The Machines are supposed to be the vengeful God and his angels of the OT who demands complete obedience from his subjects. Neo is supposed to be Jesus who gets the vengeful God to show mercy on the humans in exchange for his sacrifice. The rebel program of Smith is supposed to be Satan. Smith's ability to copy himself is allegory for how Satan corrupts mankind with his influence. Now that I'm older and rewatched it, this is what I got out of the ending; Cartesian allegory, not Baudrillard.
@AROMANNNNNN By your logic, all critical receptions of movies are failures simply because "all movies entertain" and that all critics should stfu and gtfo. There are critics because they think the movies don't entertain because of how the movie is made.
the movie is not that bad ya you bring up good points but if everybody were to just nitpick at every little thing they don't like nobody would have a favorite movie.
...and yeah, of course its the "Smith World" because he had taken over the Matrix as a virus, I find it hard, how people can be sooosososososso stupid!!!
About the hovercraft flying, this is 1000 years after 21st century, so maybe the hovercrafts are better, more improved, have you thought about that?!?!?!? Stop looking into it so much, no matter how much mistakes they are, they are all brilliant!!!!!!
This guy is a 1 minded fool. Tekkenman101 has a legit point, why even question something like that. why not question how the hell people can be placed into me matrix, why question how neo can see when he is blind but not question how the hell the machines are fucking floating. actually why is he questioning the ships ability to fly when the damn sentinels can fly. Sure the plot after the first movie was just... lol-able but stop picking at the little details...
@LazyKoreanBum Tekkenman101 hasn't stated a single "legit point." Seriously, cite a single one. This movie is completely awful and is only praised by amateur philosophers who think blatant obscurantism is equivalent to genuine insight.
@bonchbonch Cite one? It's called the fucking internet troll. Your inability TO USE A SEARCH ENGINE is not my fault. Amateur philosophers? Lmao. You're ridiculous. Calling professors with PhD's and more experience with academic philosophy "amateurs" is the epitome of stupidity. So you're inferring that you know more? You are quite facetious. I can care less about your garbage high school, or possible college schooling. Get educated and take an actual WESTERN philosophy class. Later.
@Tekkenman101 Ah, you're one of those guys who responds with "search Google!" whenever anyone asks you to back up your points. I'm not going to do your research for you. You lost this argument BAD. No wonder you're running away and trying to get out of it.
"How long has he been able to do that? If Smith can fly then why didn't all the smiths fly after Neo in the reloaded fight? C-Can we have a hint?" Anderson wasn't able to do it in Reloaded because he didn't have the knowledge or strength to do it. Neo tells the main A.I. "The program Smith has GROWN beyond your control -- You cannot stop him." Keyword, GROWN. Smith obviously mimicked Neo's flight to prevent him from escaping the way he did in Reloaded. By the way, I want to punch you in the face
@xxRoguexx Some movies require you to think. What a pathetic detail to knit pick. "Hey everyone it's over, he did it!" The character who made that assumption was a firm believer that Neo would put an end to the war. He was such a firm believer that he wanted to join the Nebuchadnezzar crew to be a part of the prophecy. The prophecy being that Neo would put an end to the war. So when machines stopped attacking randomly before Zion's destruction with Neo missing, who the fuck do you think did it?
@xxRoguexx That's a wild leap of a conclusion. Absolutely nothing in Neo's statement suggests Smith has suddenly gained the ability to fly since the fight in Reloaded. The reality is that the Wachowskis resort to obscurantism to avoid having to explain the events in their plot. It's pretty amusing that you want to resort to physical violence when someone criticizes your terrible movie.
Am I the only one that along with confusedmatthew thinks these movies are retarded? Well i really shouldn't expect americans to actually stop and THINK about things like matthew points out.
@cjmws People who generalize about the intelligence of other groups of people are thereby ultimately propagating the image of their own ignorance and stupidity. Considering most other LEGITIMATE critics, who have devoted their time and study to literary film analysis, generally like The Matrix trilogy + The Animatrix it seems as if Consfusedmatthew truly is "confused". His critique is comparable to that of a child with little understanding of the films plot and context. Basically, he knows jack.
@Tekkenman101 You don't cite a single one of these supposed "LEGITIMATE" critics who "generally like" the Matrix trilogy. The sequels were widely panned and are considered a major disappointment. Their plots don't even make sense internally, from Neo getting the number of sentinels wrong to Neo getting the Architect's speech wrong.
@bonchbonch It's called looking at IMBD, Roger Ebert, Wikipedia, Rotten Tomatoes, Yahoo Movies, etc. Are you somehow incapable of using a simple search technique? This rebuttal is garbage. Don't waste my time if you haven't done any research. Pathetic.
@bonchbonch Part 2: Also, your examples at the end of your comment don't make any sense. Neo never got the architects speech wrong, what the fuck does that even imply. The architect was wrong about Neo which was implied in the final ending scene of the third movie. Number of sentinels wrong? What kind of trivial criticisms are you spewing from your ass?
@Tekkenman101 Yes, he got the Architect's speech wrong. It's detailed right in the review--Neo told the Oracle a different ultimatum from what the Architect actually told him at the end of Matrix Reloaded. Zion was going to be destroyed regardless of what Neo did. As for getting the number of sentinels wrong, you're dismissing it as a "trivial criticism" because you can't refute it--the movie doesn't even know what its own characters are saying or doing. IT'S GETTING ITS OWN PLOT WRONG.
I think the smiths dying though has something to do with there being a host smith...who's essentially the "mothership" for the rest of them...kind of like how the donut ship in episode one caused all of the droids to be destroyed?
And hence why the fight with this smith, who I'm assuming is the host and therefore the most powerful one, was so much more menacing than the fight with the million smiths in reloaded?
Wow, he doesn't even understand how Neo destroyed Smith. They're dopplegangers of each other you fucking moron. Smith is as much a part of Neo as Neo is a part of Smith. Neo joined with Smith and the machines used Neo to RECONNECT to the SOURCE you dumb ass. The MACHINES destroyed SMITH through the proxy of NEO. Sigh....fucking dumb ass reviewers with the intellect of a twelve year old.
@Tekkenman101 The Matrix sequels were complete garbage. Stop spamming the comments with defensive bullshit that doesn't actually address the review, you overly emotional fanboy.
@bonchbonch The irony in your comment is hilarious. Only two things need to be said here (troll) likewise, and Roger Eberts review(s). Have a great life.
@Tekkenman101 Apparently you don't understand what irony is. And what does Roger Ebert have to do with anything whatsoever? You just can't think of any counterarguments, so you're running away from this debate, which means I won. The Matrix sequels suck, and people who like them justify their shiftiness by inventing a bunch of meaning in them. Next.
@bonchbonch Apparently you don't know how to comprehend what people type. I've already listed out several arguments throughout these pages. Are you somewhat illiterate? I mentioned Roger Ebert because unlike this YouTube twat named confusedmatthew, Roger is a renowned analytical film critic. Also, propagating that you've won an argument on the basis of inherent misunderstanding on your part is a fallacy where you presume too much. "Inventing meaning"? Nice argument from incredulity. *clap clap*
@Tekkenman101 No, you didn't list any arguments. You just bitched about the reviewer because you didn't like what he was saying, but you didn't refute any of his points. Nobody cares if Roger Ebert is a renowned film critic, as if that matters. The fact is, the Matrix sequels suck, but fanboys like you attach some deep philosophical meanings to them to try to justify the terrible writing and acting. You're embarrassing.
@bonchbonch I didn't list any arguments? Clearly, you're lacking in the art of reading comprehension. You might want to take some time to read the several posts I made. Of course I didn't like what he was stating, what's your point? You're bitching about my bitching? You're failing at trying to be facetious. Nobody cares about Roger Ebert? Haha, you obviously don't know squat about film critiquing just like this YouTube twat confusedmatthew. Considering The Matrix is in Phil. classrooms you lose
@Tekkenman101 Correct, you didn't list any arguments. The majority of what you posted was already addressed in the review, so clearly your fanboy rage blocked your ears. And yes, nobody cares about Roger Ebert. It doesn't matter if the Matrix is in Philadelphia classrooms--there are also college classes that teach Klingon.
Face it, you like a big, dumb action movie and attribute some kind of deeper meaning to it to justify its horrible writing and acting. It's embarrassing. Next.
@bonchbonch I did list arguments, but your illiteracy is a hindrance when it comes to your reading comprehension. I guess you're not educated enough to understand them. Also, anyone with any true intellect for the analytical cares about what Roger Ebert thinks, so you saying otherwise is only a demonstration of your idiocy. He is one of my most renowned film critics in history, good job. You obviously know little-to-nothing about philosophy considering the Matrix is a compilation of varying ones
@bonchbonch you're not even attacking the movie, you're attacking a fan because you don't like the way he feels about the movie. you throw in shitty generalizations about the movie in order to make your personal disses seem more cohesive and justified, when instead of proving that he's a fanboy you should be proving that the movie really is as bad as you say it is. nothing that you've said about the movie is a given, you're just using your arrogance as an excuse for proper evidence.
@legendarywar1 No, I'm not. I'm attacking him because his rebuttals of the criticism in the video suck. The movie really is as bad as I say, but you don't like the fact that I'm stating an opinion you don't like, so you're going to call me arrogant.
@bonchbonch whether or not i like your opinion has nothing to do with this, i'm merely pointing out that your opinions should be more directed towards the movie rather than a fan of it. i'm calling you arrogant because you seem to have a general disregard for providing evidence as if it is not necessary; you assert your opinion over his as if you are right and he is not, which defeats the purpose of an opinion.
@legendarywar1 It has everything to do with it. You don't like what I'm saying because you're a fan of the movie. I provided evidence, as did this video, which is what we're commenting on. There's no "find your own path" here, no opinions that can both be right--the Matrix sequels most definitely and clearly suck.
@bonchbonch so closed minded. "the Matrix sequels most definitely and clearly suck." it really doesn't matter how bad you think it is, it's still just an opinion. the sooner you get over yourself you might realize that. also, you claim to have provided evidence, but you really haven't. you mentioned one decent point about smith's ability to fly, but everything else was just a collection of your own opinions involving the philosophical nature of the movie.
@legendarywar1 You have yet to refute a single one of the criticisms given in these videos. Also, people who use the phrase "get over yourself" generally don't know what else to say. As for the philosophical nature of the movie, there barely is one, and its philosophical contradictions were pointed out in these reviews. I clearly won this debate. Next.
@bonchbonch i really don't need to refute any of the criticisms. they're all opinions one way or another. sure, there are plot holes. but whether or not you think that affects your movie viewing experience in a negative way is your opinion. i personally found both reloaded and revolutions quite enjoyable in spite of their flaws. since i told you to get over yourself, i must not know what to say? sounds like a silly rationalization.
@legendarywar1 Ah, so this is the tact you're going to take. You have zero counterarguments against the points raised in these reviews, so you're going to dismiss everything as "opinions." So, it's just an opinion that Neo got the number of sentinels wrong or got the Architect's dialogue wrong or that characters behave in inexplicably illogical ways (why didn't Seraph use his magic keys to save Sati?). Etc. etc. etc.
@bonchbonch like i said, whether or not the little technicalities ruined your movie experience is your opinion. i have many countearguments for the points raised in these reviews, but since the matrix sequels "clearly suck," i guess it really doesn't serve much purpose for me to share said counterarguments. you've dismissed the idea that this movie is good, even to a remote degree, so yes, dismissing your opinions as being merely opinions is the "tact i'm going to take."
Did he just say that the fight between Smith vs Neo was BORING? His he fucking stupid? That was the BEST fight in the entire TRILOGY. This guy is a douche.
@superhuman295 The subway fight will be a classic for all of history, but I liked the feel and visuals of this one more. Also, I'm just going to stick to professional reviews rather than some twit on youtube using pseudo-analytical techniques and bitching about flying hovercrafts/ships. Roger Ebert, washington times, etc. all hit the right points in their reviews.
Is he seriously complaining about the hovercraft? Fucking pathetic. ITS A SHIP MORON IN THE FUTURE. If you're going to complain about that you might as well fucking complain about HOW ARE THERE SUCH INTELLIGENT MACHINES? See how stupid it is when you complain about trivial things? Confused matthew is actually ignorant matthew.
Dumbest review I have ever read. Reloaded and Revolutions were supposed to be ONE movie. And the Animatrix was supposed to be the THIRD film after. However, Warner Bros STOPPED them and the Animatrix couldn't be made due to the technology at the time. Bullshit philosophy? Are you fucking stupid? Secrum Simulacra? Modernism? Descartes who was the most influential to western philosophy in history? LOL. This guy is ignorant. Who dislikes amazing action sequences mixed with philosophy and theism?
If there was sunlight above the clouds, why did the machines went trough all the trouble of building the matrix to use the humans as anergy sources when they just could've bulit solar panels or some crap tall enough that would reach sunlight??!! they certanly had the resources to build such a thing.
what the fuck is up with the superpowers in real life i understand he could have some in computer world if he hacks and stuff ohh i know he is the chosen one right ...
what the fuck is up with the superpowers in real life i understand he could have some in computer world if he hacks and stuff ohh i know he is the chosen one right ...
Smith is like a computer virus in the Matrix. The machines didn't know how to get rid of him, so Neo let the machines use his body as a trap so the machines can regain a direct connection to Smith. So when Smith took over Neo, the machines were able to delete Smith. The machines were like antibodies where Smith is like a virus or bacteria. Once it learns how to fight it, it will kill the rest.
You made some good points but the trilogy is still Awesome! Now instead of trying to be funny and talking out of your ass let's see you make a better movie! Correction, a multi-million dollar trilogy that has influenced other movies and our culture.
The computers used the wires that were into Neo to take over him and wipe Smith out like a virus. That why they needed Neo to make sure Smith would no know anything was up. There you go :P
your fucking bumb... the matrix is not the matrix anymore because Smith fucked it up!! thats the whole point to this! to show that Smith is taking over everything! damn you really dont have a clue about what the hell is going on in these movies do you!!?
@Twiggz519, I was simply amazed that Matthew missed the whole "Smith is like a virus, he won't stop until nothing left". WHICH IS EXCATLY WHAT HE DID IN THE MATRIX!!! Matthew has a habit of ignoring plot points than complaining about them not making sense. Matthew likely watches movies with groups of people who tend to bitch as they watch the movie intead of paying atttention so they won't miss anything. I don't mind him being critical of the film, but at least have valid arguments.
@Tekkenman101, I think Matthew missed the entire point of what the Matrix films were trying to do, they weren't trying to preach a certain type of philosophy, but mearly make people think and EXPOSE the general audience to the idea of philosophy. I bet many people who never even gave the subject a thought became interested in it after watching the movies.
