yes you can FREEZE the whole thing and keep it frozen with simple tubes of ammonia set into the hole exactly same as they do in the north to freeze dam the lakes to mine diamonds.
it costs but it would solve it on the first shot!
it can freeze the water some 200 feet down and all round it too! it is possible to freeze all the inlets but it is all WASTE and the corps and treasure is ruined as well as the chests.

Dude it thaws quickly. Even non-salt water which you freeze that way melts within half an hour if you dont keep it isolated.
