1 child... hmmmm? Try telling that to the people of the Middle East, Africa, the Stans, India. Last I checked, the Muslims, Sikhs, Hindus etc... didn't care what The Pope thought. Hell, very few Catholics care what The Vatican's view is on anything... especially condoms.
The industrialized world is already is running at 1 child or less and the Japanese race is literally going extinct. So, the very people who need to stop procreating are the people who r called "MMGW victims"
Enhanced Geothermal Energy is the solution to all our energy problems. 90% of the earth is internal heat. We can tap that anywhere on the globe. Once the wells are drilled and the plants in operation, it's virtually FREE renewable energy. Use the internal heat of the earth to generate electricity and from there make hydrogen for cars or use the electricity directly.
Im not sure why so many people and the goverments seem to turn such a blind eye to all of this ...money.?I work and live in oil and gas country when its gone what will we have left? ,polluted dying land, undrinkable water?makes you think.
@smilie3232 Those are good questions. There will come a time when we're going to have to live without oil, or with a lot less (except for billionaires, of course), so why not work our way off it now? Our desperation is what drives us into the Gulf of Mexico, into tar sands, into fracking - if there were any easy stuff left, we wouldn't be doing any of that. I'd rather we cut back while there are still forests and drinkable water!
As a canadian. Im glad most of the oil is comming from here. WHen we start running dry I assume were gonna keep it for ourselves. And you better hope the US wont be sending theyre army over. Thats just gonna start a whole mess
@anthonytrip80 Ha! I think the latter will be simultaneous with the former if global oil production actually starts declining year over year. Even the CEO of Total expects that to be by 2015. I'm hoping to spread the word long before that. I think we'll have a much better chance of a productive reaction if people are forewarned - as is, Robert Hirsch says there's an intentional blackout on the topic at the highest levels of government, for fear of panicking the markets. Er, more, I guess.
jon i do hope that we can see a shit in global consciousness...for our sakes and our kids sake.....but like i said its going to take something very big before humans see the changes that need to be made....i think that will happen when the oil runs out... you dont know what u got till its gone....i hope enough people see your movie....
@anthonytrip80 You never know - if we could project How to Boil a Frog on the moon and all watch it at once, it might create that shift in global consciousness that we need!
@dustininnes I have. My city runs almost exclusively on "green energy" (How green burning husks&stuff, 40% of our electricity comes from that, is another discussion) Buses run on natural liquid gas&bio-diesel, we got oodles of that. I bike everywhere because our infrastructure is optimized for it. Guess where I live. (hint: Streetfilms org )
To prepare for peak oil I converted my home to a net-zero solar powered home that uses no oil or gas..I made a video about it called, "Preparing for Peak Oil"....
As bad as Peak Oil is; Peak Export is even more frightening. It's nice to see both concepts presented in a nutshell in one single short video. Outstanding!
try 30 miles at most this guy has been selling the same concept since 1980, it never took off because it never went more than 30 km on a full tank, that's good for utility vehicles but not as a replacement for your car, that 1000 mile claim is a lie in disguise
US domestic oil production peaked in 1970. Look up any of the stats. (This doesn't mean *all* wells peaked, just that total US production has declined since then.)
Furthermore, it's quite possible to get away from oil very easily. You mention cars earlier -- within one year, you'll see plug-in hybrids on the market: SUVs that get 150mpg and can go for years without buying gas.
And that's just transport. The US can go oil-free in a few years, at a profit.
theres no such thing as oil free, any moving metal part requires lubrication, be it oil or grease, also no oil, no plastic btw I am aware of the stats on US peak in 1970, it's misleading
Lubrication and plastic can be made without the use of conventional oil. Already the former can be done using renewable palm oil, for instance. (There are other problems with palm oil, such as biodiversity, but the point is that you don't need fossil fuels for it.)
And how is the peak "misleading"? US oil production reached its maximum at that point and has been declining ever since. That's the very definition of a peak.
if they stop selling to us we can just take it, Canada, & Mexico, or any other country for that matter, has 2 choices, a buck in the pocket, or a kick in tha ass
there is a shitload of "oil Shale" in Colorado, Utah, & Wyoming, estimated 800 billion barrels of "recoverable" oil thats 3x what Saudi Arabia has, plus we have the worlds largest coal reserves, coal can be converted to oil I dont know why we dont do it
No one has yet determined a method of recovering shale oil at an energy profit (it takes more energy to extract oil from shale oil than you get out of it). The issue isn't supply, it's deliverability.
As for thinking we don't need oil: You'd be surprised.
Shell is developing a method of heating up the shale, thus "speeding up" the evalutionary process, plus we need oil for my V-8 truck an electric car is unacceptable
Wow, this is a very funny and informative video in Monty Python's style about the peak oil issue. I am quite sure that Big Oil knows well how soon and disastrous the coming oil shortages will hit us. Their public denial to recognize the coming peak oil crisis is irresponsible because this behavior encourages wrong decisions like building new airport runways or motorways. Thank you for posting...

a geologist once told me there were tons of oil burried deep in Iowa not to mention all the sadn oil in Canada.
I think the day they can predict all earthquakes will be the day we know where all the oil is.