Why did Neo killing Agent Smith in the Matrix cancel everything out? Because the Smith he killed was the original. Problem solved. Thus peace. Although how the humans knew there was peace was kinda funny :P
Oh god..... I can't stop laughing... and yet, I still love the Matrix, probably more for the potential than anything else, but yeah...it could have been WAY better
only oracle smith could fly, and because neo was connected to the machine main frame (source) which is where programs are returened to be deleted so when neo was taken over by smith that smith was then connected to the source ready to be deleted by the machines so because all the smith are hive minded and all connected one smith gone all smith gone.
@Lynchotype - but, they're programs. Why couldn't the smiths just copy the 0s and 1s that make up the oracle Smith and proceed to whomp ass? Additionally, why the the hell couldn't the machines just reboot the matrix or something? Will the machines of the future simply forget all knowledge of system restoring?
How were those buildings fixed? The ones in the real world? Wouldn't they actually looked all crumbled like the ones we saw when they were revealed to us in the 1st movie?
Your asking for way to much from this movie. Just because it doesnt make sense to you doesnt mean you have to bash the movie for it. Not everything has to tie in like you want it to be or be as deep as you want it to be. Its a movie, its here to entertain. Thats it. You spend the whole review bitching at minor flaws and then bitching when there is action. What why all the complaining? Theres no reason for it. Get over your self.
@skeith212 A movie is a film. Film making is an ART form. I'm sorry but you're probably just an american who likes popcorn flicks. Forbid some others from trying to ask a little more from movies than just entertainment. You obviously have no respect or idea of the true craft of it. So just go watch Transformers and shut the fuck up.
Really i dont give a fuck. If its entertaining and tells a good story then thats fine, thats what movies are suppose to do. Not every movie is suppose to be very deep and appeal to people who want such. And just because theres holes doesnt mean its a bad movies. Evolution has holes in it does that make it wrong? Fuck off kid.
@skeith212 This movie is a steaming pile of shit compared to the first movie. The first movie wasn't "very deep". But it was an excellent action movie with a good story and interesting characters. That's a movie. This movie has a none existent story line, redundant characters and unexplained bullshit. This is a BAD movie. And this reviewer is pointing that out with detailed videos which can be found entertaining. It's just a detailed review and this guy has a right to express his opinion.
And im ok with that. BUT when your complaining about how a hover craft is suppose to work in the future it seems like your complaining just to complain. And then he says the final battle was uninteresting....That battle was epic and i have never heard anyone complain about seeing a fight i mean who complains when there is fighting going on....Like i said hes complaining just complain.
@charlesvan13 By all meanings I'm not. Puerto Rico is a common wealth of America. We belong to it, we aren't a part of it. Don't even get me started on that part our history.
@charlesvan13 I do have an american citizenship but I am Puertorican, this debate continues in my own country to see what we really are. but I believe I am foremost Puertorican, and I don't say it as if I'm proud of it, because I'm not. It's just what I am. But don't you try to tell me what I am.
@WeNeedABetterName Not like the Transformers are such fun to begin with. The action is really boring and the characters are either 1 dimensional, that I dont care about them, or so annoying, that i want them to die.
It is clear, that my concept has one breach - the matrix HAD samples of Smith. Just common sense - why not track the Ex-Agents pattern during the absorbtion?
Plus, with Agents' ability to a "body-to-body" they must've had some protocols for that kind of tracking.
Or, maybe, Smith ust went so human-like, that he couldn't exist without a "body". Remember, he's a virus.
All of those questions are nil except one - why won't the machines use ONLY TNS as power supply?
Well, probably it's just Smiths new ability to create networks, or, even more probable... you know, the Matrix seemed to fail in retrieving Smith's NEW pattern, or identity. Nah, whatever... When Smith absorbed Neo, he in fact got plugged to FATHER himself.
Big surprise. Not fair. Oh, no!!! AAAH!
So, with pattern acknowledged it was quite easy to purge the Matrix.
Now, the question left is:
How many people got swallowed by Smith? I mean, in numbers? 1kk, 1kkk?
Neo dies when Smith absorbs him, and that is his sacrifice.
I don't think that Smith actually dies because of "loss-of-purpose", though all of "a coin can't have only one side" aphorisms seem to fit perfectly here.
Yet still, I don't feel like searching for those ethereal-astral-etc explanations. I think that Smith was executed by the Architect, 'cause by tainting Neo he actually "Returned to the Source". It was just a termination.
i have two interpretations on the whole Neo/Smith death. 1) the "Machine" emperor downloaded a purge virus into neo as he was taken over which was downloaded into the other smiths causing death. 2) Neo/smith being Counter opposites of each other was dependent upon their purposes for each other. Neos purpose was to be absorbed by the source saving zion while Smiths purpose(New purpose) Was to destroy neo. Once he fullfilled it, He ceases to exist (Metaphorically speaking, lol)
@Herowebcomics yeah they can because they knew where neo was going. Seeing the machines stop and retreat leads to the LOGICAL conclusion that Neo had something to do with it. Sigh.
Look, Mathew.... One of the reasons of Smith coming back, was to destroy Neo. When he makes Neo one of him, he destroys him. Therefore he completes his mission. Keep in mind that Smith is a program, so after he finishes his mission, he has no reason to be in the Matrix and is destroyed too. So much for freedom. xD
yea i find this kid's opinion of the film very educated, and he comes out to be bluntly stupid. He has the understanding of a child and doesent seem to grasp the implicit details about this movie, which imo makes this movie so great. The whole reason why Neo died the way he did because it symbolized the death of Jesus Christ. I mean come on kid, Neo means new, he was carried out in a crucificial pattern, and he made peace with the robots. Plug all that in and you get a Neo (New) Covenant. Peace
Imagine if the Lord of the Rings (let's speculate hypothetically that there were not books they based them on) would have ended with Aragorn making peace with Sauron and the orchs and all the other baddies agreed to stay in Mordor. Would we feel cheated? Hell yes.
How about the Emperor not being killed in the final Star Wars and some peace treaty being signed?
They should have let either the humans defeat the machines or the machines totally annihilate all human resistance to make a dark ending
In the first Matrix Morpheus says:"Humanity can never be free as long as the matrix exists".
So, destroying the matrix and liberating the billions of humans connected to it was the whole point of the war.
In the Matrix Revolution the matrix is NOT destroyed, the machines are NOT defeated and the only thing we see is some "peace", and since it's said machines nees humans to survive and the humans need to free people from the matrix I don't see how that peace will last more than a day or two.
Shut the fuck up and go back to your videogames before I carefully explain what a total fool you are.
I love how all you morons always think you're so smart because some contrieved mess makes sense to your videogame brains.
Just for you I will deliver two nasty punches into your stupid face. Punch 1: The criticical consensus from all critics on Rottentomatoes resulted in a 27% rotten rating. What's your profession? Punch 2: It didn't make half the box office of the previous film.
plus i do not trust rotten potatoes. Many of their ratings i agree with but also many of them are simply difficult to understand. -they gave "The Social Network" a damn 96%, when i absolutely abhorred the movie
For some reason they seem to rate harder and deliberately give 'em lower scores (of course there are exceptions)
Finally, my comment was, "You're a fucking retard you definitely did not watch the movie carefully"
the smith's all died, at least from the theory that i've heard, because when the smith took over Neo the machine city was directly plugged into him and so the "source" sent a deletion code through neo which destroyed smith and all other codes of smith throughout the matrix
and insert a self-destructing command. The modification to the program was spread to all the other infections, causing the chain reaction that we see.
@MrHyde107 This guy, (not you my hyde, but this fucking matthew) had not watched the movie carefully enough, and he is enough stupid enough to make disgusting commentaries about them. He is one of those useless movie reviewers who only looks at the actions and basic storylines, and skips all the long conversations. THEY WERE ACTUALLY IMPORTANT. IF you actually watched the movie more carefully, THEN YOU"D UNDERSTAND
This also explains why, when the Smith program was destroyed, the people that he had taken over did not die, as their actual consciousnesses were unaffected, only their representations within the Matrix. Now, when Smith took over Neo in that final sequence, Neo was being controlled by the Machines, and so a copy of the Smith program came under the control of the Machines, while still being plugged into the Matrix. With this control, the Machines were able to modify the Smith program (cont.)
@MrHyde107 He says "WE ARE BECAUSE OF YOU MR.ANDERSON, YOU ARE OUR PURPOSE" therefore we can conclude, Smith made his own purpose, killing neo, so when he actually killed neo, he was our of purpose. So, as the random program in the subway explained, a program, such as smith, is deleted automatically by the basic infrastructures of the matrix. That's why smith died when he killed Neo
Most ordinary humans can't fight Smith when he takes over their Matrix-form, as these human are controlled by the Matrix, and Smith has maintained some code that identifies him as part of the Matrix, and the Matrix can't fight back against itself. However, when Smith took over Bane, the operational elements of the code moved into Bane's actual consciousness, rather than just his Matrix representation. In this way, when Bane was killed, there was no effect on the rest of the Smith program.(cont.)
@MrHyde107 I don't actually think that's how smith died. In the beginning of the movie, Neo speaks with a random "Indian looking" (no racism) program. The program explains. If a program does not have a purpose, it is deleted automatically by the basic infrastructure of the matrix. Now, in matrix reloaded, the conversation before Smith and Neo has a big fight, (where loads of smith just came) Smith says "it's the purpose that drives us, it's the purpose that leads us,, blah blah blah then......"
Here's an explanation for how Smith was destroyed. Now Smith was a program, a virus in fact, given how he quickly copies himself and infects new hosts (somewhat ironic given how Smith compares humanity to a virus in the first movie). So all the Smiths' representations in the Matrix consist of the Smith viral code hijacking the already-present source code of the person. That explains how the Oracle-Smith could fly: the Smith-code took over the functionality of the original program. (contd.)
the way i see the victory of neo over smith is simple neo never try to beat him he just wanted smith to infect him so the matrix witch is still connected to neo's body can destroy the smiths from the inside
but this rise a other problem because all of the others smith are in fact peoples connected to the matrix which means neo is useless
Even if it would probably cost more money than it did for this one...
We should have seen a MegaSmith fight instead of a one-on-one, because even the Wachowski Bros. think it's better than a martyr thing. SUCK MAH BALLZ U TWO!!!
Well its because since the machine face thingy had direct access to a smith program thru Neo, it was able to delete it and all the other smith "viruses" in the program. like if the body kills a strain, it now is immune to a replica of that same virus
@ShadowGunner82 I knowm right??? the conclusion of the series wa victory for Zion, which doesn matter cz if zion got destoryed five times, who cares? sorry about the vomit puke
I think the surge of energy when Neo is absorbed meant to imply that the machines, monitoring Neo, infected Smith with a virus because Neo gave them the window of opportunity.
Then the Wachowskis remembered the other six billion people in the Matrix....
Also, totally agree, if Neo's powers are because his brain pattern resembles the mainframe, why the fire vision....I think, they saw "Deep Dive" from kingdom hearts, and totally wanted in on that.
Ah yes! Finally, a reviewer can actually show that this movie was just a pile of CGI and post modern philosophical crap. Good job, Confused Mattew, for you are the best YouTube critic!
When the ship flew over the clouds it completely destroyed THE FIRST MOVIE'S PREMISE that humans were used as batteries because the machines had no other power source. Wait, they couldn't build towers that go OVER THE CLOUDS to get their solar energy? We clearly see that a ship can fly over the clouds, so whats stopping the machines from erecting a tower? WAY TO RUIN THE ENTIRE FILMS.
i think its very gentle from the machines to create a face so neo maybe feels more comfortable caus hes actually talking to a face! :-) i think this isnt bad. i cant follow ur critisim on that incident. the rest is well spoken. the movie sucked.
Thank you for the review Matthew. You proved to the world how this whole Matrix thing was shit since the FIRST movie. The Matrix was all about action and shit philosophy for 4 years old kid. Inception, a SINGLE movie, put every thing that the Matrix has done to shame.
I can defend the second one because it was mildly entertaining. But this pile of crap just didn't have anything worth filming. There was barely even any Matrix in it...until the end. It's like the Wachowski's wanted to make a mech movie instead.
The movie is bad but watchable. Smith freaks out cause he has the eyes of the oracle and sees the future. He absorbs neo..neo becomes a smith hence he's connected to the machines so they destroy him to destroy them all. Its bad but its implied. Just like the little girl.
the reason why Smith couldnt fly in the reloaded fight was coz he hadnt lreant by then he was still gaining more powers and as he got stronger and mutiplyed he was some how able too do it even tho this film takes place a few hours after reloaded finishes off during that time he was taking over the matrix and was able too then control it another reason why its raining wen neo goes back in
none of that shit was obvious or vaguely explained...this pretends to be smart and makes people think they're smart too... by makin shit up and trying to convince us that its intelligent ...which is like the machines trying to convince us that they have intelligence..blah blah blah...see how contagious that can be ...STOP MAKIN SHIT UP....WTF ...
After Smith copied himself onto the Oracle, he could now see the Matrix as Neo does. He is no longer bound by the code, so like Neo, he can now fly. Don't be so offended mr. literal, it's a fucking fantasy movie. Just sit back and enjoy, don't dissect it like a pissed off kid with down syndrome hacking at a frog in 8th grade biology. Bad Corky! Bad, Bad!
@Breinstein99 thanks for explaining..or making shit up ..just like the stupid writers of this film did.
none of that shit was obvious or vaguely explained...this pretends to be smart and makes people think they're smart too... by makin shit up and trying to convince us that its intelligent ...which is like the machines trying to convince us that they have intelligence..blah blah blah...see how contagious that can be ...STOP MAKIN SHIT UP....WTF ...
@twogenius Dude...seriously, you need to smoke a bowl and chill the frik out. Then watch the movie again, cuz it is way better stoned out o' your gord. Also, you really must have been a disappoint to your family, cuz u are not only ignorant, but completely stupid. Every movie ever made.....MAKES SHIT UP, YOU STUPID FUCKING MORON. That's what movies do, make stuff up to entertain people. It wasn't meant to be obvious, because they wanted you, to pull your head out of your ass, (Cont'd)
@twogenius ...and think for once in your worthless, puny existence. Or don't think, that's what so great about movies. Just watch it with your dumb, blank stare. Don't be a retard and say we're just makin shit up, because u don't have a clue of what's goin on. Now go pee on someone else's leg, and leave me alone. Your parents must really regret not getting that abortion. I hope u slip in a puddle of AIDS and crack ur skull u judgmental prick.

