  • i need help pleasee!! my gun just keeps running even when im not pushing on the pedal

  • @gampon63 maybe you need a new pedal

  • been tattooing for 25 years now. i know those boys from element and get all my supplies there. this is the basic way or a rule of thumb way of doing it. every tattoo artist is different. when i first started i was very insecure and hated all noobs and scratchers. you know what i have learned in 25 years? im still in the game and im good. if youre good dont worry about these up and comers you should embrace them if anything. i found out only shitty artist complain about noobs

  • What kind of asshole puts this information on the internet for every scratcher and wanna be too get a holed of.This industry used to protect it's secrets now I can find some bigmouth jerkoff telling anyone who will listen.FUCK how too videos!!

  • @chrisreynoldsable you a fag

  • @killerturtle187 Fucking loser, let me guess, your one of the house scratchers I was referring too.

  • Check out my tattoo work!! Pachuco Tattoo in sunny CA

  • what a retard. dime/nickle. or use a liner and a shader. doing what this kid talks about is shit.

  • I professionally do tattoos, always remember lower the volts the darker the tattoo "for shading" it all matters on what machine you are using and how you tattoo... After A LOT of practice you will find a set up where you feel most relaxed and confident at, good luck everyone!!!! Tattoos are a form of self expression!!!! AND ART!!!!

  • this is actually a good company...ive ordered many times now and always get wat i want and not some crappy shit.

  • come on bro, keep this shit to yourself.

  • Garbage site, garbage video

  • cool vid

  • damn, this company takes long to ship...

  • @wvuboy8806 well yea im hoping its an ok machine, tha foot pedal is tha one im worried about cuz my other one jus stopped working. tha amp kept turning on and off while i was tattooing on someone and it really messed things up. i

  • has anybody ordered from element tattoo supply? i barely placed an order and im hoping its not as fucked up as tha other sites..

  • @WSCx81 yea, I have ordered from them. when I ordered from them they had a special where if you spent $160 or sumthin like that ...they would send you a free tattoo machine. and the machine they sent me is a complete piece of crap. but other than that...their supplies are pretty nice. and very fast shipping. ...great needles. just don't order their cheap $16 tattoo machines and I wouldn't recommend the led light that attaches to the machine.

  • you are right about that

  • bullshit... its all about personal preference yea... I use a long ass stroke... this guy doesnt know shit... LONG STROKE = BETTER CONTROLL

  • @elemags you are absolutely right, almost all of tattooing is artist preferation, but from this video beginners can get some idea of how to set up their machines if their tattooing for the first time.

  • thanks man u know after the videos ive seen ur the only one that said how much gap between the spring and the contact screw for lining or shading thanks for the help i want to get better at tattooing since is my first time using a pro machine so i need some pointers thanks again!!

  • i'm pretty sure he had that backwards for shading it's a dime width and for lining it's nickel width

  • this helped me out when i first started tatting thnx element tattoo

  • thx for the vid man, helped me cos wasnt sure what voltage to set each machine at.

dont listen to da haters on this cos most of em are just jealous or just pissed off from birth.... im only starting out so keep the good work up

  • wait how come he says to up the voltage for shading? arent you suppose to lower it???confused

  • Seems to be a lot of angry fuckers on youtube these days.Oh well,Fuck em all!

  • Loll dont listen to tattootraing , he dont tattoo, he is no builder or artist but he does like to act like one hahaha so sad , you tube troll that talks about it and never does it

  • @Headshothorror4488 I agree totally... HE has flagged and blocked my comments. All of them.... Hahahahaha Lil pup!

  • @bombshellshock

yeah everything, i figured it out a while ago, it was jst a dodgy kit, every cord in the box and the gun wasnt soldered, so i got my electrician mate to fix it and it works fine

  • You said that it was set for a shader...? Then you set the speed at 8.0 and then the amiture bar contact at the depth you said was for lining. 7 to 8 for lining? And 8 to nine for shading? So seven for lining and 9 for shading? I understand the point of contact.

  • tanks so much man I love the video helpful i am new but i love art..You think you can email me or myspace? myspace.com/hatchet_man200

All the help i can the better man thanks mcl

  • dude my gun is having some problems, my clip cords, when attached to the frame and backpost, will not flow the current through to the gun so it doesn't work......? help anyone?

  • @joshwaandosun did you check for carbon build-up on your contact point?

