  • The outro is the best piece of music I've ever heard. God bless you Jordan.

  • at 4:54: name a fucking one song that hits your heart with as melodic arrow as this one. This is true masterpiece. Those artists should be appointed to SIRs with medals or whatever. Absolutely insane song.

  • Ending is chilling...

  • battle hymn of the republic at the end

  • Lyrics blow my mind.

  • Holy shit, Jon's pick must be moving faster than a Bugatti veyron at full speed.

  • Dat ending piano arpeggio

  • @Grifff0 Fmmaj7, if it satisfies you :)

  • @WhynotMiha Thank you

  • Glory, glory, hallelujah!

    Glory, glory, hallelujah!

  • 3:06 reminds of koopa junior from super mario word

  • i cried at the end

  • @Ianfefe That`s what she said

  • 1:43 - 1:46 WIN

  • From 0:05 to 0:37 sounds to me like a Zerg track from Starcraft

  • listen when the prophet speaks to you killing in the name of god

  • This song is freaking amazing, but wth @ 1:45?

  • Good song, too bad the poster of it is a douchenugget XDDD you know youre cool when you spend time posting on your own videos

  • @Mirage469 only takes two seconds to reply bro . not like its a huge commitment of time or anything

  • 2:21-3:06 that is why I have huge respect for John Myung.

  • @SlappaDeBassMon dude cool name its from i love you man right with paul rudd

  • The chord at the end of this song gives me a boner every time I listen to it.

  • I enjoy all of Dream Theater's songs, every one. And this one is undoubtably the best.

  • I hate how the guitar is turned way up for some reason in this version, like during the 32nd triplets synthesis in the solo, I only hear the guitar. Is that only my headphones?

  • @Explosion713 i think so. it sounds fine in my speakers and headphones

  • @Explosion713 too bad its a bass..

  • @Explosion713 Probably, remember that some headphones are tailored for different purposes of sound.

  • @Explosion713 you must have really shit headphones? Invest in a decent set.

  • Petrucci's Guitar Pick...

    +300 Agility

  • @kkvslayer88 Whereas The pick of destiny is +50 agility :D

  • Dream Theater is ethereal and beyond dimensions imo

No one who even thinks that they themselves are talented could even touch such a band. Period! 25 years of glory!

  • thx for the upload bro ^^^^

  • Portnoy make a sound with the drum in 0:21he is make a telegraph pattern but i just can't decode it!

  • @MasterRoyo117 he's not making with his drums. you won't hear it live or anything, or atleast i doubt it,

    but it IS morse code

it translates to "eat my ass and balls"

  • @chaveznieves if he's not making it with his drums..with what is he?

  • @FatJudith its just a sample they put through their mixing software.

  • @chaveznieves if you're referring to the "synth" drum bit. I swear they do it live... i think

  • @MyMytalMajesty i wrote that because i was pissed how Mike left DT for A7X

  • @Metallideth1120 He didn't leave DT FOR A7X. He was only temporarily. His choices to leave DT were coinciding differences between the members.; NOT to go to A7X.

  • @McDiddy99 he wanted a 5 year break and the others didn't want tht so he left.

  • @MyMytalMajesty

he's insinuating that even after they got mike portnoy, their music still pales in comparison to dream theater's music, so they would be mad that portnoy was in a much better environment in DT. or something similar to that effect

it appears to me as if you're taking the joke a bit too seriously

  • @MyMytalMajesty

    you clearly don't get it

  • this song is over at 4:32. there is no reason to listen further

  • WTF????? D= 3:06 pfff i like that bass sound and the guitar pfff is hell

  • epic fucking song!!

  • epic solo

  • Does anyone know who is it singing those backing vocals from 1:49 to 2:04. I didn't know DT had that kind of vocals on Train of Thought but that sounds actually quite cool.

  • @komeroinen you mean those very faint screams in the background?

the tone of voice sounds like labrie. and he's the only one who's proven he was any kind of voice for that.

  • @chaveznieves It is Labrie

  • @chaveznieves Yeah, it's Labrie :)

  • @komeroinen It's probably a recording of Labrie, but if they play it live, most backing vocals are shared by Portnoy and Petrucci.

