  • This is one of Nirvana's best songs...slight edge from In Utero while having hit potential at the time

  • @JoesTheShow

Then learn to keep your hole shut.

    TWAT.

  • @CoQ10z i don't know who you are but your comments crack me the fuck up :)

  • Reminds me of when there was still hope in this world.

  • why is this also called verse chorus verse? it sounds waay different and has wayy different lyrics....anybody know?

  • @GeekStinkBreath737 Nirvana, for some strange reason, decided to call it verse chorus verse even though they already happened to have a song by that name. It was a hidden track on this album and never had an official title imprinted on the disc, so to avoid confusion they renamed it to sappy. it is also sometimes referred to as "sad."

  • @Mashuga31 got it..thaanks

  • Maybe they should invent a "love with a passion" button...

  • "he knows life is not fair too soon" words from his mom

  • Sad + Happy =Sappy

  • we are listening to a song about a turtle!!! xD

...and it is fucking good, Kurt Cobain was really a good musician, he puts his heart in his music...

the world needs more musicians like him, today

  • i always use to think that kurt wrote this song for his mother, but i guess we'll never know.

  • HEAVEN :)

  • isn't this song title verse chorus verse?

  • @bdassvids I know... it's been constant confusion on that topic over the years.. I need to 'google' better ;) haha

  • @bdassvids nah that's sappy/sad, different song. this is heart shaped box

  • so is this the 1993 Version Recorded During the In Utero Sessions?

  • awesome song!

  • You'll wallow in your shit

    Then you'll think you're happy

    Now....

    (no need for interpretation :-D)

  • when was this song recorded?

  • @UnavailablePro 1993.

  • @UnavailablePro The song itself has been recorded and tweaked several times throughout Nirvana's career.

Until finally settling on this version, which was recorded in 1993 during the In Utero sessions.

  • @CoQ10z

Jesus Christ, then why wasn't this on In Utero?

  • @ChickenFaeces

I always wondered that also. They could've omitted the song "tourettes" from In Utero and replaced it with this gem. I guess Kurt had a different concept for In Utero.

  • @CoQ10z Don't talk shit about tourettes that song is beautiful.

  • @JoesTheShow

Yeah, what are you going to do about it, twerp?

  • @CoQ10z

    "4. twerp 139 up, 125 down

A kid who farts in the bathtub and eats the bubbles.

Fargas: Was that your kid in there with his face in the bathwater?

Mick: Yeah, he's eating his farts.

Fargas: That little bastard is a real twerp, just like his old man.

    Mick: Fuck you!!!"

  • @UnavailablePro there's three different studio versions. this one is from the in utero era. (on the with the lights out box set). the other two - one's on the "best of the box" CD, and the other is on the deluxe nevermind cd set

  • It's a beautiful song. It makes me sad knowing that Nirvana was headed in this direction and it abruptly and sadly ended. You will always be missed Kurt.

  • 2 people cut them selves

  • this and ''you know youre right'' best nirvana songs :)

  • one of his best studio solos

  • the best solo from kurt!!

  • why is the dislike button put there at all?

  • @MeAndRHCP The best question on Youtube, EVER.

They should get rid of the like/ dislike thingy all together.

  • @CoQ10z I mean...for this song...cause its the best:)

  • Bought this compilation when I was about 10-11 years old. I was drawn into Nirvana's music so young after hearing Smells Like Teen Spirit on a car ride up north with our neighbor's older daughter. In a way, time has kind of stood still for me since then. How much closer to the truth can you get in life to Nirvana?

  • i just thought of something at this moment... since courtney has the rights to alot of Nirvana songs, and dave obviously knows them. him and foo fighters should do covers of them... i mean as long as he puts (Nirvana cover) there shouldnt be no problems... i mean ppl do covers all the time haha

  • The 90's was 20 years ago? Wait, what?!

  • wow, i didnt know this was actually released on a record, i thought it was an outtake or something when i heard it off with the lights out box set

  • LOVENIRVANA4EVER

  • 2 people are in a laundry room

  • @simulatedbass rofl heuaheauheae

  • One of the best things in my life?

    -Nirvana

  • This song is so Nirvanish

  • cosa è sacro e cosa è profano giudicatelo voi per me è uguale. per me è lei verse chorus verse and i will stole this cd to my father some of these day..

  • i bought no alternative on tape in 94 i think this was sort of a hidden track. they used to do cool shit like that

  • Курт,ти помер,але я живу за тебе.Ми всй пя"ниці,я та моя дружина.

    Мені так подобається ця пісня.

    I like this song.