  • thats not tuning that setting a stroke

  • @TATTOOTRAINING You said that it was set for a shader...? Then you set the speed at 8.0 and then the amiture bar contact at the depth you said was for lining. 7 to 8 for lining? And 8 to nine for shading? So seven for lining and 9 for shading? I understand the point of contact.

  • @meisenheimer11 WTF are you talking about ? i said what was set for a shader ? and what the hell is a speed setting ?

  • @TATTOOTRAINING Sorry I asked. You seam really angry. Voltage = Speed

  • @meisenheimer11 it gets to be annoying when people ask questions based on incorrect understandings. NO voltage does not mean speed , voltage controls the strength of the coils and it changes the strength of the HIT . speed is changed by the gap and the cap size

  • whats the diff between a mag and a flat.not to be stupid but if i plan on using different needles its good to know.

  • i agree with the violentbydesign dude. there are no rules. ive doubled a nickle.....depends on alot of things. spring tension...if u like a really long stroke, etc.

i do try to get a nice wave going in my Armature bar. sometimes thats really hard. im just now learning about machine building. i did my first machine build 2 weeks ago. 6 wrap coils, hand wound, handmade hardware. 16 gauge rear 18 front springs. 22milimeters between the coils...center to center measurment. front binderabve the coil

  • this video helped more than ever

  • thank you for this simple video it helps me a lot....thank you very much i am a beginner artist and its my first time to use a coil machine this vid. helps me a lot thanks again

  • check out my videos if you are a tattoo apprentice or if you are wanting to learn professional tattoo information. google "Basic Fundamentals of Modern Tattoo"

  • @SaneoneKane then why are you looking at it ?

and stop telling people what to do.

  • Hey, i was just wondering, whats a good setting for shading and lining? Just on the power supply.. like maybe 6.50v for shading.. something like that.. like whats the most common setting.. thank you :)

  • Hey, i was just wondering, whats a good setting for shading and lining? Just on the power supply.. like maybe 6.50v for shading.. something like that.. like whats the most common setting.. thank you :)

  • Haha! You RULE, i've seen so many people talking about settings...

LOL basicaly just confusing people, the best explanations i've found has been posted by suppliers... the "pros" just complicate things, the sick thing is everyone of them say different things, but suppliers allways say the same thing! Respect to ELEMENT-TATTOO-SUPPLY!

  • great tips thank you

  • Hey make a video about what needles are best for what i like the way u explain stuff

  • hey steve , thanks ....good advice ....easy to remember

  • one thing what's the difference between a Nickle n a dime if you are not from the USA what's the actual measurement ?!

  • @alililjoka21

Thickness of a US Dime 1.35 mm

Thickness of a US Nickel 1.95 mm

  • pretty useful! n_n

  • Fuckn' Hilarious scumbag questions and video. You're all pnkx.Get the fck out.

  • sickening. you dont know what youre doing and you never will.... youre a disgrace to the trade. die in your sleep.

  • @bazookatooth26

Get a grip of your moronic life. If you are a tattoo artist yourself, learn grammar. I sure as fuck would not be inked on by an illiterate. Good day sir, have fun trying to order you're stock when you probabally donno what half of it says.

  • @Thrashslashedmashedp um... "donno"? * condescending pat on the back*

  • @ronnygriffin The word there was grammar, no? *Condescending slap on the back*

  • @Thrashslashedmashedp Surely coining a word is worse than a little bad grammar and absence of punctuation? I assumed, since you were slaughtering someone for sentence structure, spellings would be just as important to you...

And slaps can't be condescending, they're just mean!

  • maybye someone can help me out. when im tattooing on fake skin im getting alot of ink onto the skin and i cant see the actual outline so i kinda have to wing it where the ouline is. i am not tattooing anyone nor do i intend to until my apprenticeship is over but mabye someone can tell me what do do. maybye the needles is in the tube to far not out enough?? any help would be appreciated. the person showing me said to tattoo myself but i dont want to till i get the ink splatter under control.

  • @bandit022007 dont dip the tip too much, you got too much ink in it... HELLO LMAO!

  • the problem i am having is the color dose not want to stay in the skin do you know why im running 5 rs for shading and 3 rl for outlines but would 5 rl be better or dose that make any difrence and what size should i use to color with thanx

  • @mezconflict if you punch in to deep bodyfluids miht push out the ink... try that on yourself, less depth

  • I love it how so many scratchers are on here trying to teach wrong techniques..

  • @bloodforblood610 are you teaching anything good? don't critizes if you can't be constructive, you'll only loose respect...