AROMANNNNNN 2 weeks ago
@AROMANNNNNN By your logic, all critical receptions of movies are failures simply because "all movies entertain" and that all critics should stfu and gtfo. There are critics because they think the movies don't entertain because of how the movie is made.

LazyKoreanBum 3 months ago
@LazyKoreanBum Tekkenman101 hasn't stated a single "legit point." Seriously, cite a single one. This movie is completely awful and is only praised by amateur philosophers who think blatant obscurantism is equivalent to genuine insight.
bonchbonch 2 months ago
@bonchbonch Cite one? It's called the fucking internet troll. Your inability TO USE A SEARCH ENGINE is not my fault. Amateur philosophers? Lmao. You're ridiculous. Calling professors with PhD's and more experience with academic philosophy "amateurs" is the epitome of stupidity. So you're inferring that you know more? You are quite facetious. I can care less about your garbage high school, or possible college schooling. Get educated and take an actual WESTERN philosophy class. Later.
Tekkenman101 2 months ago
@Tekkenman101 Ah, you're one of those guys who responds with "search Google!" whenever anyone asks you to back up your points. I'm not going to do your research for you. You lost this argument BAD. No wonder you're running away and trying to get out of it.
bonchbonch 2 months ago
"How long has he been able to do that? If Smith can fly then why didn't all the smiths fly after Neo in the reloaded fight? C-Can we have a hint?" Anderson wasn't able to do it in Reloaded because he didn't have the knowledge or strength to do it. Neo tells the main A.I. "The program Smith has GROWN beyond your control -- You cannot stop him." Keyword, GROWN. Smith obviously mimicked Neo's flight to prevent him from escaping the way he did in Reloaded. By the way, I want to punch you in the face
xxRoguexx 3 months ago
@xxRoguexx Some movies require you to think. What a pathetic detail to knit pick. "Hey everyone it's over, he did it!" The character who made that assumption was a firm believer that Neo would put an end to the war. He was such a firm believer that he wanted to join the Nebuchadnezzar crew to be a part of the prophecy. The prophecy being that Neo would put an end to the war. So when machines stopped attacking randomly before Zion's destruction with Neo missing, who the fuck do you think did it?
xxRoguexx 3 months ago
@xxRoguexx These movies do the exact opposite of making you think. Also, it's spelled "nitpick," not "knit pick."
bonchbonch 2 months ago
@xxRoguexx That's a wild leap of a conclusion. Absolutely nothing in Neo's statement suggests Smith has suddenly gained the ability to fly since the fight in Reloaded. The reality is that the Wachowskis resort to obscurantism to avoid having to explain the events in their plot. It's pretty amusing that you want to resort to physical violence when someone criticizes your terrible movie.