  • @komeroinen

it's Portnoy, Labrie and somethimes Petrucci who're singing the back vokals.. but the lead back vokal is Portoy.

  • @Bruenor1996 Are you implying that i am belittling Dream Theater? Because if you are you need to fucking hone your skills in terms of reading comprehension. I was merely trying to convey the fact that Dream Theater is one of the handful of musicians that actually use true musical theory to compose their songs. Which is why everything for them is so limitless. I was referring to other bands that get more credit than Dream Theater for doing the EXACT fucking opposite. Sigh, what the fuck..........

  • best

  • Did fucking Paganini sit in a circle with a bunch of jackasses and smash their heads on their pianos until some coherent rhythm was produced. NO he fucking sat down, and pondered to his hearts content to write a beautiful composition using ACTUAL FUCKING THEORY. So i don't want to hear who is better or who is worse....Obviously the most educated in terms of musical theory will be the best....no matter how much you resent that, its fact.

  • @uzumaki1994 thats not always true. it certainly HELPS alot

but there are some good musicians that arent extremely well versed in theory

  • @uzumaki1994

    Support from me ;) !

  • In regards to the arguments about other bands. Lets get something straight. I cant consider a group of people actual musicians unless they are fucking capable of sitting down and properly composing a musical piece and writing it down using actual musical notations. In actuality this is not a fucking opinion...its FACT. The only reason its not done these days is because the human race has declined in terms of intellect over the years.

  • @uzumaki1994

uzumaki u think u know so much but are u even educated in theory or are u just a 2 faced cunt ?? can u even tell me what the term triad means without looking on wikipedia ?? obviously not so shut up and stop trying unsuccessfully to diss a great band who know a hell of a lot more musical theory than ur dickweed asskissing brain can comprehend. infact if u think u know so much why don't u make some music and we can see how shitty u are ok ?

  • @Bruenor1996 dude. you can't insult someone's intelligence and then come up here with grammar and spelling like that. we have a term for that called IRONY. its quite hilarious at time

  • @chaveznieves

dude you accuse me of bad grammar but you don't even know how to structure a sentence "its quite hilarious at time" ?? is that even supposed to be good english ?? seriously can you even spell ? or did your parents help you make a comment ? grow up man....

  • @Bruenor1996 thats called a single typo. it happens.

your prior comment was FULL of failure. i'm not saying proofread twice and get a spell checker: this is fucking youtube, all i'm saying is when you're insulting someones grammar (like you were), at least be pretty close with your own

  • i love how almost every song on this album needs two parts on youtube

clearly youtube cannot handle the amazingness in one video

  • @Guitarshark87 and the dirt is gone?

  • 7:28 - 8:17

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord:

    He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;

He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword:

    ...His truth is marching on.

    Glory, glory, hallelujah!

    Glory, glory, hallelujah!

this is probably the most beautiful thing i have ever heard in a song...it made me cry...

  • Plural wives, specific numbers involving murders in the name of Good, scepter and a gun... I think It's about a pseudo-christian cult somewhere in America, I know I watched something about it on Discovery. It isn't about Islam because the "plural wives" aren't unconsenting in Islam, and I'm sure they didn't have guns in the seventh century, or during the Crusades!

  • @FranLesPaul haha funny you mention that the arabs not having guns during crusades, they were pretty much the ones who developed the proto muskets, which the europeans would turn into something known as the musket some century or two later (to be simple) :P

  • @Necrodermis Muskets were developed in China first. I think rifles are from the west/muslim countries though.

  • @Zophixan no no i'm sure the chinese used fire lances, sort of like a gun but instead the barrel is a urn or a jar like shaped object on the end of a pole, the urn would contain a spear tip that would have a charge of black powder behind it, also turned into a temporary flamer! XD the arabs had what was a metal tube that would work on the same principals but it looked more like a gun of somekind than anything else, it was later on that the europeans made the matchlock systems and such i think

  • @FranLesPaul Dude they aren't talking about just christianity here, they are talking about every religion. Unyielding crusades, what religion hasn't gone on a crusade? A religion involving God at least. This song is splattered by simply saying: Why would any religion kill people in the name of God? Or stop killing in the name of God. And I'm just saying write out here, the islamic religion has had a much bloodier history then Christianity.

