Chimps will never turn into humans. That's not how it works. It's more like chaos theory. Come back in five million years and you can possibly see "the new chimps" doing stuff that humans can't do today and humans have possibly moved to Mars haha. Except for the creationists we left behind so the new chimps can have something to laugh at hahahahahahahahahaha! oh, well :)
i still dont think that people get how close the two are, even after this video they say how we make patents, how we think more thoughts. But everything is relevent when taken into context.. A chimp finding a new way to use a stick, to perhaps take the bark off a tree and in turn shows his fellow chimps,, just made a patent. Humans are so full of themselves, chimps are still way more similar to us then this video portrays,
The great apes can't evolve because we exist. If suddenly H. Sapiens were out of the way chimps might evolve into fully upright intelligent humans within 2-3 million years.
@manco82 maybe but then again power and strength beats intelligence to some extent, i think super preditors would rise again. if so then i guess natural selection will take hold of the apes and they will slowly evolve to be strong more agressive etc (much more likely) or become more intelligent (not very likely)

what prevents it?... They are apes! Still in the primitive state living in the wild. Like early humans who were still primitive in the wild.
This shows they have the capacity to learn and evolve just like humans did.