cjmws 4 months ago
@cjmws People who generalize about the intelligence of other groups of people are thereby ultimately propagating the image of their own ignorance and stupidity. Considering most other LEGITIMATE critics, who have devoted their time and study to literary film analysis, generally like The Matrix trilogy + The Animatrix it seems as if Consfusedmatthew truly is "confused". His critique is comparable to that of a child with little understanding of the films plot and context. Basically, he knows jack.
Tekkenman101 4 months ago
@Tekkenman101 You don't cite a single one of these supposed "LEGITIMATE" critics who "generally like" the Matrix trilogy. The sequels were widely panned and are considered a major disappointment. Their plots don't even make sense internally, from Neo getting the number of sentinels wrong to Neo getting the Architect's speech wrong.
bonchbonch 2 months ago
@bonchbonch It's called looking at IMBD, Roger Ebert, Wikipedia, Rotten Tomatoes, Yahoo Movies, etc. Are you somehow incapable of using a simple search technique? This rebuttal is garbage. Don't waste my time if you haven't done any research. Pathetic.
Tekkenman101 2 months ago
@bonchbonch Part 2: Also, your examples at the end of your comment don't make any sense. Neo never got the architects speech wrong, what the fuck does that even imply. The architect was wrong about Neo which was implied in the final ending scene of the third movie. Number of sentinels wrong? What kind of trivial criticisms are you spewing from your ass?
Tekkenman101 2 months ago
@Tekkenman101 Yes, he got the Architect's speech wrong. It's detailed right in the review--Neo told the Oracle a different ultimatum from what the Architect actually told him at the end of Matrix Reloaded. Zion was going to be destroyed regardless of what Neo did. As for getting the number of sentinels wrong, you're dismissing it as a "trivial criticism" because you can't refute it--the movie doesn't even know what its own characters are saying or doing. IT'S GETTING ITS OWN PLOT WRONG.
bonchbonch 2 months ago
I think the smiths dying though has something to do with there being a host smith...who's essentially the "mothership" for the rest of them...kind of like how the donut ship in episode one caused all of the droids to be destroyed?
And hence why the fight with this smith, who I'm assuming is the host and therefore the most powerful one, was so much more menacing than the fight with the million smiths in reloaded?
That's just my guess.
Spjungen 4 months ago
Wow, he doesn't even understand how Neo destroyed Smith. They're dopplegangers of each other you fucking moron. Smith is as much a part of Neo as Neo is a part of Smith. Neo joined with Smith and the machines used Neo to RECONNECT to the SOURCE you dumb ass. The MACHINES destroyed SMITH through the proxy of NEO. Sigh....fucking dumb ass reviewers with the intellect of a twelve year old.

