  • dude, you just showed a screwball. you described it perfectly

  • gyroball is suppossed to look like its dropping but its actually rising

  • I don't care if it isn't a real gyroball if it gets people out I'll use it

  • Well obviously, you can`t throw a real gyroball. Japan scientists said human body is not able to throw it.

  • You're right, this isn't a true gyroball. It's more of a really awkward screwball.

  • wow. ur name would be "AlFred"

  • Its a 2 seam movement!

  • ur a liar u retard

  • your a big fat curlly headded freak!!!!!!!!

  • It's a screw ball

  • Shut up guys!!!!I've tried this pitch and its not really a gyro ball but it DOES have "the bottom drop out of it like he SAID"

  • thx it worked no hitter 3 innings thts how much innings we can only pitch

  • i think thats called a vulcan change

  • Ha, "i struck out like 6 or 7 batters at all stars the other day", your a terrible liar, you probably pitch reliever in junior varsity.

  • @MrAmateurCovers hes actually not lying at all. this kid kicks ass so just shut up.

  • @MrAmateurCovers how do u no u¨ve never seen him pitch

  • WRONG! nice try though. wrong grip and wrong motion. also wrong rotation, and be honest. there was no all-star practice.

  • @styrafomsubmrin thats the right grip

  • ur a lefty so am i!

  • this pitch spins kind of like a slider it rotates on the top its just like a screwball

  • this pitch spins kind of like a slider it rotates on the top

  • what if your right handed do you grip it index and middle on top and ring and pinky on side?

  • Does the gyroball vome from greece

  • It doesnt work for crap aLfred

  • Ye gyroball doesn't break drop or rise. It spins like a bullet so it looks like it is dropping but it is really going straight

  • thats actually a "vulcan changeup" it has most of the same movement as a circle changeup sort of like a slow sinker its still a pretty nasty pitch. former yankee and now diamondback ian kennedy throws this pitch as did eric gagne

  • thats not how to throw a gyro ball. right idea but wrong grip and wrist snap. a gyro-ball (i looked this up on many different baseball sights) dosnt move att all. fadt balls somewhat move. this DOSNT MOVE AT ALL. it spins like a bullet u let it roll off the tips of your fingers

  • actually it is a gyro ball.

  • a gyroball has bullet like spin like a spiral in football. this is not a gyro ball. its almost as fast as a fastball. faster than a change up.

  • its a screball

  • i once did this pitch totally made up and when i pitched it to my friend (i throw right) it went at him and swooped and sord of dropped right in the middle :) totally made up by me

  • its not a gyroball, its called a sinker. the only thing you are doing is changing the position of your fingers

  • that is the same thing a circle change is with a weird grip. just the same movement as a slow sinker. thats it

  • it spins like a spiral on a football

  • this is a gyrobLL OR SUMN ITS NASTY IT BREAKS AT LAST SSECOND

  • this is not a gyro ball

  • for all other people who think this video is shit please see my recent comments on this vid and give me a thumbs up ^^ much appreciated :DD

  • @iGUESSmaybeNOT

no problem :) i throw it also, but it's a bit more slower than my fastball. but you're right, it should be as a fastball, 'cause it is a fastball grip.

P.S. yes, this video is for shit

NOTE TO ALL: stop making videos of something if you don't know what you're talkin' about!!

  • but that's just my fastest gyroball so don't take it to heart ^^

  • ok honest this is the last time. IF YOU WANT TO SEE A REAL GYROBALL THEN GO VISIT GORO SHIGENO!!! (not a real person but i admire him anyway ^_^)

  • ONE MORE POST THEN ILL STOP!! what you threw was actually a japanese screwball called a shuuto. have a nice day ^_^

  • AND ONE MORE THING!!! a gyroball is pitched the way it is because your WHOLE BODY is turning. not your hand -.-

  • @iGUESSmaybeNOT or you could just throw the baseball like a football in the 2 seam position.

  • your really stupid you know that? look up a gyroball before you make a video. thats NOT a true gyroball. a gyroball does NOT drop and it should go as fast as a fastball. it does NOT curve at all and it leaves an illusion to the batter that the ball is dropping but its actually a straight pitch. thats why batters swing under the ball when a gyroball is pitched. and whats up with the spock grip? it's grip almost like a fastball but without your thumb on the seam. and you dont curve your hand.

  • screw ball

  • - is it the same as in right-hand ???

  • notta gyroball. a gyroball is sposed to rise but at the same time appear to fall.

  • @anthonysjb its actually not supposed to rise but be pitched straight. if it rises then it has too much air resistance.

