also I did read that the Spanish company who invested in building the M3 and collect the tolls to pay for it want out as they are losing money. They want to sell it but NRA, the National Roads Association does not want it nor does any other toll road company.
I'm not on the spot with this but it appears the M3 is not used much. Folks prefer to use the old N3 and not pay the tolls. Due to job losses in Dublin there's not so many people commuting now. Now the campaigners have headed off to new Newgrange where a Slane By Pass construction is being threatened to be built near Newgrange. If built it would also be an unused white elephant.

The handling of the archeology was rough but an ongoing concern is the potential of building an industrial or retail park at Blundelstown interchange near Tara Hill. It will not happen for awhile as this economic downturn is causing many interchange sites around Ireland to be unoccupied and in serious financial trouble, so there's no longer any incentive to build more.
