@littleduke1000 - It's a non-scented Body soap and water. 10-20% Soap 80-90% Water. You can use hair conditioner as well. Some people don't spray it in either, they mix it up, dump the whole thing into the suit, holding onto the openings and swish it around. I think spraying it - is less mess.
@MrGunrilla - don't know if this is a question or more just a statement. A wetsuit will keep you warmer and you can stay in the water longer. If you spear in the Ocean or salt water, it protects you from jellyfish. Suits also protect you from the sun, structures in the water, fins of the fish, ect.... You don't have to wear a wetsuit if you don't want. In the Summer when the water is 80 degrees - I wear shorts and a lycra top.
@chibi2666 - Thanks. I got my float down at a dive shop in FT Lauderdale. Its called THE SHARDANA by OMER. It's a rigid plastic, very durable but also- fairly heavy. Not a good float with BIG waves. Holds lots of gear! and I could use it to rest on. Very nice!
(I refuse to call you an idiot because I don't know your mother): i love that part hhahahahahahahahaha i can see his hill belly face! hahaha hey mom here's an idiot putting his mask in the hood. :)))))))
@benhallidaycod - Check out Martin Stepanek's World Record Video- He is the best in the world- doesn't get more professional than that. He (martin and his safety divers) all put their masks under their hoods.
@whopperhead mate check out any of the riffe team shooting some of the best pros out all out side their hood im not saying your wrong just dont claim that its inside your hood only, regardless of the pressure alot of people wear their mask out side of their hood, just dont think you should be giving tips
@benage1991 - Actually......... You do. Maybe you don't if you scuba dive or something like that. But you are suppose to put it under your hood, so it seals against your face. And here's the reason why: (I refuse to call you an idiot because I don't know your mother):
As you go deeper, the pressure will compress your suit, if Your mask is on the outside of your hood - It will leak. It goes on your face - ask a professional.
Hey there, i know this will sound stupid but is the suite needed? Or is it mean for colder waters? I live in a tropical area so the water is pretty warm, but i dont know if the suit helps in other things? Thanks :)
@oAtBoBOio1 - I use either HAIR CONDITIONER (15% conditioner 85% Water) or I use a unscented Body wash - same mixture. I use the unscented when spearfishing, conditioner when line diving.
@xboxaddictionMdd - It was a little odd to get used to, Had too much weight on and had a hard time staying on the surface. Shot a couple Carp - first time Out, it was a rush!
@xboxaddictionMdd - If you bought used ($150) - for all. And can go up from there. a decent freediving fin costs $70-100. Wetsuit $75 - $400. Snorkle - just buy the cheapest "J" Snorkel (nothing Fancy), Mask $30 - $60. Weight Belt: $10-40, Weight: Depends. Speargun: $50- $1200. Dive Float: $20-$200, Stringer, You Don't need a knife. I have a couple and almost never have to use them.
@whopperhead thanks for the reply, I asked around and found out the 130 is too big for where I live so I decided to go with a 120 with the cayman handle. thanks again.
hey, looking to get into spearfishing after having done it with a friend (with his speargun). Ive found a 130cm OMER cayman gun and am planning on buying it. @electromerca - You will learn how to load it. It may be awkward at first. 130cm is huge! Are you spearing in the Ocean or someplace with great Vis?? I personally would never use a 130- it would be way too long for the conditions in my area. Wisconsin Fresh Water 10-15ft viz Average.
@whopperhead yeah, visibility is quite good where I live. although I asked around and I was advised that 130 is too big so Im going with a wettie 120cm with a cayman handle. thanks for the quick response
Thanks. It is difficult to find some info for starters like me. Next week I´ll buy my mask and snorkle to start training in a swimming pool. Any advice??
@quieromicubita - Shouldn't train alone- but if you have to- don't push yourself. Relaxing will give you better breath holds. The absolute best Advice I can give is: Take a Freediving Class. "FII" in FT Lauderdale, FL is a Great one. It will Dramatically increase your abilities. Almost everyone I know that takes a class develops a Breath hold time of at least 4 mins. Worth every Penny and will save your life.
@whopperhead By now, I´ll have to train alone and follow your advice. About FT Lauderdale, I´ll go to Cuba first on February since I´m currently living in Bogotá and after that, I´ll try to find out about FII Class which I´d love to do first, but I´m set to Cuba next month already where I plan my first steps for spearfishing. You could join me there in Havana if you´d like to and help me start.
@quieromicubita - I'd love to go down there and show you how to get started and pointers. But I can't financially do that right now, as I am trying to buy a house. But take pics and post them on deeperblue. com - One of the best and most informative sites out there.
How much does it cost to get set up with the bare minimum stuff. A half way decent speargun, wet suit and mask and goggles. You know, stuff like that.
@jtschid0910 - If you bought used ($150) - for all. @whopperhead When you say 3mm, does that mean that the bottoms are 3mm thick and the top is thick as well? So pretty much you have 6mm in the parts where the two overlap?
@IEsorry - That is Correct- the overlapping area (core) is 6 mil. 3 mil suits are ideal for Late Spring, Summer and Early Fall (depend on where you live of course)
