here is a simple example: there is/are genes that makes animals eat fats and sweets like crazy because they are rare in nature. Except human society now has these items readily available to everyone. Our genes still tell us to eat all we can, so we get fat, since our genes are very slow to break a rule that worked well for millions of years. If we can switch off genes as they become irrelevant, or switch them on again, we can live lives more in sync with the current state of things.