  • @iGUESSmaybeNOT it has the illusion of dropping to the batter but at the same time it has the illusion that it is rising to the pitcher and spectators. if you record a video of a gyroball being pitched and play it in extreme slow-mo then you will see.

  • @iGUESSmaybeNOT

    yeahh, i apologize.

i realized tht after i posted the comment.

  • you dont turn your wrist in you turn it side arm and you can only throw it if you have a 3/4 arm pitching style

you turn your arm out retard

  • It's one of the most popular pitches in Japan, but it's not the gyroball. That's the shuuto. It's sort of like a screwball, but can move like a reversed slider och curve depending on the pitcher. But unlike the shuuto it doesn't mess up your arm (as much).

  • ta ta todAY JUNIOR

  • @espnfan123 LOL

  • this kid obviuosly has a chode

  • this kid obviously has a chode

  • this kid obviously has a chode, No DOUBT

  • your ful of crap. u probably suck at baseball. pitched ur all star game?? in what a video game?? u suck at life, baseball, and a dick.

  • Its a fast change-up...basically

  • He said he struck out 7 batters in all star prac. Lmao. I wana beat this guy with my shit

  • that`s a screwball.

  • wow allllllllredddddddd that sint a gyroball u dip shit

  • definitely not a gyroball

  • k alfred

  • That's not a gyro ball it is a japaneese screwball...

  • they call it a gyroball ya dumbass

  • Nope, that's not a new pitch. Although, it is a Japanese pitch called a shuuto.

  • thats a screwball

  • Comment removed

  • i learned to throw mine your grip it like a 2 seam and move your index finger next to the middle finger and throw 12 and 3 qaurters slitly cutting the edge of the ball it will break in and drop or rise depending on how hard you cut the ball.

  • it doesnt drop retard it has the ability to rise and goes like a slider!!!!not like a screwball

  • haha how fast does (should) a gyroball go?

  • same speed as yer change up

  • nononononooooo you think fast ball all the way throw

  • first of all, a gyroball should be more of a speed like a slider, second, it should spin like a bullet, and third of all you grip it like a fastball. period

  • @nemremsmislitime i don't know about you but i sure as hell can't throw a slider 90-100 mph... my average speed for a slider is around 85.. but my gyroball can go about 96

  • @nemremsmislitime but that's just my fastest gyroball so don't take it to heart ^^

  • @nemremsmislitime alfred is making all tis stuff up

  • what he means by gyro ball i think is a ball that moves but has no name. i don't think this is like dice k gyro, but i bet it has movement.

  • BAG OF DOUCHE

  • sorry deuschy, but thats not even close on how to throw a gyroball

  • dude, you're a douchebag. what happened to putting out ACTUAL footage of you throwing a gyro ball. You struck out 6 or 7 on this pitch at your all-star practice? What you don't say is that you were practicing for the annual douchebag family bbq.

Post a video of you actually pitching and name it "How to throw like a girl", cause that's probably how you throw.

  • yeah, let's see you throw one ya bum.

  • you calling me a bum fuckface il beat your ass!!!!ass wipe

  • wow you retard!!!!that aint the right way to flick your wrist your making you pitch a screwball..you flick you wrist the other way for a gyroball

  • Don't come around with new gyroballs!

  • thers many ways and variations of how to throw the gyroball, it has a screw spin (a.k.a. rotational) i guess dat way makes sense, but its sorta weird, and it makes it much more difficult

  • friki is not gyroball moviment that false

  • Thanks for the guide!

    It somewhat works.. lol

  • squid....

  • any pitch can ruin your arm

  • like a split finger fast but a change up a split finger change

  • That's not a gyroball that's a vulcan grip for a changeup, like what Eric Gagne throws. A gyro is just a slider that doesn't slide because the spin is aligned with the target instead of off centered. It's a mistake pitch that is only effective with big league hitters that can recognize slider spin early.

  • i have looked every where and i cant find and examples of a GYRO could you make a video of what it looks like, like the movment of the ball?

  • Yeah i'll be coming out with a video of me throwing it.

it should be up within the next couple weeks

  • great thanks man! keep up the good work!

have any good pitches other curve, change, nukle, that you know would be easy and not harming my arm other then a fast ball lol!

  • @fastball1223 they say at the batters view of it.it looks like its droping but its rising and its gots to spin like bullet

  • i tryed it at my game its nasty

  • lisp

  • wtf slurve

  • haha are you kidding me?

  • Oh wait, isn't this more of a screwball?