@IEsorry - Depends on Water Temp. If it's 70 degrees or warmer- a 3mil is fine. If the water gets below 70- I would use a 5mil, Even when the water gets warm- you can just flush your suit to stay warm. 5 mil is good in waters down to 32 degrees (Open cell interior). I'm planing on taking a trip to CA in Sept 2011 and I'm bringing my 5mil. It seems to be more versatile.
@IEsorry - From what I hear from contacts in CA. The Pacific Ocean is freakin Cold! I would say 5mil is a good suit all around! If you get too hot, you could flush out your suit with the ocean water.
@boozouz - Yes. If the gun is longer the Bands stretch further and more power. The need for a long gun or a short one depends on your shooting range. In Wisconsin, our visibility is about 10-12ft average. So, a 75cm is ideal. In the ocean where vis is 30-120 ft, you will be shooting further. or If you are going after BIG fish and need the power to get the spear through, you need a LONG GUN.
@boozouz - I see the length of the speargun based on 2 things. 1- visibility of the water. If you can only see about 5 feet, you will want a shorter speargun. 2- what are you shooting? If you are shooting big fish, you will want a more powerful gun to get the the spear through the fish. For Wisconsin (vis average: 8-15 feet) I use a 75cm Hammerhead Evolution.
nice equipments . the omer float is very bulky , try that yellow float line it says diver below , it's on sale now , only $24 , much better than that float , for the gun , hummerhead is perfect , i see that u have the evolution , im buying one 90cm this week , i have the omer cayman HF , so it's time to try something else .
and at the end , GO TO FLORIDA , lake michigan is dirty believe me , go to chicago south and you will see BP dumping trash there ....
@jerryboy219 I chose that as my username, because it was my username for everything. When I 1st had to choose a username- I was a huge fan of Burger King and Loved Whoppers. So, I chose WHOPPERHEAD. I almost never eat fast food now. But Whoppers Still RULE the world! :-)
@theremoteholder I would agree with the Omer Float. It was a pain in the butt- especially if there was wind. RA guns are really nice- I agree, But I do like my Hammerhead, It's a very accurate gun.
The belt end should not be put that way!! It is important be able to get it of quickly if you are in a dangerous situation under water. Just cut the end of!
@isuzulisa - I agree, it's not the proper way to wear the belt. But I still do it, it's not overly hard to get out of- but you are correct-- it's dangerous.
i have a greek suit from the incorporetion big fish 5,5 mm in the begining i didnt khow if they would last but i have it khow for 4 year and i am happy and the best is cheap
@crazykawafool Actually- it's Pretty Comfortable and not at all painful. Except for maybe the 32 degree water we dive in -in the winter time. The suits are very flexible and are suppose to be snug.
@crazykawafool - no. If it's a OPEN CELL Interior like they usually are. The Soapy solution we spray in the suit makes the suit 'slippery' usually comes sliding off fairly easy. No Problems.
Hey hello I am Italian and I do not speak English so well ... congratulations on your equipment but I would give you some advice: the ball or tablet in this case must always be attached to the gun because 'if attacks on towels and passes a boat and takes wire tablet pulls you straight propeller cmq mine was just a tip hello
@kukubird92 it really depends bro, all up my gear cost around $1500 but that is for targeting pelagic fish, for beginners you can probly get away with some gear around $500 which does the job :)
It's not the "2 piece" that makes it warmer- it's the "OPEN CELL" Interior rubber that makes it warm. It's would be very difficult to put on a 1 piece "OPEN CELL" suit. Not to mention, I'm not sure if they make a 1 Piece OPEN CELL. Maybe.
I use a 2 piece suit - cause it is warmer than a 1 piece. You can use these suit for scuba also. In Fact i would recommend it- as long as the exterior is Neoprene.
It was custom. It cost me with shipping around $350. My other Elios Custom was about $260- but that because the US Dollar was worth more at the time. I would have to Guesstimate around 300-400 shipped. And about 4 weeks to make and ship.
These videos are great! I agree with tsehos. Right now I use the valsalva method for equalizing as I dive. Which is where you pinch your nose and then blow through your nose and almost immediately swallow which seems to work for me. I am able to dive to about 40 feet possibly deeper. I do run out of breath pretty fast though. Anyway I am a fellow michigander, but I am in the south. Take care!
these suits are OPEN CELL Interior. They are made in 2 piece. as they are easier to put on than a 1 piece OPEN CELL would be. I don't know if I've actually seen a 1 piece OPEN CELL.
The only problem with showing you all how to hold your breath longer is- It could kill you. I highly recommend a Freediving class like F.I.I. or P.F.I. - I would hate to be the one responsible for teaching you how to have a longer breath hold and didn't cover EVERYTHING involved and something that could cause you to blackout and kill you. The Classes are worth Every CENT!! and Will save your life!!
This suit I don;t. But with OPEN CELL suits, you have to in order to put them on- or it's almost impossible. We use conditioner or a soapy solution. The open cell interior rubber will stick to your skin otherwise and is really hard to put on.
You really shouldn't connect you float line to yourself. If you get caught up underwater and your line gets snagged your screwed

