  • exelente set ! me encantan todos los sonidos ...

  • @trecool3134: Gracias!

  • Wow! What a awesome sound! This is really impressive! I love your drums! ;-)

  • what are the drum shells made of?? it looks like it could be maple with thick drum shells.

  • @ajcf1995: No, they are thin 3-ply shells (mahogany/poplar/maple). It's the reinforcement rings that give the impression that they are thick.

  • @RussianDrummer92: Thanks, although I don't believe I tune perfectly. I just try to do the best I can.

  • @PhantomDrummerCG: You're probably right, especially about the 13''. I have tried various tunings, but there's always something to be desired. Who was who said, "if you use more than two toms, no matter what you do, there will always be one that doesn't sound so good..."

As for the FT, it sounds much more open now that I have replaced the Pinstripe with a clear Emperor.

  • Ok, where are the mics?!?!

  • @amtrakboy37: There's only an SM57, behind the kit, on the right.

  • have to say probably one of the best sounding kits ive ever heard..i wish i could tune as good as you haha..but they sound beautiful congrats on that kit!

  • @oreilly335: Thanks! There many great sounding kits on youtube. As for tuning, I try to do my best. I am still learning after all these years of playing. Thanks again!

  • Hi! if you are in the 12 and 13 of Ambassador or Emperor batter??

  • @gaga1985dw: Emperor batters, Ambassador resos.

  • i came.

  • Is this the same kit that Ronnie Tutt used with Elvis in the early 70s?

  • is this a birch or maple set?

  • @Hammerofthegods86: It's a 3-ply, mahogany/poplar/maple, with solid maple re-rings.

A typical Ludwig ply configuration, up until the mid 70's.

  • tuned good

  • what kind of hihat is that

  • woww sounds great

  • tom 1 and 2 sound the same!

  • @allegro2france: It's not easy to get a nice spread between a 12'' and a 13'', but I think that the difference in pitch in the video is clear.

  • @harisk1 I thought you did a really good jobb with the tuning. Like you said, the spread between 12 and 13 is hard to get. But you could still clearly hear a difference. I'm quite the coated guy myself. But yours sounded great for a clear head!

  • @harisk1 Nice sounding kit. I'm also a Ludwig player (8x12,16x16,16x22,6.5x14 supra-phonic). Would love to find a 4 piece kit from the 70's.

  • @allegro2france yeah theres a difference in sound, just subtle.

  • this drum is very very very very beutiful !!!!!!!!

  • Woah, The first tom drum is bright and punchy o.O

  • the two rack toms are tune to the same pitch?

  • your floor sounds like god

  • Sick drum set!

  • they just dont make em like they used to... now drums rso WAY too much!

  • I would kill for those hats.

  • @Pandanobear I've got one pair of them. You can buy them if you want.

  • @Kingondahill eh. I don't really have the money for them... Do you accept blow jobs? jkjkjkjkjkjk

  • DW who????

  • nice tuning.

  • nice sound man!

  • They sound awesome.

    Ludwig or SONOR for me...

  • i also have the omar hakim snare, but how can I get this beautiful sound?????what head do you use (batter and resonant)????and is this sound get by a mic or by the camera????answer please

  • @regista1994: Hi, sorry for the delayed response. The batter head is a Remo Fiberskyn FD tuned to a rather medium range, and the resonant a standard Ambassador hazy, tightened pretty high. Audio was captured through a Shure SM57, with some reverb and EQ added afterwards. Hope this helps.

  • I think you need to turn your 2nd tom just a quarter notch down..

  • really amazing drum sound

  • the snare sounds amazing

  • hey, i was wondering how you go about tuning your drums, especialy the snare, also how you tune you resonant heads, thanks! also does the snare use any internal dampeing? and i had emperors on my toms, and had to dampen due to some high overtones, is this just bad tuning? haha thanks.

  • id rather have a ludwig set than a tama :[

  • Oh GOD that SNARE........ *drools hideously*

  • all the drums sound the same

  • fuuuuuuck play all drums together please lol.

  • sweet!

  • what models are ya cymbals bud? :)

  • @gabbalabbawoop: 20'' Sabian J. Dejohnette sig. ride, 18'' Paiste blue label 602 thin crash, 80's 16'' Paiste 2002 crash, 14'' Ufip Class medium hats. Thanks.

  • Oh, sweet Jesus! Those are some lovely sounding drums!

  • love those sounds, nice and clean

  • muito bom show de bola mano

  • Holy shit, your drums sound fantastic

  • not ludwig its remo

  • @ViceCity126 The drums are Ludwig...the drum heads are Remo, FYI.

  • you can just tell the whole time hes liek "what to do what to do!"

  • they sound great, but the two rack toms sound to close in pitch to me.

  • Ive got that same snare, easily the best I've ever played. You recommend the Fiberskyn head for it in terms of durability and stuff?

  • love that snaresound!

  • Hey bro, I was wondering those are emperors on batter right? But what do you use for the resonant side?

  • Clear Ambassadors

  • Shame on you for dampening these masterpieces...

lol jk! killer set, would give the proverbial for one.

  • Dampening, what dampening?

I wouldn't even dream of sticking half a piece of moongel on them!

But kidding aside, you're probably right. Maybe they could use some more resonance. Next time I'll change heads, it'll be single-ply's.

  • I was talking about the Pinstripe (which, no matter what anyone tells you DOES dampen the sound of the drum, A LOT more than an Emperor) and the pillow-looking-thing in the bass drum. But that's just me...

I was wondering, how does the Fiberskyn hold up on the snare?

  • The Fiberskyn has held better than any coated head I've played so far. This one is5 (!) years on that snare, and only recently I've started to consider replacing it.

I do know how much the pinstripes can dampen a drum. I guess they have their place, but their sound is indeed one-dimensional.

As for the BD, that's a folded piece of cloth, touching the bottom of the batter head. Unlike the toms and snare which I like wide open, I prefer a somewhat controlled bass drum sound.

  • Hey,dude, that Luddy is killin'!!!!I have also sky blue pearl early 70ies set...please,can you tell me which head combos did you use on this clip on toms, bass drum and snare(top and bottom)?I can only recognise pin stripe on floor tom..

  • Hi and thanks! I'd love to see and listen to your kit. Sky Blue Pearl is one of my favorite Ludwig finishes.

The heads are Emperor batters / Ambassador resos on the mounted toms, Emperor batter/Aquarian Regulator reso on the BD, and Fiberskyn FD batter / Hazy Ambassador on the snare.

The FT batter is indeed a Pinstripe (they were out of 16'' clear Emperors at the drum store when I replaced the heads) with an Ambassador resonant.