  • somewhat. lol

  • @tmacknicks a gyroball isnt meant to be even close to a screwball at all he got it wrong

  • but ya try throwing an effective screwball/slider combo. it works for me that and a slurve if you can throw that the i give you props

  • i have relatives in wisconsin

  • oh haha sweet

  • wtf thats not a gyroball and by the way thats a wisconsin accent isnt it

  • haha how did you know that?

  • Thanks, man, this pitch is amazing. Need some time to get used to it though.

  • That's called a Vulcan Change up...

You don't know what you're talking about...

  • i love how everyone talks about vulcan change ups and there are no videos or articles about them on the web or any baseball book.

  • this isn't a gyro ball its a shuuto they are commonly confused and a shuuto is basically a screw ball slider

  • dork

  • how would a righty throw it

  • the opposite of a lefty. just flick your wrist the opposite direction as a curveball but just dont flick it downward

  • nah, this isnt the true gyro-ball. this kinda looks like it would be a sinker or a bottom-drop-out change up. it sounds cool though

  • dude i finally figured out the origin of this pitch

  • ok good cuz i really wanna learn how to throw this pitch

  • ok but it didnt work

  • im going to make a video of me showing how to throw it step by step and i'll show what kind of movement it should have

  • dude doz it reallly work im gonna try it tomarrow cuz i have practice

  • yeah at first it might kind of suck but like any other pitch, the more you throw it the better movement and better control you get on the pitch

  • ok im ggonna try it today but do u have to flick ur wrist?

  • yeah

  • your moms pretty nasty

  • lol what?

  • But to actually throw a supposed "gyroball" similiar to Dice-K's you would have to atleast throw in the high 80's to produce the kind of movement....or else the pitch is useless

  • yupp ur right about that lol. i finally figured out where this pitch came from. im going to make a video soon about where the pitch i showed in this video came from.

  • dice k doesn't throw a gyro ball because a gyro ball isn't supposed to have any movement its a kind of a change up instead of disguising a slow pitch as a fast ball you disguise a fastball as a breaking ball because of the spin or at least that is the theory but because its impossible to always get the perfect spin you tend to get some break

  • a gyro ball is supposed to have the speed of a fastball but the movement of a slider. the only difference is the movement happens drastically and just before the plate. you achieve this by, instead of throwing a fastball with normal backspin, you throw it with "football" spin. the skewed axis of rotation causes the crippling movement.

  • no no no, that is a shuuto its a whole other thing. Somebody got the 2 confused in a news column or something thats why everyone thinks its that.

A shuuto is a slider that breaks in the same direction a a screw ball and jap pitchers use it to break left handed players bats because it comes inside very fast at homeplate

  • thats pretty much a changeup/sinker...just gripped in a different way.

  • totally different movement

  • I'm just referring to how you are holding and simulating like you would throw it...

  • oh i c. lol

  • a gyroball is a pitch that doesnt drop that much which makes the batter feel the ball is going faster(sry for the bad english, im not fluent)

  • thats sick

  • thats pretty much a circle change or screwball

  • i dont think a gyro has anything to do with the grip

  • ya this kid knows what he is talkin about...?

  • Not a gyroball....sad that people throw a pitch that already exists and say "Oh its a gyroball!!" people really need to stop

  • Yeah, though im not an ass like some of the people on here criticizing you, that way you hold that pitch isnt a "true" gyroball. Some people say the gyroball doesnt exist, but it does. In fact they actually have a pitching machine that throws it. You basically are just throwing a screw ball with a different grip. A true gyroball is actually just a slider/cutter. You dont snap on it, or twist the wrist. You throw it like a fastball. Matsuzaka tried to throw a cutter and people claimed it was gyro

  • Again, not a gyro. thats a vulcan changeup which eric gagne uses. a gyro is not meant to be a changeup, but a fastball with little to no break which reduces air resistance. It looks like a slider to the batter but comes at him like a fastball. The sweet spot of the ball is reduced to one point, thus when hit, most of the time the result is a pop fly or a foul ball. Please, please stop 'advertising' the vulcan change as a gyro. Im not trying to put you down, just get your facts right

  • no such thing as a gyroball sad

  • thats what every1 says until they learn to throw this pitch. there is a gyroball its just not like how poeple think it is

  • dude thats a screwball

  • im gonna try it lol :)

  • "at my all stair practice" cocky ? he says nasty like 684684

    times also UNKNOWN??

