The problem is that Apple is a very reliable machine and company and that contains internal parts like every other computer system. although they were not made by apple but partnership with apple to put in their Mac systems. I still have my macbook and i love it. The most reliable hard-drives out here is western digital cause i have a hard drive going 5 years strong!!!!!!!!
@bigphatjay Although i do agree that WD makes durable hard drives, but their noise level is a tad louder than other brands. I know because i just installed a new WD black scorpio HD last month =_=' Its pretty loud~
I had to replace the drive. I wasn't able to get my files off however because the drive wouldn't spin up correctly. I was pretty aggravated about that. I luckily had my files backed up.
I am an Apple Certified Macintosh Technician and I replaced it myself. Apple was having an issue with this batch of HDDs. I haven't had an issue since I replaced it.
I think it is the hard dirve, my old laptop Asus had a hdd failure with that brand hitichi too...it keep clicking and doesn't load anything....i was so angry with that stupid hdd, that i actually choked on the floor....
I have problems with Apple Mac computers since 2008. Even HDD in my iMac bought since Aug. 2008 is failing and its quite fast instead if 3-4 years. I'm not going to buy Macs anymore.
i hear clickings on my 15" macbook pro unibody too. but they don't appear to be coming from the hard drive... it's only happens when the macbook is on diagonal (angled) position... and doesn't mean anything to the performance...
yuck. Hitrashi.

@c0rrupts3ct0r555 I was able to get it replaced under AppleCare. I personally would have put a WD Drive in there. WD makes really good hard drives.

The HDD is broken.
Dont blame apple they dont make HDDs. Just call support or buy a new HDD.
