I always think of what happened to the people in the photographs...e.g. the kids in the school with their whole lives in front of them. I visited Lebanon last week for the first time and was completely enchanted by the country. It's incredible seeing these pictures of what was Beirut before 1975. The city seems to be regaining it's past glories again. Let's just hope the fragile peace in the country lasts and it never again descends to the 15 years of madness that consumed such a wonderful country.

What a wonderful video...such a beautiful country...what a sense of loss. Very sad. I always think of what happened to the people in the photographs...e.g. the kids in the school with their whole lives in front of them. Humanity is always the first victim of war, tolerance the second. Still, the Lebanese (just like al-Andalus) proved that different peoples did (and hopefully can) live side-by-side...thank you for recording that fact.

it is a beautiful country, and it is in its current state a young country 1920, I know it is much older in history but in its final form it is pretty young. Country do not emerge peacefully they are like stars, start with fire! The palestinians were not the reason for our problems. My sympathy for Palestinians has reduced now I know how they dragged Lebanon into the gutter and organised the butchery of the Christians who had given them refuge in their country.

It's not that simple. Aoun made Ta2if come because he parylzed the Christian community. The LF had no other choice but to sign Ta2if. He took Christian resistance and thousands of martyrs and spit on them and divided the community over greed.

I visited Lebanon last week for the first time and was completely enchanted by the country. It's incredible seeing these pictures of what was Beirut before 1975. The city seems to be regaining it's past glories again. Let's just hope the fragile peace in the country lasts and it never again descends to the 15 years of madness that consumed such a wonderful country.

@IA1957 Im forced to become israel supporter because everybody seems become illogical. When Hezbollah entered Israel, they killed and kidnapped Israeli soldiers, do you still convinced that they (Hezbollah) did not start the 2006 war?

@IA1957 Hezbollah gave war and distruction and not power,lebanon's power is its people who have brains and not weapons.you are fighting for others and not for lebanese, u dont care about the country neither u believe in a strong government, you need war and chaos to survive, otherwise u will have no reason to exist. I think Hezbollah and israel complete each other and they need each other to survive

I totally agree wth you. Stupidity is the only word that describes a war that has destroyed the lives of thousands who had happiness, wealth and peace right next to them. Christians were too proud and Moslems too fanatic. And Palestinians, Israelis and Syrians took advantage of that fact.

very nice paragraph written for the video summary. You stated your opinion very rational and was well said. I couldnt agree with you anymore. Im a lebanese muslim and i believe lebanon should be as ONE, not in segregation and animosity between religions. We're the same culture idk why they have a hard time seeing that. Imagine how strong lebanon would be if all the muslims and christians united like jewish ppl.