  • is this on itunes

  • @Shadowsszz screw itunes

  • @slarbiter Yes indeed screw Itunes those fuckers can see what you are downloading LOL

  • They play this on the radio pretty often, in my parts.

  • This version from 1993 was retitiled to Verse Chourus Verse (for some odd reason). the confusing part is that it was another unrealesed Nirvana track from 1991 with totally different lyrics...and much different tune.

  • I used to own this album. Somehow shit disappears as the years go on.

  • Thanks for the High Quality version upload, I love this song to death!

  • It's a shame this doesn't get any radio air play

  • @TheNeil450 It does get radio play! I heard it on the radio two days ago and recognized the voice but didn't know the song so I emailed the station to find out what song it was.

  • @TheNeil450 i actually heard it played on the 99.3 the fox in vancouver (where i'm from) .. but it was when the box set was first released so they were playing a bunch of shit from it... kurts solo in this song is just fucking epic!!!

  • This will always be VERSE CHORUS VERSE to me.. just like it says on the back of NO ALTERNATIVE.. I bought this CD in 1994 when I was a sophomore and heard it on the radio here in CHICAGO. It was a rare find for a dedicated fan. Kurt was with me (thru music) all through high school and beyond. His music rings true to me now like it did then. Hearing this gets me all emotional.. RiP KurT, you are missed brotha..

  • @TheBluntedKid Agreed! The one they call "Verse Chorus Verse" now is something totally different.

  • The best Nirvana song, hands down.

  • GREAT QUALITIY OH MY GOSH THIS IS THE BEST VERSION.

  • hey great quality !!... sappy gmv

  • CoQ10z? Ladd Mcnamara?

  • @TimeTurnproductions Um, who's Ladd Mcnamara? o.O

  • I love this song... I'm having a Nirvana renaissance (sp?) now by the way.

  • Unlike any other group, this band always had an special feeling, it held no time do like their music. It always come kicking in when you hear it for the first time. Its very simple and deep at the same time.

  • i don't know this album...

  • @natz428 No Alternative was an AIDS benefit album from bands of the 90's :]

  • @Avenn2113 oh thanks man, i didn't know that ;)

  • This song is and "In His Hands" are every proper nirvana fans best kept secret. It doesn't seem like nearly 16 years but it is. RIP

  • @imhotepsol don't forget blandest

  • The lyrics are more beautiful than meaningful.

  • I snuck into my friend's room when he wasn't home and he has Kurt's diary and it had this song in it...that would be creepy to have ur diary, journal, whatever published after you died.

  • i am so glad i didnt check off do not send when i belonge to one of those cd clubs. this was the "pick of the month" when it came out. I still have this cd "NO ALTERNATIVE" and I always go to this tune first then listen to the whole cd til it plays again.

  • Love Kurts solos... Love everything he did musically.

  • @SnewgAlbert i might be wrond but this is his only solo using the neck pickup and also his best in my opinion.

  • @NixNadaNorge This solo is for the rednecks who thinks that only shredding on a solo is good

  • @bogoio Man this solo aint shredding - I wouldnt like if it was. It's soulful just like his mentor - Joey Santiago.

  • @NixNadaNorge You are misunderstanding me, I said this solo proves that it doesnt need to be fast and have zillion notes/second to be a good solo

  • @bogoio ..my bad, cheers :)

  • No one knows this song and I listened to it on a bus in 1996 in Idaho on the way to school from a drum competiton. I never was one to gloat over knowing some obscure band or great hidden track but for my love of Nirvana and this songs' obscurity I AM PROUD!!!

  • not sappy it was released by kurt himself on this cd no alternative as verse chorus verse

  • That's true. We all knew this as VCV back in the day. To my surprise, the name was changed because of a second song with the same name. Of course, the phrase, "verse chorus verse" was tossed around a lot by Kurt Cobain.

Ah, it's no nice to come back to this.

  • @gamesDAMNED well it's always been 'alternatively' known as sappy, that's just the other title he had for it....

  • @Jvergakis The song wasn't released with a title in 1993, as it was a hidden track on the No Alternative disc. It was later officially retitled "Sappy" and is included on the "With The Lights Out" three-disc Nirvana compilation.

  • @Jvergakis but it isn't accreditated and there isn't the song title in the booklet

  • @Jvergakis the reason it's titled "Sappy" is because Kurt had another song called "Verse Chorus Verse," and in his journals he titled the lyrics to this one "Sappy" and the lyrics to that one "Verse Chorus Verse."

  • OMFG this song is AWESOME!

First time ive heard it in 11 years

  • @BrendenS1 good music never fades

  • nice quality

  • good music is hard to find huh?

  • wow
