  • ho-ly FUCK

  • it got warm so i went to turn up the fan and...

  • No One Fan Can Have All That POWER!

  • Thanks for the slow motion video. By the way, it was probably destroyed because with that extreme wind power, the parts holding the blades began to be insecure, until eventually one blade broke off, and may have hit the tower, or after the first one, one of the last two hit the tower.

  • what i think happened was the blades kept bending and bending from the wind. and then one blade bent in to far and hit the tower which then caused the whole tower to bend and then the rest of the blades hit the tower

  • Comment removed

  • I think it blew apart because the brakes activated later than programed, and centrifugal force ripped the thing apart. See how the blades fly off in the direction that they were heading?

  • going going going and GONE

  • And they say wind power is completely safe. NOTHING man made is completely safe.

  • @vejet Sure beats nuclear.

  • Its destroyed not destructed.

  • 1.21 Gigawatt..

  • @S00rabh GREAT SCOTT!!

  • HOLY CRAP THAT WINDMILL SHREDDED O_O

  • I wish more of them would do that. Those things are eyesores.

  • @vince277 How?

  • thats how energizer batteries are made

  • Did someone play the ocarina?

  • Incredible!

  • owned

  • fantastic footage,

this is partially the reason I am weary of windmills, they require high levels of maintenance or things like this happen.

  • befor it broke it created electricity for a whole year! omg that was fast!

  • Catastrophic failure! Looks like the blade is some sort of laminated structure that just couldn't take the shear forces.

  • @bradsommers1961 Bi-axial fibreglass impregnated with some kind of high tensile epoxy... best guess of mine.

  • Looked like it hit that branch to me~ I could be wrong, but the instant it hit that thing, it burst.

  • @strikerk Are you literally retarded? That branch is infront of the camera, many yards away. NOBODY would ever build a tens of thousands dollar machine next to a fucking tree. It broke up from its rotational frequency. It was designed with a governor, to spin at a constant speed and produce level amounts of energy. This one got out of control, and spun itself to pieces. The blades were not intended to be thrown away from the center at that rate of speed. It was inevitable.

  • @mooseoftoose

I said I could be wrong, and you decided to insult me? :/ Says a lot about your upbringing. I don't parade around the internet telling people what I think is fact. I left myself open to correction and interpretation, not inflammatory remarks. I really hope for your sake that you do not have children, and pray that you have friends.

  • @strikerk I was just amazed at your interpretation of logic. In person, I would not have insulted you so harshly, however infront of a computer, just like everyone else, we all get pretty into it. My upbringing was perfectly normal, I was taught respect, and and still am taught this at a military academy. Oh, and thank you for your prayers ;)

  • @mooseoftoose This video is a good example of aerodynamic flutter: the blade reached a velocity at which its natural frequency combined with the turbulence from the wind across the blade reached positive feedback, and the shear stress was too great for the lightweight (fiberglass?) blade which broke apart. At that point the center of mass of the propeller was unstable and the rest of the destruction followed..

  • @strikerk That was stupid of you to say that the blade hit the branch... A wind turbing is 250-300 feet tall. Most people know wind turbines arent as short as tree -_-

  • @High808Kydd76South

When it was played, the reaction of the tree and the point of fracture of the blade and the branch created an illusion for me. Be a prick if you want, you're not the first on the internet to do so. Relish in it.

  • you spin me right round baby right round like a record baby you spin me- BOOM!!!!!!

  • f**k! was that real? where was that?

  • Marty's way to 1.21 gigawatts.

  • over speed

  • lol at least you got power for the rest of the year.

  • I would NOT want to be in the immediate area of that thing, with all that shrapnel flying at high speeds.

  • Al Gore is crying.

  • too much wind = too much power

  • I got this weird feeling its not supposed to spin that fast

  • :o

    EDF Energy are well pissed!

  • lota energy from that i bet lol

  • not really, it was the gearing that was broke, so it dint made wery much....

  • fuck me that was total rape.

  • OMG! WTF?!

  • WTF =D

  • Well it was going too fast.

  • Pickin's would be sad...

  • many windmills have a tail attched that would turn the propeller parallel to the wind if it were too strong, thus preventing this type of accident. This particular windmill may have been a home-made device or built from an inferior kit. I didn't see any device for aiming the propeller, so this particular windmill may just be a piece of crap.

  • Almost ALL comercial windmills are buildt this way. The generator housing is turned by an electric motor, it is way too big to be turned by the wind alone. This is a big windmill u know.

Modern windmills adjust their speed by regulating the pitch of the blades, the same way helicopters regulate their lift. Modern windmills also have an emergency brake that should completely stop the spindle when its speed is dangerously high. It seem that in this case non of those safety features functioned.

  • DAMN

  • Obviously a high speed wind caused the explosion; Therefore, I wonder if there should be installed a mechanism that automatically shuts off the windmill if it passes a certain RPM. I think that would save the windmill and the danger to the public. Please comment on this if you're an expect. Thanks!

  • Windmills do have such safety features that reduces its maximum speed, but they was malfunctioning. These breakdowns are rare, thankfully. Windmills are not supposed to spin this fast.

  • you are correct;) this was from denmark and they later found out the gearbox was broken so the windmill was left with out any form of control.

  • i agree with redline PWNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • for me that's is a TEST VOG AND OVERSPEED BROKEEN I'M WORKIN ON V47

  • 0:24 the remaining two blades break almost at the same instant. Is this due to the severe imbalance?

  • The imbalance caused the remaining two blades to strike the tower itself, if not the tower would still stand. You can see how the tower is severely dented at the bottom of the screen.

  • hmm i wonder how much electricity that made b4 it failed.. haha

  • PWNED!

  • that was making super electricity.

  • This is one thing I fear of these. A heavy wind storm and a terrorist attack. Nothing is safe anymore!

  • G forces got so bad it tore one blade and destruction followed

  • always thought my fear of passing by these things was an unreasonable fear....hmmmm...

  • pause it at the 1st blade breaking, it seems to twist around, it threw the bottom blade off balance slaming it into the main structure at the same time as the top blade shatering, u just dont think one og these things would fail so badly. nice vid

  • i don't understande how the first blade got damaged.

  • I suppose it has something to do with the sheer size of the mill. Small toy mills can spin many times per second. A large 30 yard mill blade can only spin so fast before breaking point.

  • @sneaker65 more like 66 - 130 ft the size of the blades

  • @taitai907 it hit the tree

  • @taitai907 it hit the tree

  • @taitai907 I think (and this is only an educated guess) the shaft from the blades started to go off center and then the first blade hit the support tower. You can see it start to disintigrate at the bottom part of its rotation.

  • @taitai907 centreifical force

  • @timothyp873 You mean centripetal acceleration?

  • rofl so much for wind energy

  • If live stock were present they would have been minced and ready prepared for a chilli con carne.

  • @pow1983 omaha steaks... mmmm good.

  • its taking a spaz attack lol

  • ooooh