  • @TheLenity909090 No, no. Religions do not go on crusades. Men do. Religions teach how to transcend beyond one's flesh. Crusades, wars, they teach to kill men to kill their brother. Religions teach how to love your brother. No war is holy. Wars are necessary. Sure, it may be talking about Islam. "Why is he the chosen one" might be a question of Muhammed's peers, because he wasn't nearly a saint. Many radical extremists too.

  • @FranLesPaul Okay, let me rephrase they are talking about radicals who believe in religions. I completely agree with what you are saying here, I am just saying that they are saying "Why would members of a peaceful religion, kill in the name of God?"

  • All I see on Dream Theater video comments are about Avenged Sevenfold. Ok people who think a7x is better than Dream Theater are on drugs, though a7x isnt the worst music out there it is in no way shape or form compatible to Dream Theater.

  • 3:07-4:22

  • hey guys cant you just enjoy DREAM THEATER s music

  • 2:05 first orgasm

    4:30 second orgasm

  • In the Name of God and Damage inc their best songs

  • awesome

  • Total fucking eargasm.. best riffs and solos I've ever heard, and I'm not even one of their fans, totally super partes.

  • '80 murdered in the name of god, 40 sons and daughters'

so its a specific religion/cult rather than a general bashing of extremists

  • @roadkill1001 i believe that draws from a specific religion, but in general i think its still against religious extremism. that is just one specific example they used. i'm not 100 percent sure but i'm fairly certain

  • @roadkill1001 John is catholic, and he was the writer of this song, so it can't be completely anti christian.

  • @roadkill1001 "unconsenting plural wives" reminds me more about Muslims than other religions

  • @roadkill1001 No because then he says unyielding crusades and stuff like that, and many religions have gone on crusades or jiihads. The song isn't quite clear, but I am quite certain it is not talking about a single religion. It is talking about religous extremists.

  • anyone realized the choir at 7:29?

on cd it sounds like portnoy and petrucci at some places till the end...

    anyway, amazing band, amazing song!

  • oh my GOD this sounds EXACTLY like them live at the budokan... that just shows how AWESOME they are... DT lives forever!

  • You can hear James Labrie screaming his face off low down in the mix in one part!

  • i am awestruck... Zeus just hit me with a lightning bolt!!!!

  • two people must have seen this on opposite day

  • This solo..... inspires me....

  • the two people who disliked this are from Avenged Sevenfold

  • @Metallideth1120 fuck a7x. bunch of washed up, talentless, wannabe metal heads

  • @chaveznieves and they took Mike Portnoy

  • @Metallideth1120 No, they didn't. I'll post a link to you profile right now.

  • @chaveznieves That's a bit strong. A7X have more talent than, say, Justin Bieber.

  • Comment removed

  • @chaveznieves you might as well stop posting shit on youtube. there are a lot more people that love a7x than hate them, and your comments wont make us change our minds. im proud to say i am a dream theater AND a7x fan.

  • @CAMF7711 i'm not trying to change anybody's mind. if anyone wants to make the mistake of liking such a terrible band thats their own decision. you can suck my dick if you think you can tell me what to do on my own channel.

  • @chaveznieves u win!!!!!!

  • @chaveznieves Well said !! Basically, a7x is the boyband of metal.

  • @chaveznieves hahahahahaha best response ever dude. you can suck my cock would be even better. ahahahaha u r the one

  • Comment removed

  • @mel577 Jordan Rudess actually. Agreed in the rest, awesomeee.

  • @chaveznieves What band was he talking about?

  • @perrottafamily1 Probably Avenged Sevenfold

  • @zlHi Yup :P

  • @perrottafamily1 its band, where mike p. is drumming now :)

  • 4:31 = G-G-G-GOD MODE!!!!

  • Eat My ASS AND BALLS MOTHERFUCKER, BECAUSE DREAM THEATER IS THE FUCKING BOSS!!

  • 4:24 - 4:33 = brain explodes from pure awesomeness

  • again here 2 islamists disliking the song

  • I love this song. The vocals were dissapointing though, LaBrie can do wayy better -_-

Also, I don't get what the hype is with the solo, I think it's annoying, in fact I skip to the next song at that part.

  • divina.....

