Thanks so much for sharing. Your enthusiasm is inspiring. The Blue Beard(?) makes me think of the Waters of Life held by the Goddess Ishtar and also of the River of Life flowing from a mouth in a Mayan Picture. I'm not an Archeologist nor Historian so please don't rip me a new one for not being able to be more specific as to the names of the things the Bull reminds me of. Thanks again for taking time and resources to share this with the world.
@1clinttorris And thank you for you comment. LOL it's all good. you're actually right too.
It would be interesting to note that both the field of history and archaeology has been pushed forward by significant contributions by people with no background or training in either field, but a love for it. Arguably the most important too. But, shhhh... we'll keep that between us! ;)
Nice! People get so caught up in the here and now that they forget that the world has seen incredible times for thousands (and hundreds of thousands) of years. There is so much knowledge yet to be learned.
It's kind of like the fans of Lady Gaga not realizing there was a Britney Spears that predated her. Preposterous...
@EvannRachel I know. Especially when you have people going around the deserts blowing up really old statues because they are a slight against their god, etc. Really sad. Thanks for stopping by.
@KristinSpradling It's really incredible when you think about all the man made inventions that we take for granted today like language, a writing system, a written history, art and science. All started from these cats. Thanks for the comment.
"Stand clear of the closing doors, Please!" haha! Anything that makes the Egyptian Culture a johnny-come-lately, really impresses. Hope you did some heavy duty protection/purification rituals around those artifacts. There must be a lot of curses and spells on those things. You wouldn't want to take any of that home with you! haha!
@LoveMattersMost It's all good. I am wearing my flyers Jersey. They're already cursed. So...I figure a negative and a negative will cancel each other out....or...maybe I transferred the curse on to the flyers. By the looks of things, that's what I might have done! Damn!
The U of P Museum ROCKS!! Been there a few times :D Wish the Phila Museum of Art had more treasures like these. Not that I think that they should be taken from their rightful place, but having them travel from museum to museum would be nice to see, rather than on permanent display at one location. Thanks for sharing :D
Trust me, they're better off in America than in Iraq. I know a lot about the antiquities market. Either they would have been blown up, or melted down and sold like many Egyptian artifacts well before the riots under the black market speculator and bully Zahi Hawass. The property that you own is rightfully yours so long as you can defend it. We're all just care takers of this stuff, it's going to outlast us all hopefully. IMHO

That is fascinating! I feel like I could spend years in Iraq, Syria, and others studying this stuff. Such a shame that it's so difficult.
