  • 50,000 people used to live here, now its a ghost town..

  • i couldnt imagine being stuck there at night... i would probably be so scared id die from fear

  • the long shots of one scene annoys viewers

  • a before taste of what kind wasteland the world will be one day, probably

  • @KalashnikovBoy94 Well your absoulutely correct! People have died there so there possibly could be some Spirtual Presence there. I recently came back from Pripyat just last year and those creaks you hear were in every single building. It gives me the chills, I also think there's ghost there those who cannot rest.

  • It is a true mystery

  • It would be incredibly awesome if someone would be able to set there a camera to create a timelapse several decades long!

  • Shit! I saw MacTavish at 2:24

  • @deemo600 where? i did not se him.

  • I want 2 go there in some years...

  • If you see this pictures, you wouldn't assume that it is on our planet.

You see people everyday in your normal life.

But you won't see people there.

That's outstanding, interesting and scaring and the same time.

  • i want to get there sooooo much :)

  • How did you get in there i wanna go so bad Dx

  • This is really cool.

  • this city is a monument on its own and should never be taken down

    let nature do its work

  • Stalker is a good game about this... call of pripyat is scary though lol

  • ser sku ikke godt ud

  • i want to go there with my camera , how can i ?

  • All of you cod fanboys please STFU

  • wow take like 30 seconds just to introudce yourself waste of time no one cares

  • 50000 people used to live here...... now it´s a gost town

  • id like to visit that place. does anybody know how to do that?

  • I really want to know if people still live there cause they have no where else to go .

  • only some people still own a few homes in pripyat where radiation isnt in a highly deadly dose, the houses are marked stating the owner still resides inside

  • I'm pretty sure people don't live there anymore, though I think they have guards patrolling the place for one reason or another.

I think after the explosion, the surviving population were evacuated out of the area, and that area became the "zone of alienation".

  • yes. there are some older people living there and a few families. i went aug of 08 and rode a motorcycle all over. I saw people farming and walking. on some of the houses, they have written family of 3 live here and such. a gov truck drops supplies off once a month.

  • God i bet osama-bin-laden is hiding out in one of those buildings.

  • I wonder why but...this video is scary. The deadly silence in the town...creepy

  • The Tour guide looks like the guy from the Chernobyl video Carl montgomery did.

    Creepy sound to the video.

    5/5

  • A friend of mine visited the place. You can get a tour with a Russian company named "Sam" (Google it) for £300. He said it's just astounding, g oing through peoples houses. He told me in one house, washing was still hung on the maiden. I do alot of research about Chernobyl, Prypyat and South Belarus and plan to go in 2/3 years time.

  • This is a masterpeice of video.

The sound scares the shit out of me though.

You have to wonder whats in all those lonely buildings?

    Ghosts?

    Clothing?

Furniture of all the people that fleed to escape the horror that killed hundreds of innocent men women and children?

I would enjoy visiting Pripyat to know the feeling of that deppressing town.

  • @KalashnikovBoy94 Mate, just come to Glasgow, basically the same.

  • @KalashnikovBoy94 Actually, ghost/phantom activity has been reported massively in Pripyat. Some isolated reports have come of feralistic (and cannibalistic) radiation victims roaming the woods around Pripyat. Bandits and robbers, often armed, can be found in the zone also. Wolves and bears can be a problem also. Radiation is also a terror of the zone.

  • @VideoGameNerd777 I haven't read up too much on this, I'm not sure about ghost activity myself, find that a little hard to believe but where did you read about the feralistic radiation victims? I am still fairly fresh reading into all this, but it interests me.

Just ordered a copy of Voices from Chernobyl too, heard it's a really good read.

  • @amc2004uk There are roughly 500-800 villagers living in the entire area of the Zone, mainly scattered throughout the woods. Very, very isolated reports have come in of some villagers turning to cannablism.

However, bandits and robbers are confirmed to exist by the military itself, which is why they strictly encourage armed escorts to be given throughout the Zone.

  • @VideoGameNerd777 I could guess about the bandits, I know there was a lot of looting in Pripyat, mostly a few years ago until they started clamping down on it, not that there's a whole lot worthwhile to loot now except scrap metal and the like and I know there are some folks living in the zone, I didn't think there was quite so many though, not to mention the cannibalism.