@Tekkenman101 The Matrix sequels were complete garbage. Stop spamming the comments with defensive bullshit that doesn't actually address the review, you overly emotional fanboy.
bonchbonch 4 months ago
@bonchbonch The irony in your comment is hilarious. Only two things need to be said here (troll) likewise, and Roger Eberts review(s). Have a great life.
Tekkenman101 4 months ago
@Tekkenman101 Apparently you don't understand what irony is. And what does Roger Ebert have to do with anything whatsoever? You just can't think of any counterarguments, so you're running away from this debate, which means I won. The Matrix sequels suck, and people who like them justify their shiftiness by inventing a bunch of meaning in them. Next.
bonchbonch 4 months ago
@bonchbonch Apparently you don't know how to comprehend what people type. I've already listed out several arguments throughout these pages. Are you somewhat illiterate? I mentioned Roger Ebert because unlike this YouTube twat named confusedmatthew, Roger is a renowned analytical film critic. Also, propagating that you've won an argument on the basis of inherent misunderstanding on your part is a fallacy where you presume too much. "Inventing meaning"? Nice argument from incredulity. *clap clap*
Tekkenman101 4 months ago
@Tekkenman101 No, you didn't list any arguments. You just bitched about the reviewer because you didn't like what he was saying, but you didn't refute any of his points. Nobody cares if Roger Ebert is a renowned film critic, as if that matters. The fact is, the Matrix sequels suck, but fanboys like you attach some deep philosophical meanings to them to try to justify the terrible writing and acting. You're embarrassing.
bonchbonch 3 months ago
@bonchbonch I didn't list any arguments? Clearly, you're lacking in the art of reading comprehension. You might want to take some time to read the several posts I made. Of course I didn't like what he was stating, what's your point? You're bitching about my bitching? You're failing at trying to be facetious. Nobody cares about Roger Ebert? Haha, you obviously don't know squat about film critiquing just like this YouTube twat confusedmatthew. Considering The Matrix is in Phil. classrooms you lose
Tekkenman101 3 months ago
@Tekkenman101 Correct, you didn't list any arguments. The majority of what you posted was already addressed in the review, so clearly your fanboy rage blocked your ears. And yes, nobody cares about Roger Ebert. It doesn't matter if the Matrix is in Philadelphia classrooms--there are also college classes that teach Klingon.
Face it, you like a big, dumb action movie and attribute some kind of deeper meaning to it to justify its horrible writing and acting. It's embarrassing. Next.
bonchbonch 3 months ago
@bonchbonch I did list arguments, but your illiteracy is a hindrance when it comes to your reading comprehension. I guess you're not educated enough to understand them. Also, anyone with any true intellect for the analytical cares about what Roger Ebert thinks, so you saying otherwise is only a demonstration of your idiocy. He is one of my most renowned film critics in history, good job. You obviously know little-to-nothing about philosophy considering the Matrix is a compilation of varying ones
Tekkenman101 3 months ago
@bonchbonch you're not even attacking the movie, you're attacking a fan because you don't like the way he feels about the movie. you throw in shitty generalizations about the movie in order to make your personal disses seem more cohesive and justified, when instead of proving that he's a fanboy you should be proving that the movie really is as bad as you say it is. nothing that you've said about the movie is a given, you're just using your arrogance as an excuse for proper evidence.
legendarywar1 2 months ago
@legendarywar1 No, I'm not. I'm attacking him because his rebuttals of the criticism in the video suck. The movie really is as bad as I say, but you don't like the fact that I'm stating an opinion you don't like, so you're going to call me arrogant.
bonchbonch 2 months ago
@bonchbonch whether or not i like your opinion has nothing to do with this, i'm merely pointing out that your opinions should be more directed towards the movie rather than a fan of it. i'm calling you arrogant because you seem to have a general disregard for providing evidence as if it is not necessary; you assert your opinion over his as if you are right and he is not, which defeats the purpose of an opinion.
legendarywar1 2 months ago
@legendarywar1 It has everything to do with it. You don't like what I'm saying because you're a fan of the movie. I provided evidence, as did this video, which is what we're commenting on. There's no "find your own path" here, no opinions that can both be right--the Matrix sequels most definitely and clearly suck.
bonchbonch 2 months ago
@bonchbonch so closed minded. "the Matrix sequels most definitely and clearly suck." it really doesn't matter how bad you think it is, it's still just an opinion. the sooner you get over yourself you might realize that. also, you claim to have provided evidence, but you really haven't. you mentioned one decent point about smith's ability to fly, but everything else was just a collection of your own opinions involving the philosophical nature of the movie.
legendarywar1 2 months ago
@legendarywar1 You have yet to refute a single one of the criticisms given in these videos. Also, people who use the phrase "get over yourself" generally don't know what else to say. As for the philosophical nature of the movie, there barely is one, and its philosophical contradictions were pointed out in these reviews. I clearly won this debate. Next.
bonchbonch 2 months ago
@bonchbonch i really don't need to refute any of the criticisms. they're all opinions one way or another. sure, there are plot holes. but whether or not you think that affects your movie viewing experience in a negative way is your opinion. i personally found both reloaded and revolutions quite enjoyable in spite of their flaws. since i told you to get over yourself, i must not know what to say? sounds like a silly rationalization.
legendarywar1 2 months ago

