@john3000931 Don told her wife he was not going with her to visit her parents on thanksgiving; after he realizes the importance of her and his kids in his life he changes his mind and tries to get home in time to go with them. [first part seems to be his imagination of a "happy ending"] but when he arrives they were already gone.

I love the contrast here, too. Draper is old school, traditional, sexist, very 1950s. Then Dylan comes in and he might as well be singing "the times they are a-changin". New decade, new attitude, new society. And the one thing that's represented here - the crumbling of a very typical 50s marriage - is made all the more heartbreaking because Draper saw it coming but is surprised anyway.

@whoareyou342 Same here. I caught this scene while channel-surfing and started watching from the first episode. Seeing how forlorn and lonely Draper looks sitting on those steps is enough to keep any man from cheating - or at least to make him think twice before he does it.
