Can anyone please tell me how I can contact him? I need to ask him which CD he was listening to for thousands of time to acquire this accent...Please let me know if you have any information
wowww you are right ^^ I never think about grammar when I am speaking my mother language ^^ you just gave me a wonderful enlightenment, sir ^^ thanks for making this vid
Disagree! you don't think about grammar when you write or talk but you do need to learn it in the first place. Once you have learned it, its sort of built in your head over time.
I'm sure a canadian person knows how to construct a sentence even though he may not know the terminologies to explain what the grammar in the sentence involves. Surely he follows a set of grammatical rules despite not being able to explain it.
@ KanjiKeith: I agree with you. Reading is another effective way to learn how to write better.
But the fact of the matter is many writers or even professors who have published tons of books still make grammatical errors. Copying those errors is the same as reinforcing incorrect grammatical structures. A better way, in my humble opinion, is to read books and learn proper grammar at the same time.
You need to learn grammar especially for writing. They have grammar books such as "The Elements of Style" and "Rhetorical Questions" that teach not only American college students but also writers how to write correctly and effectively.
If one were to do a lot of reading in the style that one would like to write in, one would naturally get used to that style without making an effort to learn grammar.
@KanjiKeith Before I write any academic essays, I always read pieces by Gore Vidal, Christopher Hitchens, Mark Twain ect. It primes my brain, so when I start to write, the appropriate grammar naturally flows out.
"that teach not only American college students" well there you go, they teach american students about english grammar in the english language. Its alright to learn how to improve your grammar using the actual language of it. but learning grammar billingually is ridiculous.
I don't believe it. It's not just accent, fluency, vocab without a hesitation? come on, give me a break? Only people who have never learned a second language would believe that.
This may sound kinda rude but really only europeans make a big stink about grammar. Sorry but you do.

You still need grammar as a way of mentally categorizing things.
