Good advice here, I even use 4lb fluoro occasionally, the lakes up here are gin clear and it will get you more strikes then 6 or 8 lb. You just have to take more time to tire the fish out and not horse it to the boat.

Using straight braid will get you half as many bites as straight fluorocarbon or a leader. I really pefer straight fluorocarbon with KVD Line & Lure Conditioner and I use a smooth drag reel. Good luck!

i love my carrott rod...but damn...6lb test...should that be the diameter or the strength. i use braid line [8lb dia.] and sometimes tie flouro to it..but usually like to run straight braid..is this wrong