  • voltage depends on the coil size ur running.but the dime and nic for the gap is pretty much rule of thumb.i use bigger needles most of the time so i use a 12 to 14 wrap for my shader.and standard 10 for liner.

  • the needle suppose to be lik 1/16 of inch out of tube after u push down the amture bar when puting needle bar in tube .

  • It's all personal preference as for needle/tip depth. There are no rules.

  • one of the best well spoken statements ive heard on the subject

  • @XxViolentByDesignxX bullshit

  • @TATTOOTRAINING Bulltrue my friend, all artists do things differently. Needle give is personal preference, to an extent. No one MEASURES with a ruler how far the needle sticks through the tip. They do it by sight, and feel. That's a fact.

  • @XxViolentByDesignxX and how did i say any different ? i never say use a ruler i say about , as in eye it your making comment with no basis , needle give and how much sticks out past the tip are not the same . i know what THEY DO ,.. i am them

  • @XxViolentByDesignxX "There are no rules"

I dunno, You see some butchers with a 7mm throw out the tip. The desire is art not skin trauma.

  • it´s so fun to look at videos when they really think they know what they are doing!!!

  • I NVRuse my machines higher than my digi display of 7.5 u need tht display for 4 readings"learn tht on ur own"not my place u dont go up to shade u drop done, and also depends on skin types, needles your using, man u wanna know this stuff go to a tattooist n get apprenticed b4 tht draw n paint n trace 12+ hours a day get into the art b4 tasttooing, learnt from The Muse, good luck hoolla back if u need instructing, jace

  • i've heard on many videos that when you are shading, the machine should run lower than when lining, yet why'd you mention that for shading it should be higher???? i am not trying to be contridictive, i'm actually trying to learn.... thanks for the advise.

  • @drlopezins not lower..slower..shading and color machines have more needles so as not to munch the skin up it has to run slower..now because there are more needles the machine needs to hit harder meaning more vaults=higher, not speed, vaults..ya hearin me??

  • Man, that makes perfect sense. I have been lengthening the gap, but turning the volts down and I am definitly having problems shading/coloring with shaders and mags.

  • @Jeeperrandy yo man i m having problems with mag too for some reason the ink has a hard time comin out. i did one tattoo and it came fine with 7 mag but then it wont work another time..i was wondering if u figured out how because i been doing the same thing as u. playin with the voltage...

  • @gadigadigadigadi

I found that turning up the volts a bit and using a sweeping motion rather than small circles like a round shader gets me better results with the mags.

  • @gadigadigadigadi

I dont think its as much the voltage as technique its very easy to start using a magnum like a paintbrush but you must remember to keep the needle to the skin and work the ink in to out for the shade. Also try slowing it down a little i found at first I was to quick out of the shade and therefore having to go back over areas potentially causing more trauma, Commit to the shade and make it count first time.

  • Hey guy just wanted to know if you can post a video on how far should the needle be out of the tube... i did a practice on my right leg and it seems that im going to deep and my ink gets fucked up after it healed can you Message me.... any help would be appreciated thanks guys

  • the niddle needs to be on the tip of the tube normaly if you pass your finger by it you wont feel the needel when you push the bar it wil come out a little.

  • Thank you will try it out and post how well i did thanks again

  • ill try to make a vide of how to put it right ill send it to you when is done

  • r u talking about ink blowouts?

  • @lilshouty14 is ink blowouts where the ink runs or bleeds under the skin...coming from main outlines?

  • thanks dude!

  • hey guys great videos, just wondering if u could make a video for rotary machines?

ive been looking into them and there is little to no information out there on how to set them up for shader or liner. please post

  • The guy who is apprenticing me said this yesterday "If it sounds like a jackhammer, it will feel like one". Ha... This video just reminded me of that. (Not saying it sounded bad)

  • if anyone has any questions feel free to ask!

  • practice skin isnt always the best if your willing to fork over some cash buy a small chicken or grapefruits although grapefruits have a really different end result when you practice on them not really my thing never did like using grapefruits. practice makes perfect everyone this is an artform thats always growing theres no 1 tattoo artist out there that knows everything each artist all have there own way of doing certain things stay positive dont get discouraged practice practice!

  • get used to stretching the skin wiether its with both hands or with your thumb and index finger depending on your dominant hand it with strengthen your hands as well if your a beginner tattoo your hands will be sore on larger sized tattoos and as tony86in said definatly a good idea to attach a pen or pencil to your machine first get used to the weight of the machine and even start at the bottom of your drawing and work up as if it were a real tattoo!

