We italians are so embarassed by Donatella Versace...in fact, she is much more of a VIP in the U.S.A. than in Italy, where she barely touches the interest of Italian fashion world. She is the perfect example of how destructive and pushy can become a world of concepts (like fashion is) that's supposed to instead make you feel better and at ease when you lead it without conscience.

IMHO, Gianni had a whole different idea of style, no matter how much she thinks she relates to her brother.

@MultiWootie well here in america we are proud of Donatella Versace. regardless of what people think on how her brother took the role in the label, unfortunately he is now gone, but she had the courage to move on, stay strong and continue with her brother's empire , most important keep, the versace legacy. On like other brands who have loss that concept and spirit such as Balenciaga , Lanvin, and Louis Vuitton. They are now run by non family members.

@drivonike2 If you want an example of good family lead check Miuccia Prada: you'll find a coherence (since Mario Prada), that Versace never had (motivating it with "times change").That said, I think that for the sake of the fashion house is way better to give the lead to someone that seriously understand the core of such design, regardless of blood links: Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton, Frida Giannini for Gucci, Christopher Bailey for Burberry couldn't be doing a better job.

I think its alot better to let the family run the business to keep the legacy up , and i think thats what donatella is doing. Her collections have had excellent reviews. the s/s 2010 was excellent. I just think some people have the wrong perspective of her.

If I was her and my brother was kill, I would def. go into terrible depression, but to have the courage to move on, stay strong, thats what I call a strong woman!