  • solo caused anal leakage

  • justin bieber doesnt got shit on this

  • @dsepulveda23 hahaha when did that hunk of crap ever have any shit on anything?

  • love how the last note of this song is the first sound of root of all evil fucking epic

  • @Dreamscapevirus It's also the last note of Octavarium.

    SYMBOLISM!

  • @alex9033 yea dude as DT said "This story ends where it began"

  • just when you think the solo has come to its cresendo.. BAM!!

arguably the best DT anthem..... right?

  • I could not hear the morse code at all.

  • esta cancion incluye una frase en codigo morse escrita por mike al comienzo de esta parte.

  • For some unknown reason, I hear a small reference to Jonestown, and what's with the 40 sons and daughters line?

  • 3:05-3:46 = >:D

  • Nothing quite as pathetic as an internet bully...

  • @bassevanbass

if you are referring to me you must understand that he sent me some pretty rude and hateful personal messages before that

  • one word describes this band: EPIC

  • i love the song but i think 1:45 to 1:50 is cool

  • between 0:20 - 0:36...there is a hidden composition buried beneath the far louder sounds of the song itself...(u can hear a tick tick sound :D), its a morse code..when its isolated and translated to English...the phrase "EAT MY ASS AND BALLS" (Mike Portnoy catchphrase) will be the result....DT are genius in ever way :D

  • @ginjeeimano

yeah that was mentioned in previous comments

  • @chaveznieves hey dont embarress me ):...i didnt read all those comments...i just saw this in mike portnoy's website

  • @ginjeeimano haha its not "Hidden" specially because when DT released this album they said that were somthing "Hidden" in one of the music...

And as a huge Rush fan, they used the "Morse Code" idea to place something there...

I remeber when they told there was something Hidden in this album, ppl started to listen in all ways, including listening all musics in Backward and they discovered many curious things haha

  • @ginjeeimano I can hear it, that's fucking........ I don't know if there's any word to describe a situation which is 1000 times better than badass :D

  • @ginjeeimano incredibly juvenile! But in a good way. These are the sort of things people need to know when they listen to Dream Theater, they're pretentious sure, but down to Earth!

  • @ginjeeimano Dream Theater has so many little things here and there, little hidden things, big hidden things, it's ridiculous.

There are too many to start listing, but if you start looking at EVERYTHING they've done, listening to every album and reading all the lyrics and such, you'll start to notice only some of them. It's just too many...

Plus it's an excuse to listen to their entire discography:D

  • @espon6 you need an excuse to listen to their discography???

  • @chaveznieves no, but for some people maybe

I do it all the time.

    They're EXCELLENT and beyond!

  • 3:05

  • I still say this song should of been added to halo 2 i know a few places in the game where

  • the absolute greatness of this song comes from the final scale and how it doesnt resolve unless you turn it way up and listen for the low note...AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great!

  • @KoLFinland They are talking about the fanatic muslims, because Petrucci and Myung are catholics.

  • the riff starting at 4:33 is fucking sick.

    omg.

  • This is an epic song, in all aspects

  • @KoLFinland

That's funny, because the band members are all religious.

  • . John Petrucci can play this solo. No human can

  • @GODMONSTERRARGH

I can play this solo =P

  • @IPwnAtLife666

i don't see a vid of it on your channel. in fact i watched a few myself. they're sloppy and out of tune

based on that i doubt you can play it

  • @chaveznieves dont be a dick, im learning it right now, people who can't learn things don't take the time to learn.

  • @avrockgod

if you cant take criticism dont post

  • everytime i listen to the solo, i get a boner.... does it happen to everyone else?

  • 7:28 what's with the Battle Hymn of the Republic in the background? O_o

  • @BenMurrie the only two notes i did not like in dt history was in "The Glass Prison" at around "5:23-5:24" the two or three high notes which stand out from the low b string chords. This moment occurs right after the repeat into the original keyboard solo from the beginning followed by the d.s. al fine to the break down.

  • I'm sure it's been said before, but the song is specifically about David Koresh, and the Waco Siege, denoted by the bridge before the instrumental section. But it can also speak for all manners of religious extremism. Also, it's a fucking epic song.

  • @Slibdude

even if you have no idea what this song is about, which i didn't for a long time, its still badass ass fuck. great headbanger at parts
