The first time I went with a Thai guide but he charged too much for the boat trip up the mountain hill village, overnight stays and boat back, so I made my own way with the daily boat. Had a lot more money to spend in the den then. If you grow your own make sure you read up the process of turning the latex from the pod into smokable (or edible) opium. Don't just swallow it without heating it up some way. I found mixing some with my morning coffee did the trick ;)

You'll probably receive a big fine if caught with some for personal consumption but if more than that you'll be looking at jail time. The hill tribe people give you tips on getting it back down to your guest house. Build up a trusting rapport with the people first, though ;)

@CorpralJ actually, it slows down the process of natural production of endorphins. If used very often, it can completely stop the endorphin making process. That means your screwed if you ever get off it and get hurt. Endorphins are the body's naturally made opiate, which is vital for reliving pain.

Actually paranoia and anxiety always kick in with weed somwhere along the ling, regardless of your setting. And it plays on your mind preety bad if you smoke it continiously. Sometimes you dont realsie tis doing this until you stop smoking for a while. Coming from a Weed Smoker of 10 years.

@darrin42 actually they don't. anxiety and paranoia kick in when you are stessed out, then the weed makes it kinda worse. and some people are genetically prone to that. it has been proven by australian scientists. as long as your not stressed out and your going good, you shouldn't have panic attacks.

@darrin42 yeah, panic is induced by lots of stress or bad thoughts. so your best smoking at calm times or times where you know you are safe or free of doing anything you don't want to. it's not caused by weed, it just amplifies the feeling if you are feeling like that. so i'm sure everyone has felt like that high, it's natural.

@modernwarfarenoob for me,opium is more of an ancient acceptable drug. it's when you start isolating and creating new drugs, that just feels like poison. I once hadn't done any heroin or pills for a while and I got a gram of sweet grand daddy H, did it and for the next few days I felt like I had been poisoned. It was only about 5 days later until the feeling left me, and my skin dries out too.
But opium is different, it is more natural and seems to be less harmful even though it is addicting

Well, most plant-based drugs, such as cannabis, opium, and cocaine, do not kill brain cells. Synthetic drugs do. Often, cocaine will because it is cut with things like rat poison. But the pure, plant-based drugs do not kill brain cells at all. Cocaine and opiates are addictive, however, while marijuana is most certainly not.

@CorpralJ actually, it slows down the process of natural production of endorphins. If used very often, it can completely stop the endorphin making process. That means your screwed if you ever get off it and get hurt. Endorphins are the body's naturally made opiate, which is vital for reliving pain.
