I do still have this car and it's still my daily driver, I have driven it back and fourth from California to Texas about four times now and it's been solid all four trips. it was at 134k when this video was made last year and it's now at 167k, it's been a great, reliable, fun and comfortable car which i'm hoping to keep for years to come!
@DMCJordaan I remember a lot of Mercedes from my Dad who was a tech at a dealership in Princeton, NJ. He passed away when I was 12. Just love swapping stories about Benz's. Hope you have best of luck with your 300E. Reliable cars, and tend to outlive their owners with the right care.
IF you have to ask the gas economy, you can't afford it.....Seriously, I get an average of 20 mpg with combination driving. If I take a trip on the highway and cruise below 80 mph I get 24 mpg. My 1991 rides like a dream, at 215,000 miles. One key is good tires. I put on a full set of Pirelli P6's, which meets the factory specifications. I tend to go between driving like a limo driver and a race car driver. Hey, it digs in, corners and zooms.
The 124 is my favorite Mercedes. I currently have a '95 Cabrio with 216k on it and love it. Looks and drives like new. I agree about tires, don't cheap out, I bought Michelin MXV4s and they work great with the suspension. Looking to pick up a 91 or older sedan in fact.
Only 134k at the time and she'll go for many more... do you still have the car?