@Will93bn - This is true. The waters we dive do not really have structures to stop us. Weeds mainly. But that is very true.

That's a good deal! good job!
whopperhead 1 year ago
@kukubird92 it really depends bro, all up my gear cost around $1500 but that is for targeting pelagic fish, for beginners you can probly get away with some gear around $500 which does the job :)

How is a 2 piece warmer then one piece?
270winchester587 2 years ago
It's not the "2 piece" that makes it warmer- it's the "OPEN CELL" Interior rubber that makes it warm. It's would be very difficult to put on a 1 piece "OPEN CELL" suit. Not to mention, I'm not sure if they make a 1 Piece OPEN CELL. Maybe.

why do spearfishers use 2 pieced wet suites and are the good to scuba in as well as free dive ???? plz help
JasonCrossie 2 years ago
I use a 2 piece suit - cause it is warmer than a 1 piece. You can use these suit for scuba also. In Fact i would recommend it- as long as the exterior is Neoprene.

i am an elios fan too!
TheLolokaka 2 years ago
was that a custom elios wetsuit???
if so, how much is it to get one??
can i get an approximate amount?
sinnimneb 2 years ago

Take care!
chupacabra312 2 years ago
I use the same technique- but maybe I don't "blow" as hard. I'm able to go over 100 Feet and feel fairly good about it.
whopperhead 2 years ago
Hey thanks for getting back to me. Good to know! That is an amazing depth! How do you hold your breath for so long? Practice?
chupacabra312 2 years ago
y do spear-fishermen use 2 piece suits?
trinityhewitson 2 years ago
these suits are OPEN CELL Interior. They are made in 2 piece. as they are easier to put on than a 1 piece OPEN CELL would be. I don't know if I've actually seen a 1 piece OPEN CELL.

how to hold my breath longer exersises or techniques episode will be good thank you
tsehos 2 years ago
The only problem with showing you all how to hold your breath longer is- It could kill you. I highly recommend a Freediving class like F.I.I. or P.F.I. - I would hate to be the one responsible for teaching you how to have a longer breath hold and didn't cover EVERYTHING involved and something that could cause you to blackout and kill you. The Classes are worth Every CENT!! and Will save your life!!

why do you put water in your suit?
Maui808SkinDiver 2 years ago
This suit I don;t. But with OPEN CELL suits, you have to in order to put them on- or it's almost impossible. We use conditioner or a soapy solution. The open cell interior rubber will stick to your skin otherwise and is really hard to put on.

nice video. I'm going to buy a spear gun in next couple of weeks. Trying to learn everything I can.