Since I'm sort of reading up on the subject, mind if I ask where you heard that?

  • @KalashnikovBoy94 Looking at photos, it's full of small everyday things, books, clothing, toys and rotten furniture.

There was problems a few years ago by looters, so there would be little of monetary value but I have to agree, I'd love to visit Pripyat...I honestly don't know why, but I feel drawn to visit the place.

  • @amc2004uk Me 2 man

  • @KalashnikovBoy94 fled not fleed

  • i remember when it was all over the news, i wasnt allowed outside to play with my friends for almost 2 weeks.

  • since so much old soviet equipment was left there, people have stolen so much that makes pripyat what it is.

  • "Look at this place. 50,000 people used to live here. Now It's a ghost town. Never seen anything like it..." That quote fits exactly for the city

  • quote from cod4

  • MABY CUZZ IT IS THE CITY?

  • this sound ...oh my god...

  • To clarify what mutton-for-brains is trying to say...there is a mission in the video game "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" where they carry out an assassination and subsequent evacuation near the gymnasium (you get to see the pool) and from the ferris wheel (last stand while waiting for air lift). The pics are see are from Pripyat, and it is both a sobering and terrifying place to be. Flowers are fruit grow densely radioactive, and moss as well. t will wake you up to be in the "dead city."

  • yeah I'm sure they built whole chernobyl after playing cod4 and though "hey this is kwl let's make a pool and a ferris wheel! And then abandon them!"

  • rofl they're "from" COD4?

    No, they are from reality

By the way STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl did Pripyat WAYYYYY before COD4 did, and way better I might add

  • I need to go there one day.

    I just NEED to.

Its abandoned, so you have freedom to go wherever you want.. into any apartment, any room, any office, god that would be a good place to visit...

  • me too:D

  • no its that simple..

you might meet wild animals anywhere

  • ya i would like to go there to like SSSSOOOOOOOOOO bad. but not go alone that would freak the crap outta me just me and nothing....

  • Erm, you don't have freedom to go wherever you want I'm afraid.

You have to be taken there by a tourist bus, checked when you get back on it, be tested for any radiation contamination when you arrive back at the centre and at every entrance to get there, there are guards and you aren't allowed to go inside any buildings for health and safety.

    Sorry. :P

  • Not true, you are allowed to enter certain buildings which the guide knows to be safe enough.

  • you should know that there is in some places a LOT of radiation over 20 rads... if you spent to much time there you would probably die or get deformed

  • radiation doesnt mutate or deform you, but if you stay there long enough in some basement you run the risk of getting to irradiated and will die by radiation poisoning.

  • maybe you can visit it without guide in a few hundred thousand years. then the radioactivity will be decayed to a great degree. so just be patient.

  • looooooool hahahhahahaha

  • dude they have tours in non alienation zones

  • There are no I Phones in Chernobyl and Pripyat . Also, if the border patrol finds out that have taken a radioactive item from there , they will sent you to 5 years of prison.

  • That has to be the dumbest statement I have ever read.

  • hahhaha lol. but u should leave them stay in peace

  • scary

  • 50,000 people used to live here...

  • now it's a ghost town...

  • Damn i really want to visit Pripyat. I would like to live there, but it's impossible at the moment :(

  • min 7:23 cod4 one shoot one kill sick i wanna visit this place

  • I've seen videos & photos of this place, but this footage made me realize the silence of it, of a dead & abandoned city. As one visitor put it, the silence is deafening!

  • awesome....

  • good stuff

  • This reminds me of "dawn of the dead"(original).

  • reminds me of "dawn of the dead" (original). Either way, the bugs were like: "ha ha! we won!"

  • could use a little paint

  • In every picture of that pool ive seen that broken blue table

  • What a fantastic place. Truly a favorite place of mine.

  • I wan't to visit Pripyat, it is so empty and so philosophic.

  • They have tour to Chernobyl. I'm going next year.

  • Ditto. I am going in August 2010. I can't wait.

  • So Pripyat is now a ghost town.

  • I wanna go there so bad. For now i can only visit Pripyat through vids, pictures and videogames

  • you can go to prypiat but some places around chernobyl is full with radiation.

thats why u need a guide

  • Chernobyl is my fav plce... i did a report at school on it... it made me mad that no one ever heard of it before... found it because of S.T.A.L.K.E.R :)

  • this planet wont see another 100 years.

    this shit keeps up.