  • wut is the damage that it would do to your arm or does it even hurt it

  • i threw it all season and my a arm still felt great. it doesnt do anything to your arm

  • I think the gyro ball is different, but that is still a cool pitch

  • nobody actually knows how to throw a gyro its dice-ks pitch he threw it by accident its not a real pitch

  • show how u would throw it as a righty i tried it nothing happens.

  • the very first time i threw the gyro ball pitch i used the same grip and the movement is just wicked

  • I throw the pitch the same way alfred does and it worked as described. I dont know if it was because im a lefty, but it worked as described. A++

(Oh and I play for Liberty University Lynchburg, Va 24502 Starting Pitcher)

  • i wuz flickin my wrist really hard when i wuz throwin it today and ive never had that much movement on it before. i might make a vid of me throwin it so people can c wut kind of movement it has

  • True that. Im gonna call it the Alfred Ball. I have my next game Thursday and I am ready to pitch it. Its Really Not A Gyro Ball.

Its really called the Alfred Ball Now.

    -Cameron

  • From what i know, you hold a gyroball like a curve, throw fast and spin your fingers around the ball to get a sidewards spin like a bullet, at the last second the ball drops like a Splitter or Sinker. Check out the video "Matsuzaka Supposed GyroBall" It is supposedly not bad for your arm too, but i am not sure.

  • thats not a gyro ball

  • then how do u throw it?

  • well i dont know how to throw it, but your completely wrong, its not a gyro ball, its called a vulcan change up

  • Hey bud, a gyro is just a cutter. Thats why dice-k didn't know what people were talking about when media asked him about the gyro...cuz he was throwing a cutter. If you watch a vid with the rotation of the "gyro" it has the same EXACT spin as a slider/cutter but doesnt break as much cuz you are throwing it like a fastball without the "wrist action" that you would a slider...so actually its just a cutter. Honestly, research it.why do u think Mariano Rivera is so dominant...he throws a gyro-ball

  • The pitch you're showing is a screw ball. It is the opposite of a cutter and will move away from the arm that you're throwing it from. This pitch will mess up your arm...if you don't pronate (for idiots...turn your elbow outwards) correctly.

I can't believe you pitch for an allstar team...

Gyro balls stay in the plane and suddenly cut without breaking. This is physically impossible...pitches have to cut the air and either reduce the pressure on top or bottom to break. Learn some science.

  • i kno u think im retarded for putting this vid on hear but try to throw the pitch cuz its really nasty but u prolly dont even have the skill to throw it so wutev. yup and im a starter for my allstar team and i just threw a 1 hitter...and i can throw 73.

  • hm...I seem to not understand one thing...what does you throwing 73 have anything to do with the point at hand?

My point is, it is not a gyro ball. I know how to throw a screwball. Let me know when you make it to the big leagues. And if you have the slightest bit of control, you can throw 1 hitters at the little league level.

Learn to spell and not desecrate the English language...ignoramus.

  • why dont you shut up, its not a damn screw ball, believe me i throw a screwball, and im a pitcher on varsity, its actually a vulcan change up

  • no

u dont throw a screw ball ball with the 2 fingers on each side

  • The whole point of a screw ball is to break and move away from the arm that you throw it from. This is what the pitch does. Besides the two seam and four seam which in my opinion are the only pitches with definite grips. There are a crap load of grips for sliders, curves, and screws just like each pitchers pitches move and break differently. Depends on whether you want velocity or rotation (which leads to it breaking a certain way).

  • The plane cutting gyroball which you speak of is the FAKE gyroball which Baseball Prospectus columnist Will Carroll came up with. A true 4 seam gyro will have little to no break, will SEEM to the batter to be a slider, but in reality will travel at speeds close to a fastball. a 2 seam gyro will act as a changeup, looking like it will come in as a fastball. This happens because of the rotation of the 2 seam gyro, disrupting the constant "rifle bullet" air flow, thus slowing the ball down.

  • thats not a gyro but i tried it it is a nasty pitch

  • hmm i heard about that when i played highschool ball from a friend on another team. His pitcher had a pitch like that and he showed me, and the grip was alittle like yours just the placement was alittle difference but imma try this.

  • is that boegy from the bulldogs?

  • hey dude sweet pitch. i tried it its sickin nasty. im going to make a video soon on how to throw a sick eephus ( my way at least ) and it actually works u should check it out when its released

  • i am 13 and i use this pitch alot i threw a perfect game the other day and i threw tht pitch about 27 times and i can get it to just dive across the strike zone thanks to u ne way

  • in my last tournament i pitched a one hitter with 10 k's and i hit a homer...i used the gyro a lot and i got a lot of strikeouts with it
