool, I think I tried to make a corn cob pipe when I was very young with little success.

  • @SmokeRingsPipeDreams I have smoked cigars for a year but never really cigarettes. I bought a pipe today and I'm new to it but willing to learn. I read about smoking your pipe for the first times to make it work, like smoking it in but i also read people treat their pipes with different mixes. Most made from whisky or bourbon mixed with sugar water. I was wondering do you have any tips on this or do you just smoke it in with right kind of tobacco?

  • @2mad2behere I ususally dedicate a pipe to a certain kind of tobacco. Or maybe even a particular brand. But I always smoke a new pipe with only about half a bowl at first.

  • @SmokeRingsPipeDreams Ok, I have been smoking it with only a half a bowl but I was wondering that how do I know when the bowl isn't so easily exposed to burning anymore.

  • @2mad2behere Actually a lot of guys don't bother with the half bowl thing and just pack their pipes and smoke them as they normally would. I think it may be more important not to get the pipe going real hot than anything else. And of course let it rest for 24 hours inbetween smokes.

  • @SmokeRingsPipeDreams Thanks for replying, I'll try not to ruin the pipe even tough it is really cheap. Great series watched them all.

  • @2mad2behere Well, ... I pretty much ruined my first pipe. I think it's kind of the way it goes. Don't feel bad if you make mistakes, that's how we all learn.

  • im a cigarette smoker of 20 years but i just need that relaxation after work. I bought a cheap corn cobber and some cherry and some black cavendish today. i figure itll be nice after a long day of work to sit outside and smoke a pipe instead of a rushed cig. plus when the kids stress me out itll be a nice escape. thamks for the series, it is really helping. cant wait to start a collection of pipes. at 34 it may seem dorky but they sure taste good.

  • @keyster76 It's never to late in life to enjoy life my Friend!

    Cheers,

    Kel

  • I really like watching this series of videos by you, so thanks for making them. I am a newb with a corn cob pipe and some cheap Super Value vanilla tobacco but we all have to start small :)

  • @TheOzoneLayerHatesMe Thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying it. We all have to start somewhere!

    Cheers,

    Kel

  • to to to to to to to!... lol

  • @IITZzCOOK13 lol

  • I agree completely! I'm sure I have many pipe smoking habits that older, more experienced smokers think are wrong, but like you said, It's your pipe, enjoy it how you want to. I often smoke only a third or a quarter bowl at a time, and I never smoke a bowl on just one light. It's all about the leisure of it. When you start worrying too much about technique, it quickly becomes a chore rather than a hobby. Thanks for the great series Kel!

  • @Karok01 you are most welcome!

  • Thanks for making such a great vid Kel. Kicking some pipe myth ass like a champ.

    ~Slainte

    Rob

  • @SOVIETTACO Thank you for watching, I appreciate it!

  • I really like this video. It is great to expose this myth to anyone watching it. It definitely all about enjoying yourself. Happy smoking!

    Seth

  • Great Video,

    I am enjoying this series.

    Cheers

    Mark

  • @backcountrypipe Thank you Mark, I have to get my butt in gear and make the next few, I have them written, but haven't filmed them yet.

  • A timely bit of advice. That first time I lit up a couple weeks back, I was too concerned and self-concious about the method to actually enjoy the smoke. And yes, I felt like I wasn't pipeman material as a result...So thanks, Kel.

  • @TheGentlemanScholar I felt the same way. (for years actually)

  • Good commentary. More than anything that looks like an extremely comfortable spot to smoke!

  • Hi Kel , You're right , it happens but after years of experience , I still screw up every once in a while with packing , etc . . That's life . Thanks for the vids . God bless you . michael

  • I completely agree!

  • Great points.

  • If truer words have ever been spoken I haven't heard them.

  • Very Kewl Video!! It gets Pounded into peoples heads constantly that there is only one way to smoke you pipe, and you shouldnt have to keep relighting it! lol Its Great to see some one express A Better Motto! And to share it with all! Thanks! Keep up the Great Vids! Have a Great Weekend!

  • ;) so right! ;)

  • Another great addition to the series Kel!!

Looking forward to the next installment!

    -Matthew

  • Absolutely right!! I´m a beginner, and before starting, I read and watched a lot about pipe smoking, what should and what should not be done, the "holy" rules of pipe smoking. Now I must say that some advices were really helfpul, but sometimes I felt more nervous and tense than relaxed with others. As time goes by, you learn by yourself, you can judge better other people advices and you also "create" your own style.

Thank you for that great vid Kel!

    Cheers, Daniel.

  • @SpainPipeDHM You're welcome Daniel, happy puffin'!

    Best regards,

    Kel

  • Well said, Kel. One of the main reasons I didn't smoke my pipe a lot after I first purchased one was because I had a hard time keeping it lit and didn't know it was NORMAL to relight a few times. I admittedly didn't know how to pack it properly either, which is another reason this series is of such value. Thanks again!

    Kevin

  • @thesmokingdeck Thank you Kevin!

    Cheers,

    Kel

  • First one to comment, yeah! I just had that experience yesterday when I smoked a bowl of W.O. Larsen's Signature pipe tobacco to a fine white ash with only two relights if I remember correctly. I sat outside, it had only 8°C but I really liked it as I often have problems with a hot pipe -- not so yesterday! So just to tease you a bit, but as you've said, it happens but not very often. I would be grateful if you had tips how one can avoid a hot pipe. So long and thank you for your videos! :)

  • @ProjectLiberty You're welcome, I've got a series on how to pack, avoid heated pipes and tongue bite as well all in the works.

    Cheers,

    Kel

  • Well said! I couldn't agree more! If your pipe brings you pleasure, however you are smoking it, than you are doing it right.