  • Planet probably will but the human race won't.

  • we wont see another 100 yrs , earth will get along fine without us......

  • If what shit keeps up? I mean power plants dont explode every day you know.

  • got a question How much is the Radiation there its still high?

  • Safe for a quick nip in. But you would´nt want to spend ANY sort of extended time there.

  • In some places its high, in others its less. In the plant itself its so high it will kill you within days, if not earlier.

  • yes... several times higher than normal... close to the reactor (about 100meter range) it's 40 times above normal... the Ukranian government says "it's okay and nothing bad can happen to your health" and stuff like that... but if you spend a nice amount of time there you can really get cancer in the future... there are many documentaries about chernobyl today

  • In some parts, very high. The radiation in Pripyat won't be completely gone for thousands of years, if not more.

  • Sorry to disappoint you LilMan202, but I went there a year ago to make this film and I'm not dead yet.

  • I'm very impressed with your video. Can't wait to go there.

  • me 2 but i am to young :(

  • The same here. I guess we shall wait for a few years then. :)

  • Actually I've heard there are a few old people living there. Theyre still not dead.

  • Rofl you are an ass! If you stand 500 meters away from the actual power plant itself you get the smallest amount of radiation which will do no harm to you what so ever.

  • What a silly and ignorant thing to say. As long as you stick with the rules that the tourist guide lay, your health should not be affected at all.

  • A world without people. I really wish so.

It would be a better world.

  • Humans havent screwed up that bad that you must go around videos explaining your "inner" feelings.

  • i was there

  • It all goes to show that after the human race eventually kills itself, the animals and wildlife will once again rule the world. In my opinion, it's justice. All we are in the end is a self-destructive species, this is just one in many examples. We as a race almost don't deserve to inhabit such a beautiful world......

  • even it's a ghosttown, I wanne go there... I don't know why, but I feel like xD

  • if you wanna die shortly then go there! why do u think its barricaded??? just for fun?? NO, its against to those idiots who wanna die 5years earlier! stay there 2days u gonna feel sick

  • ...says a gta fan

  • Pripyat is famous in many video games infinity ward based some maps for cod 4 on the city, they only used the ferris wheel, the swimming pool and some of the apartment blocks

halflife 2 Episode 1 has got ruined hospitals which were based on the hospitals from pripyat

they city played a major role within the game STALKER

and some of the maps in battlefield 2 were based on pripyat

  • GET OUT OF HERE STALKER

  • swinmming pool in cod 4...cod 4 is just like it.....aits a man made ghost town...a man made hell

  • It is weird....disaster...I can't even imagine what the hell was it...and for the gamers...stop talking about some shits that they recreated chernobyl in cod4-THAT's not true and thats shit...theres only some buildings, swimig pool and the big wheel thats all...Only game that is really chernobyl like is S.T.A.L.K.E.R.:Shadow of chernobyl...(I mean only Chernobyl and Pripyat parts)

  • Shit game nothing.

  • It weird....disaster...I can't even imagine what the hell was it...and for the gamers...stop talking about some shits that they recreated chernobyl in cod4-THAT's not true and thats shit...theres only some buildings, swimig pool and the big wheel thats all...Only game that is really chernobyl like is S.T.A.L.K.E.R.:Shadow of chernobyl...(I mean only Chernobyl and Pripyat parts)

  • so ad :(

  • "MAN MADE HELL"

  • Well, it's not as bad anymore. There's some wildlife coming back, and some animals that aren't found anywhere else. But a new sarcophagus will have to be built, because the one that's there now is degrading.

  • yeah they need to build a new one till year 2012 or so there are pictures on the net how it will look like

  • are those the swimming baths off COD4 where the dogs in are in the bottom =S ?

ps - i really wanna visit pripyat, dunno why though...

  • its such a sad story

  • 50,000 people live there, now it's a ghost town.

  • very good video about abandoned city PRIPYAT

  • Looks like most people are discussing video games.

But this is real life, this actually happened and no one can say it wont happen again.

Sure there is no blood thirsty mutants running around the ruins.