Get over your self.
skeith212 7 months ago
@skeith212 A movie is a film. Film making is an ART form. I'm sorry but you're probably just an american who likes popcorn flicks. Forbid some others from trying to ask a little more from movies than just entertainment. You obviously have no respect or idea of the true craft of it. So just go watch Transformers and shut the fuck up.
WeNeedABetterName 7 months ago
@WeNeedABetterName
Fuck off kid.
skeith212 7 months ago
@skeith212 This movie is a steaming pile of shit compared to the first movie. The first movie wasn't "very deep". But it was an excellent action movie with a good story and interesting characters. That's a movie. This movie has a none existent story line, redundant characters and unexplained bullshit. This is a BAD movie. Ikarosus 4 months ago
And the last thing.
It's a movie.
WerIstTeufel 7 months ago
Well, probably it's just Smiths new ability to create networks, or, even more probable... you know, the Matrix seemed to fail in retrieving Smith's NEW pattern, or identity. Nah, whatever... When Smith absorbed Neo, he in fact got plugged to FATHER himself.
Big surprise. Not fair. Oh, no!!! AAAH!
So, with pattern acknowledged it was quite easy to purge the Matrix.
Now, the question left is:
How many people got swallowed by Smith? I mean, in numbers? 1kk, 1kkk?
WerIstTeufel 7 months ago
Well-well...
Why did the others die?
WerIstTeufel 7 months ago
i have two interpretations on the whole Neo/Smith death. Once he fullfilled it, He ceases to exist (Metaphorically speaking, lol)

