J'ai écouté le messie il y a une semaine et depuis j'ai une seule envie c'est de pouvoir l'écouter tt le tps, surtout les parties avec le choeur... merci
I have and old recording of this piece, and it was performed with percussion. Timpani, cymbals, bass drums, bells, - all the section. Maybe Mr. Marriner didn't like to use this version of the score...?
@TheHaverfordNotables Hmm, kind of how we were taught to ornament for this stage of Baroque - (that you always approach those moments from the note above) so used to people singing it that way.
What a brilliant and precisely-singing soprano! I'm envious. She's this kind of singer that's perfectly suited to Handels music: No overdone vibrato and a light and pure voice... ♥
así es, Sir Neville sonríe ante uno de los fragmentos más alegres del oratorio, los coros son magníficos realmente. Gracias codonauta por subir estos videos.
The sopranos have had a few iffy moments, but I really appreciate the lightness of the tenors and the accuracy of the basses. This chorus is pretty much bomb.
Although I'd like a little more physical involvement from them.

As the producer of this production, I am glad that so many people enjoy the performances of these wonderful artists, nearly 20 yrs later.
Thank you for posting it.

What do you guys think of the singers staying on the G for "giv" instead of going down to the f#?
TheHaverfordNotables 1 year ago
@TheHaverfordNotables It's an ornament over the F#. I think the result is good. Today sounds me odd if the F#
is gotten directly, without the G.

Is the order of the strings really 1st violin-2nd violin-cello, viola?
Marthieka 1 year ago
@Marthieka
what do you mean by order? The order in the score, the range? In both cases viole are before celli.

Tengo la fortuna de poseer este CD. El coro y los solistas me parecen extraodinarios.

Well, this was 1992. And the chorus is rather posh and upright. They probably didn't want to make their enormous glasses fall off their faces...
