there's a lot of difference if your playing a blu-ray disc to get the best is to put it on 1080p same with compatible 180p games like kz2 mw2 but games like rainbow six vegas its 720p

20GB is the worst dont ever get the 20GB model it shouldnt even be made, it has no wifi so you wont be able to play games online or go on psn thats a huge disadvantage, no chrome trim or satin silver trim

I've been doing my research on a backwards compatable ps3 ( I need the space) I've found that the 60gb fails much more frequently than the 20gb. You can also get past the wireless-ness, with a wireless ethernet bridge. Hope I helped.

@SandShinobi535 lol dude even if the 20gb model is not built-in wifi, it has atleast more features than 40gb or 3rd gen//2nd gen 80gb. no problem with the hdd capacity since it's upgradable and btw I am an owner of 20gb myself I can play online you just need an ethernet cable and a wireless gaming adapter to make it as wireless connection

Backwards compatability is being scrapped according to Sony. They will only dedicate efforts to full PS3 software.

Actually dude, on the ps3s that came out earlier on like the motorstorm 80 gig, and the special edition mgs4 80 gig, all had backwards compatability with ps2 and ps1 games, some of the games had issues but they still fix how the games play with firmware updates. Thats one of the reasons i got my ps3 early after i heard they were taking away the backwards compatability.

between HDMI on a full HDTV and composite(or componant) on a standard def tv there is a HUGE difference like .. a MASSSIVE difference

are you talking about tv's. Most tv's you buy anymore are HD. It might not be the highest resolution though. Usually the tv will be 720p, 1080i, or 1080p. 720p and 1080i are practically the same. 1080p is the best though, but you really dont need a 1080p set unless you have a tv 42" or bigger. If you dont use component or HDMI cords it wont be in HD. Any cable or satelite company only broadcasts up to 1080i. The only things I can think of that run 1080p are game systems and blu-ray.

It dosent matter that its an LCD. LCD's DLP's and Plasmas are all HD. It just matters on the tv's resolution. If you have anything under 42" 720p/1080i will give you a good picture. Of course 1080p is the best but you really cant tell any difference untill the picture is enlarged to about 50" or more, and 1080p sets are more expensive. You should be able to get a nice TV 4 a good price. Tv's prices have gone down recently. The TV wont be in HD unless you run it through HDMI or component chords.

depends on what hookups your using. do you have HDMI, component, or composite? HDMI is the best (digital output), Component gives a little bit less of a crisp picture because it uses analog output, and composite is just standard def. go with either HDMI or component, you cant go wrong with either.

there is no difference whatso ever between the 2 models exept for what you already stated plus a smaller/bigger stock hard drive depending on which one you choose. but you are able to swap hard drives in any model. performance will be the same, blu-ray comes standard in every model along with full 1080p capabilities as long as you have an HDMI cord running from the ps3 to the tv. i suggest you get a good surround sound to go with it, 5.1 should do nicely. GOOD SOUND IS HALF THE EXPERIENCE!!!

There really isnt a difference in look between HDMI and component. The only real difference is that HDMI runs digital video/audio while component only runs video.

actually there is a significant difference. try both cables on a 50 inch plasma and then tell me there is no difference ;) its nothing really to write home about but there is a difference.. its just alot harder to notice it on t.vs smaller than 50 inches.

I put my PS3 on it's side for better ventilation. Makre sure if it falls over, it wont break. I also clean it with a cloth every few days so the dust doesn't build upt.

P.S. Don't worry about breaking on you, it's not an Xbox 360.

yes you still get opnline play on the 20gb, but not wireless. inb my opinion, wired is fine and gives a better speed then wireless, so if you have a router of modem close by, u need to connect it with the ethernat wire
