I'm with all of you on this one. I've used a chair of one sort or another for 32 yrs. I also know the feeling of being excluded. I was on a beach once with my manual chair on a bright sunny day, I parked my butt on the sand, and not thinking - my friends screwed off on me! When they got back, I was RED as a LOBSTER! Pass the butter sause!!
An incredible freedom machine! I love the idea that it climbs stairs and you can be eye to eye with everone else. At 275 pounds, I think I'm outta luck!
That is so cool, i can only dream of doing that. When I first found out about this wheelchair I was sold the moment I saw that is can go on sand. I always go back to my country visiting the beaches but I always have to stay in one spot as I watch everyone else have fun and run in the sand. I would give anything to have that freedom alone. You looked like you owned that beach, how wonderful.
Not even once! It did hesitate (spun wheels for less than a second) when i was sitting still in the shallow water for about 30 seconds. But it never came close to getting stuck in the dry sand.
Did this do any damage to the chair?

Wow...that's daring...expensive wheelchair, high-end electronics, sand, and water do not typically mix without disaster. Yikes!

Yes it was daring. But spending that day on the beach with my family was worth the $26,100.00 that I paid for the chair. (-:
It was my first trip to the beach where i was independant of others in over 30 years. And i will gladly take that risk again!!

What happened to the iBot company? I went to their website and they're no longer making this chair any more.

Your so right kirsy. It was awsome!! For the first time in 30 years i was able to move around on the beach by myself.
That one day alone was well worth the $26100.00.
I hope that someday you too can enjoy that feeling.
Take care