  • To get a bit more speed for your liner, place an elastic band under your front spring. Pull it over the front binding post, & back down under the front spring or under the nipple. This works great on the $20 chinese machines, with their weak springs.

  • basicall just build you confidence from drawing. attach your machine to a pencil and practice tracing lines. it will give you a feel of how to handle your machine. nothing you tatoo is going to compare to actual skin so be brave and sacrifice a leg. that is what i did in my apprenticeship. start out simple and be confident. best to fork over cash and get a formal apprenticship though. this is if you can find one.

  • nice, thanks 4 the tips, you hand down to the next generation of artist.

  • hello i was trying to order a starter kit from your website but when i went to pick out my gun i would charge me separate instead of including it for a kit.how can i order your kits

  • agree with everything except, the voltage varies from machine to machine, my v4 runs on 1.8v for lining, but like i said voltage doesnt really matter as long as the machine is setup correctly

  • great video...and yonands i myself have been doin it for a year and i do agree with you that practice skin is a horrible way to learn...element tattoo keep doing your thang!!!

  • So then what would you suggest ? Grapefruits? Turkey breasts ? Pig ears ?

I have tried grapefruits and practice skin and although the grapefruits seemed good because of texture, the shape is not realistic for the most part.

  • thanks for your comment and yes practice skin is not for everyone..

  • Im 18 and ive been tattooing for about a year now. When i 1st started i didnt tattoo anyone till i did alot of research. Just wanna let bigginers know dont use practice skin it is shit. and this video helps alot element tattoo is awesome and their supplies are great too perfect for ppl who are starting.

  • nice video bro, you haters that think you know better? WTF are you doing looking up HOW TO videos your not exactly in the best postion too start talking like pros your obviously all still using crayons and coloring books.

  • tempuser123456 - Thanks for the support , and i don't listen to the haters, but it seems they like to listen to these videos too....

  • dont listen to the haters. your videos are nice

  • i don't see why not. try asking your parents about what you think about doing first... Just don't tattoo your friends or yourself and you should be fine. Tattooing is just another medium of art .. a way to express your feelings , so if you feel its what your passion is then go for it bro.!!!

  • @elementtattootech why not tattoo yourself? im sure you have

  • Hey man I'm 16 and I want to take up tattooing I have got a A in GCSE art designing comics and drawing memerbillia on 9/11 all shadding. Can I buy a tattoo gun and practice on pork (pig skin) at my age ?

  • Unfortunately their are some people out there that were not blessed in being a professional tattoo artist at birth , So for the rest of you that are trying to learn this craft, this is a SIMPLE set up. So if you have never seen a tattoo machine or even heard of one. Here at element tattoo supply hopes this helped you out.

  • rubbish do not listen to this

  • how far does the needle stick out with the armature bar down. i think im set too long and any help would be great. i dont know if its a 1/16" plus the stroke or 1/16" after the stroke?

  • a 1/16" plus the stroke

  • Thanks for this very useful video, i tried it on my machines & works gr8.

  • horrble, this is scam to get you to buy there tattoo kit tha is not how you tune machine

  • if this is rong, can you point me in the rite direction pleasee?

  • lol oh man go learn right or go home and dont fuck up your friends god some of you guys just need to be baby sat cant trust white trash no were

  • what is a good machine for starting out with?

  • lame , i picked up one of those power unites couldn't return it fast enough, my shit runs on 3vs and that piece wouldn't go high enough to run my color machine. same junk Hildbrant sells , relabeled jap unite . also i never set my shit by the dime nickle , more old school info. ill be teaching how to set a machine to a 50% duty cycle with no digital equipment .

  • Can you do an youtube video on tip cleaning?

  • that was pretty good - if your in the UK and dont have a dime or nickel, use a pennt and a 2P coin for reference - in the video the guy handles the foot switch with his gloves and then goes back to the machine - dont do this when your going to tattoo as you will cross contaminate dirt from the footswitch to your client :-D

  • but a 2 p and a 1p coin are only like 1mm difference in thickness?

  • for liner how maby volts

    and shading how many volts

  • This completly depends on what kind of machine you are using. Every machine is different. Size of armature bar, angle of the contactscrew, thickness of the front- and backspring. You can`t base you machine setup by this. Just wantet to say it.

  • he also said up the volts to 8-9 for shading but then his machine was set up for shading...

  • wait.. in the beginning you said that it sould be like a dime of you want to line.. then in the end you said it should be like a dime if you want to shade

  • Thanks Very helpful.

  • nice one,very helpful.