If you want mutats there is a video about chernobyls victims some where around to.

  • omg 2:24 is in cod4 bloc!!!!

  • stop comparing shit to COD4 its real ass holes.

  • where does this state are?

  • No it's not like Cod4, Cod4 is like this!

  • Of course yes, foo!

  • impressive...

    awesome work, great video

  • fallout ;P

  • jus one big creepy place

  • Stalker: Shadow Of Chernobyl...exactly like it...so is COD4 i guess

  • not everything, but the ferriswheel and the pool is there...

  • This video es about the disaster of Chernobyl?

  • This video es about the disaster of Chernobyl?

  • about that light-scene 5:30, some scary shit, was there a chockwave after this incident?

  • **shockwave. No, there was no shockwave the explosion just popped the cap off of the reactor witch released the Radiation into the city. Fire went on for a good week but there wasn't a shockwave.

  • This reminds me of the Pruitt-Lgoe scene in Koyannisqatsi. Rent it if you dont know what I mean.

  • im really weirded out by the fact that the people who designed cod 4 actually used the pool, thats eerie, and the appartment buildings? wow

  • i've seen that pool and also had to think at cod4... amazing

  • The sound of silence... Amazing!

  • 28 days later....

  • Well done. You're video really captured the loneliness of the city. Good to see an Irish independent artist on youtube.

  • i wanna and go there and trip on acid

  • if i was russian or something i would go there.

  • how long can you stay in Chernobyl before you really get effected?

  • 10 minutes and you dead if you don't have any suit anti-radio acctivity

  • on lithuania its called (gali apsišvietinti)means you can drunk :D

  • how long can you stay in Chernobyl before you can really sick from all the radioactivity?

  • i really want to go there :D

  • me too

  • Great movie. You got this onto a DVD yet?

  • i read that there was alot of radiation in wales and island

  • Parts of Ireland got almost the same amount of radioactive materials as Ukraine. Kinda scary to think about it.

  • All that radioactivity (or something else) spred even up to Sweden and Norway!

  • agree with kleinmarten

  • The year 1986 does never end in this town.

  • at 5:30 the window of the right have light!!! WTF???

  • you'll find something about chernobyl on Metal Gear Solid and Call of Duty 4.

  • Yeah, I remember the MGS game that had it, Sons of Liberty I think. But Call of Duty 4, now there's a game that eerily recreated Chernobyl.

  • Unbelieveable pictures! Nicely done!

  • This is incredibly eerie. Very slow but so interesting

  • I recently became interested in this place from playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R and COD4, this has to be one of the most peaceful places on Earth, which makes it the saddest thing ever.

  • ROFL, everyone is screaming Call of Duty 4, CoD4!!! etc... Ever played S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Shadow of Chernobyl? If not, go get that game! The game has the most authentical Chernobyl recreation and the atmosphere is a killer.

  • cod 4 "all ghillied up"

  • Not to be disrespectful but Call of Duty 4 uses Pripyat in its story mode and the scenes of the pool are also in the game on the Bloc map. I only found this out by watching the video.

  • Pripyat is a testament to a terrible fate. It's the death of our dreamsongs. These people, men and women, traveled to Pripyat and lived there knowing that their city was a shining beacon of hope and prosperity inside the Soviet Union...

That's all gone now. What's left is a place where the people never died, and the dreams remained. You can still see the pride in the buildings...

Did you know, they don't teach this in the textbooks? Not in America. I never learned about it. I feel ashamed.

  • hrm? I learned this is 11th grade history along with the conditions of the factories and apartments

  • fantastic video. damn creepy!

  • at 2.00 if you look outside it looks so peacefully but inside the building is like a grenade exploded

    makes me sad :(

  • wow that must've been so scary when the accident happened a almost bustling city all of a sudden no1 is left.

  • i want to go there and run about in a stalker suit.

  • Christ, I hope he wore lead-lined Y-fronts, because around 4:15 you can see the radiation messing with the photocells of the camera if it was digital, or sunburning it if he's using film... Truly unnerving.

  • its so strange!!!

  • If Someone Plays Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare here.. Look At The Picture on 2:30.. Isnt that The pool From The Mission: One Shot, One kill?

  • You are right it is the same pool from one shoot one kill mission....
