It is rather strange to receive such compliments, especially from the United States. I shall keep the compliment carefully to one side and use it with savoured moderation. The song is very pretty and thoughtfully reminiscent, which makes a change from excessive nostalgia.I quickly visited your site and must thank you for putting so much music available to so many who unquestionably will benefit from your calibre of fingerstyle playing, which is enviable.Tim
@steelguitartim You are very welcome, Tim, this early morning (you are right) in the USA. I have a friend in Scotland so I'm aware of the time differences. And I'm up early, can't sleep, so what better to do, than listen to some good music. Take care, and have a great day. Gwen
@cadjunk In the comment below, I forgot to mention that the version of Mr Staines' song below by Messrs Makem and Clancy encouraged me to try my hand it, as it struck a sympathetic chord with my Irish origins. Perhaps Mr Staines was similarly influenced in his compositional inspiration? Both our countries have common musical streaks.
There are many other videos of live recordings of the wonderful late Mr Clancy.
Well Ms Brown, your words have given me the energy to keep trying with another song which is proving particularly arduous. I decided to come down for a break and there was your remark awaiting me. Thank you very much indeed. To discover that one has found common ground in some musical understanding and musical pleasure is most gratifying. To yourself and all those who take the trouble to write a few words expressing their satisfaction, I must say thank you very much indeed.
I shall be most attentive to this welcome encouragement and apply my renewed motivation to the present song which has continued to provide difficulty.
Hey Tim, now this is totally excellent and i enjoyed it very much. Great vocal and excellent acoustic arrangement. Just don't get any better. Straight to my favorites! THANKS ALOT FOR A VERY ENJOYABLE POSTING, C.W.
@harleyhawgn How true it is, your remark that you derive enjoyment from being able, and knowing you have been able, to reach out to another and deposit a knowing smile or a nod of the head, in agreement with our different but overlapping common memories. On a gray morning, when the sun is sulking, your compliments are a recompense for my trying, but let's not forget the composer, who captured a moment and described it so softly
Now, that is a nice a voice. Wish I had it.