yea i find this kid's opinion of the film very educated, and he comes out to be bluntly stupid.

AlexDeLarge90 9 months ago
In the first Matrix Morpheus says:"Humanity can never be free as long as the matrix exists".
So, destroying the matrix and liberating the billions of humans connected to it was the whole point of the war.
In the Matrix Revolution the matrix is NOT destroyed, the machines are NOT defeated and the only thing we see is some "peace", and since it's said machines nees humans to survive and the humans need to free people from the matrix I don't see how that peace will last more than a day or two.

Holy shit.
Man you need to take some pills an relax, I think the reason you didn't enjoy it was because you spent too much time analyzing every little detail.

You're a fucking retard you definitely did not watch the movie carefully

@EliteGamin

@SteveSpicerPortsmuth
Just because i have the word game in my account you think my thoughts are related to gamings?
Cut your black n white logic because it makes you look ignorant
i'm using my friend's old account because apparently creating an account doesn't work for me
The movie makes sense if you just put everything together,
Yes the box office was much lower, (not half though) and i would say
#1. viewers didn't understand the film, like this guy
#2. viewers' expectations were too great
EliteGamin 9 months ago 2
@SteveSpicerPortsmuth
plus i do not trust rotten potatoes.
It is true that i like the movie, but the comment
EliteGamin 9 months ago
@SteveSpicerPortsmuth
does that include any words about my preference about the movie
Mathfucktardew, definitely did not watch the movie carefully
he thought the men in Zion had emps the whole time for god sake, and that's why he doesn't understand why the Hammer needs to get back to Zion..
Everything is connected. That's what i like about this trilogy. If you miss something, you won't understand

