  • why dont you just buy a messed up tv.....

  • wow I wish I knew how to do that

  • Technically, a NES is DC. The only AC part is the rectifier(inside the console). But a Famicom has no on-board rectifier(it's in the power brick) so if you are a beginner get a Famicom.

  • why, I mean "WHY". are you that bored. Besides that game is shit, try Black opps much better.

  • @snipersquad100 which begs the question... How bored would someone have to be to play "black ops"?

  • nice an original NES system! I have an old second generation NES myself.

  • There's fucking magic all up in this bitch.

  • COOL Video But why does it look like it was filmed in the 80's?

  • whats bending??

  • I like the psychedelic distortion when you used the pot.

  • my nes does this without being circuit bent...

  • Who does this and why ? Honestly......

  • explorers of sound / acid heads / etc, and becuase the results are fucking awesome :P

  • People try too hard to "make a point". Those who say this is pointless, try bending something and just relax. Not everything has to be logical.

  • can you do this with a super nintendo without it being dangerous

  • Generally the answer is no as it is a mains powered device.

  • that was some pretty boring bends

  • do any ofthe bends effect the sound?

  • If you're just using points on the video chip, probably not. However, I have found several bends that do effect sound in some weird ways.

  • mrgreanjeans is correct! circut bending has alot of uses expecially in music. not pointless at all unless you dont think outa the box. how elese are u gona get a patchbay synth without spending 20k? and the guy that says "noise bands" wont be reambered in history is retarded. what the fuk u think pinkfloyd is or throbbing grissel? fuk a therman is basically a tone generator with 2 ocalators and 60's rock used them like crazy. u r making statements about something u dont understand!

  • ITs pointless, but to much fun to stop.

  • Circuit benders are just like a kid jamming a finger in his own eye and saying "look at the pretty colors!"

    Nice subculture you have here.

  • sub culture?circuit bending has been used in many mainstream music.you obviously have no real musical interest if you think circuit bending is pointless.for 5.00 i can take a keyboard that was destined for the landfill and turn it into a 800.00 or more synth, that i couldnt have afforded to go out and buy.i also can modify a toy and get a sound that i couldnt have produced on any other instrument.experimentation breeds new forms of music, but i guess that is all just pretty colors to you.

  • im glad you dont understand.that says it all in a nutshell...

  • The point is to have fun. I plan on trying my hand at circuit bending. As long as I have fun, (I am sure I will) what is what's important.

  • the NES runs on 9VDC, not AC. the transformer/power supply is external, not integral.

  • Thank you for posting!

  • You know what? These freak images of a bent Nintendo 8 bit were seen before... remember when the console was turned on for more than 2 hours? Nintendos are all natural born BENT. They were always generating freak images, characters shaped as numbers, weird backgrounds, and sometimes, non-sense bugged stages. LOL

  • David, lmfao, your a fucking idiot

  • he's right though, lol :P

  • ive been doing this for about 20 years and u have to metodicly write dwn each effect and pwr lvls that r going thru, ec. differnt pwr lvls same contact diffrnt effect.

  • I don't think anyone who does this kinda stuff gives a fuck about what you say. I'm having fun doing this stuff, and any stupid comment you make can't change that.

  • I love doing "stupid" things too!

like creating and producing wack ass things that "normal people" cant grasp.

    Rock on Kick52!

  • Video "bending" and the sound your fucking radio makes when its tuning are to different things

one is AUDIO and the other is VIDEO

  • your wasting your life!

  • and you're making lame comments about it!

  • and your replying to my lame comment

  • and im reading them

  • this may sound silly, but i'm just getting into bending. i'm wondering what safety precaustions you take when you bend AC powered deviced rather than battery powered.

  • Don't

  • The NES has a little power adaptor which changes the AC current into a low voltage DC current. This is quite safe, though still take precautions, and don't try bending any power boards, or touch anything with your hands.

  • kick52

it was my understanding that anything harnessing an electrical current from a source like a house's electrical wiring was dangerous to bend.

  • It is, though the NES has an external power adaptor which converts the AC high voltage (230v-ish) into a low voltage DC current which the Nintendo can use (12v-ish). This makes it relatively safe for you to bend.

  • hey amazing intro....how did you do it? is the camera modified?

just getting into this and any help is REALLY APPREICATED!!!!!!!

    t

  • Naw, I was just taking apart the camera while it was shooting and edited the interesting footage. It is fun to mess with the Audio/Video jacks though...

  • dope....thought it was something like that....keep up the amazing work....im about to get crackin myself

  • @chadraines hey i have an idea about what you could circuit bend. do you know neopets? the electronic ones? they came in about 2002. yes you should circuit bend that.

  • hey. awesome informative vid, i just want to know, how dangerous is touching the inside of a live console? i mean i was bending my mega drive and got away with it, but was really worried the whole time. you seem to be getting along just fine, is there anything i should know before i start on the nes? cheers in advance x

  • Seems like alotta work just to mess something up. Im sorry but I dont really see the point. Im sure you can learn alot by doing this but still...

  • YO! you rule for putting this up here, so every body can get into chip culture! And, I wanted to tell you, I dig your lo-tec video production!

  • Heres a fun Idea. Take two games and connect the "PINS" of each game to the input "PINS" on the Console. Maybe you can get Double Dragon music "PINS" and the Adventure Island game "PINS" or some other cool glitch.

  • adventure islad

  • At least it's not a colossal waste of space like you. and it's not called wasting time, it's called a hobby.

  • well at least its less stupid then barbed wire collecting, brick collecting or train spotting

  • the NES is a masterpeice of human ingenuity...people will regard it as we do the parthenon or a davinci...it is a wonder of our modern world :)

  • wtf

  • I bet that was what the doctor said right after your birth. hahaha.. your a chump mate.. free pot shots on your account!

  • Well some of us have a lot of time to "waste"

  • Glitch and Experimental electronic thinkers, check out my vids and help further evolve this music movement. All help appreciated.

  • lol so at the start of the vid you said have ur buddy kick you if you stick? usually people don't say this ahhahaha are you speaking from experience, funny but dangerous lol

  • nice video. it should be mentioned for new poeple that wiring a trim pot of the same value with a potentiomter can be used to introduce a small amount of constant resistance so the pot wont crash no matter how far you turn it. mess with the trimmer until its just right then wire it in series with the pot.

  • why ^^

  • I agree with everyone except seven eleven down there. Pretty interesting. I've done this a couple of times by accident

  • There's not much of a point, it's just fun and some people find it to be entertaining. people do all kinds of "pointless" stuff for entertainment.

  • its fun, fuck off.

  • u say its pointless but by saying that you are also saying that, games, music, art, sports cars etc. are also pointless

  • it's just as arbitrary as a guitar or drum set. what's the point of that?

  • Why... O why do all the fucking stupid ass comments come from the USA ?? I am surfing around & all I see in the comments section "for the most part" are stupid comments made by dumb shit americans WTF !! If you dont like something or dissagree with someones video why in the hell would you type in your bullshit 2 cents about something you obviously have no idea about. Just to get your ass dissed from all the fucking tech head people on line! Great Video if you dont think so go read a book.

  • same for you

  • Very interesting! I'd like to see some more refined stuff at some point. Do it on A Boy and His Blob!

  • cool, good tutorial
