Hey thanks for the video - I have the same gas leak on my same model weedeater. How would you recommend replacing the gas line on this thing? Since minewas leaking, I pulled out the gas line but have no idea how to get a new on in there.
i was using my craftsman weed wacker today and the head stopped turning and it wouldent cut.if i give it gas the head would move but barely.if i try to cut the head would just stop. Can you help with any advice?please!
@lanegjones assuming the head bearing and driveshaft are not siezing up, I would say its the centrifugal clutch, either its sticking or worn out. best to take it all apart and inspect everything for wear/galling.
@JonO387 im going to take mine apart this weekend havent had a chance yet.But when i do i'll let you know what i found. If you get yours looked at let me know.
@lanegjones I actually did some research, and took mine apart this afternoon. It was the drive shaft. It had snapped completely in two. I ordered a new one and looks like it should be pretty simple to install. The old one came out easily enough. I hope this helps and good luck with yours.
yeah, mine likes to leak at the fuel hose going into the tank. If you plan to re-ring it, find a different carb for it. The original one is a bit small and only has one adjustment, low speed, IIRC. Throw some 24:1 mix in there, lean out the high speed a little, and it'll come alive...but yeah, the compression looks kind of weak. I drilled the holes in the perforated tube bigger inside the muffler and widenned the 4 little exhaust exit slots and that helped as well.
How are you finding the single feed head? It would be interesting to know if they counter-balance the head to compensate. It is amazing to feel how unbalanced a head can feel when one cord breaks. At full throttle it feels like theres a pound of lead stuck to one side.
With regards to Kawasaki stuff, they have dropped off in quality/performance in the last couple of years. I can't think why they did it because the previous models of 3 or 4 years ago were brilliant, but the newer style ones you see are nowhere near as good.
Dammit in frustration I say to those 2 stroke pigs. Finicky hard to start machines. It is literally an art constantly pulling the cord, fidgeting with the choke lever, caressing the primer bulb and saying happy things.. ALL AT THE SAME TIME.
what's that 78 sticker? it looks like an octane sticker like on a gas pump.. wow 78 octane fuel? lowest we have is 87. hah made in America, you don't see too much of that anymore.. The weed eater brand is cheap but pretty reliable, I think they still make them here idk. Good vid! ^^
all appliances like this, including air conditioners have to be within a certain noise range. its a load of crap IMO. loosing power and efficiency tp prevent noise pollution.
i have the same weed wacker but the gas line on mine has a hole in it...

Replace the gas cap. They are notorious for leaking

@lazaglider the head was okay, but a little out of balance, I'm guesing there is a weight molded into the plastic housing.

Hey Ed , whats up man? What do you think of Kawisaki weed wackers ?
fritzhvac 1 year ago
@fritzhvac I've had a few old Kawasaki's and they are well made!, I'd say its a better choice than any chinese one.
I'm not sure what the new ones are like though, assuming they still make them

that idle is way to high proper idle is just above the point whare the warm motor stalls.
mine you can allmost count the turns on the fly wheel
itscool1968 1 year ago
@itscool1968 yeah it is high, but I'm guessing that was because of low compression. it probably won't idle like it should.
Aussie50 1 year ago
@Aussie50 if you can get it to the string spool should not turn unless the cintfical clutch is stuck on.
itscool1968 1 year ago
@itscool1968 yeah the clutch is stuck/welded . I didn;t get that far into the shaft end to fix it.