the smith's all died, at least from the theory that i've heard, because when the smith took over Neo the machine city was directly plugged into him and so the "source" sent a deletion code through neo which destroyed smith and all other codes of smith throughout the matrix

and insert a self-destructing command. The modification to the program was spread to all the other infections, causing the chain reaction that we see.
I think that this is plausible.
MrHyde107 10 months ago
@MrHyde107 This guy, (not you my hyde, but this fucking matthew) had not watched the movie carefully enough, and he is enough stupid enough to make disgusting commentaries about them. He is one of those useless movie reviewers who only looks at the actions and basic storylines, and skips all the long conversations. THEY WERE ACTUALLY IMPORTANT. IF you actually watched the movie more carefully, THEN YOU"D UNDERSTAND
EliteGamin 9 months ago
This also explains why, when the Smith program was destroyed, the people that he had taken over did not die, as their actual consciousnesses were unaffected, only their representations within the Matrix. Now, when Smith took over Neo in that final sequence, Neo was being controlled by the Machines, and so a copy of the Smith program came under the control of the Machines, while still being plugged into the Matrix. With this control, the Machines were able to modify the Smith program (cont.)
MrHyde107 10 months ago
@MrHyde107 He says "WE ARE BECAUSE OF YOU MR.ANDERSON, YOU ARE OUR PURPOSE" therefore we can conclude, Smith made his own purpose, killing neo, so when he actually killed neo, he was our of purpose. So, as the random program in the subway explained, a program, such as smith, is deleted automatically by the basic infrastructures of the matrix. That's why smith died when he killed Neo
EliteGamin 9 months ago
Most ordinary humans can't fight Smith when he takes over their Matrix-form, as these human are controlled by the Matrix, and Smith has maintained some code that identifies him as part of the Matrix, and the Matrix can't fight back against itself. However, when Smith took over Bane, the operational elements of the code moved into Bane's actual consciousness, rather than just his Matrix representation. In this way, when Bane was killed, there was no effect on the rest of the Smith program.(cont.)
MrHyde107 10 months ago
@MrHyde107 I don't actually think that's how smith died. In the beginning of the movie, Neo speaks with a random "Indian looking" (no racism) program. The program explains. If a program does not have a purpose, it is deleted automatically by the basic infrastructure of the matrix. Now, in matrix reloaded, the conversation before Smith and Neo has a big fight, (where loads of smith just came) Smith says "it's the purpose that drives us, it's the purpose that leads us,, blah blah blah then......"
EliteGamin 9 months ago
Here's an explanation for how Smith was destroyed. Now Smith was a program, a virus in fact, given how he quickly copies himself and infects new hosts (somewhat ironic given how Smith compares humanity to a virus in the first movie). So all the Smiths' representations in the Matrix consist of the Smith viral code hijacking the already-present source code of the person. That explains how the Oracle-Smith could fly: the Smith-code took over the functionality of the original program. (contd.)

DARTHPIZZAROLL 11 months ago
the way i see the victory of neo over smith is simple neo never try to beat him he just wanted smith to infect him so the matrix witch is still connected to neo's body can destroy the smiths from the inside
but this rise a other problem because all of the others smith are in fact peoples connected to the matrix which means neo is useless
sorry for my English it's not my firs language

they had to killthe original smith to destroy all the other copy smiths

Even if it would probably cost more money than it did for this one...
We should have seen a MegaSmith fight instead of a one-on-one, because even the Wachowski Bros. think it's better than a martyr thing. SUCK MAH BALLZ U TWO!!!
DCMarvel2009 11 months ago
Well its because since the machine face thingy had direct access to a smith program thru Neo, it was able to delete it and all the other smith "viruses" in the program. like if the body kills a strain, it now is immune to a replica of that same virus

WAY TO RUIN THE ENTIRE FILMS.
lionelricky 1 year ago
i think its very gentle from the machines to create a face so neo maybe feels more comfortable caus hes actually talking to a face! :-) i think this isnt bad. i cant follow ur critisim on that incident. the rest is well spoken. the movie sucked.
LaMusiqueetlabeat 1 year ago
Thank you for the review Matthew. You proved to the world how this whole Matrix thing was shit since the FIRST movie. The Matrix was all about action and shit philosophy for 4 years old kid. Inception, a SINGLE movie, put every thing that the Matrix has done to shame.
JamesBond77 1 year ago
I can defend the second one because it was mildly entertaining. But this pile of crap just didn't have anything worth filming. There was barely even any Matrix in it...until the end. It's like the Wachowski's wanted to make a mech movie instead.
dlancer2k 1 year ago
I say they should of stopped after the 1st movie. Personally the first was good but the last two were just a pile of cluster fuck.
treyart1 1 year ago
The movie is bad but watchable. Smith freaks out cause he has the eyes of the oracle and sees the future. He absorbs neo..neo becomes a smith hence he's connected to the machines so they destroy him to destroy them all. Its bad but its implied. Just like the little girl.

also your very wrong it was Smtih that flys up first followed by Neo suggest u watch the film again
charlieiscool1000 1 year ago
the reason why Smith couldnt fly in the reloaded fight was coz he hadnt lreant by then he was still gaining more powers and as he got stronger and mutiplyed he was some how able too do it even tho this film takes place a few hours after reloaded finishes off during that time he was taking over the matrix and was able too then control it another reason why its raining wen neo goes back in
charlieiscool1000 1 year ago
@charlieiscool1000 @Breinstein99 thanks for explaining..or making shit up ..just like the stupid writers of this film did.
none of that shit was obvious or vaguely explained...this pretends to be smart and makes people think they're smart too... by makin shit up and trying to convince us that its intelligent ...which is like the machines trying to convince us that they have intelligence..blah blah blah...see how contagious that can be ...STOP MAKIN SHIT UP....WTF ...
twogenius 1 year ago
After Smith copied himself onto the Oracle, he could now see the Matrix as Neo does. He is no longer bound by the code, so like Neo, he can now fly. Don't be so offended mr. literal, it's a fucking fantasy movie. Just sit back and enjoy, don't dissect it like a pissed off kid with down syndrome hacking at a frog in 8th grade biology. Bad Corky!
