I'm a little irked to see that my previous comments have been hidden & curious as to why.

Having had time to stew with this album, in the end I think it's good enough to trump whatever I think of Gareth's attitude. What I do think of that attitude remains unchanged however - his concern should have been how his art is received, and how it was *acquired* a distant second.

Again, ultimately, the kids tweeting their approval didn't leak the thing in the first place - somebody in LC!s camp did.

I'm not a huge LC! fan but Gareth's reaction to leak on Twitter has probably put me off them forever. I understand being frustrated at losing control of your own artistic output, but by and large people just wanted to tell him they loved his music and didn't think. He completely missed that point, or dismissed it as if it were unimportant, which to me is a totally wrongheaded way to deal with the people who, after all, buy your tickets, t shirts and yes, occasionally even discs.

No, I understand his frustration, but leaks are an unavoidable part of music now and people take them for granted. The kids who tweeted Gareth about the leak didn't think "Ooh free album, lets gloat". They thought "Oh good, new music from a band I love". They didn't act out of malice or ill-intent, they just found some new output from a band they genuinely loved and didn't think. Gareth called those kids cunts, dicks and pisstreaks. In those words.

A frontman who speaks his mind is one thing - an admirable thing, something I admired about LC! in the past. A frontman who instinctively lashes out at fans trying to tell him they love the art he's made is another. It seems to me that how they acquired it should be a secondary consideration - after all, they didn't leak it.

The shame is that I don't think that was at all representative of their dealings with their audience overall - I just know that I hear their songs less fondly ever since.

i just dont like new los campesinos at all...gareth can say whatever he likes about a leaked album, idc im not sensitive about it. i would just rather los campesinos! go back to their more honest and witty selves.. i get not satisfaction of emotional empathy out of this album..it feels like..well..nothing. i dont feel anything for this music anymore and its disheartening.. they need to go back to You'll need those fingers for crossing and we are beautiful we are doomed..
