Good on you for posting this. This is a beautiful song and great record. However, Icehouse is NOT really an "underrated" band...unfortunately that Underrated status is probably true only in America. Like most good bands from the UK and/or Oz, they never really caught on in the U.S, except for a brief "spurt" of stateside success. In fact, Icehouse was/is highly valued in Oz and Europe. Anyway, no worries...as long as we keep appreciating Icehouse, that's all that matters. Cheers... :-)

I love the metaphor of the people at the station, "do they go nowhere?" It is in fact the girl on Angel Street that goes nowhere, either physically or in her life. I "grok" the quiet desperation of both the girl and her beaus. Underrated song, underrated band, underrated comment. (JK about the comment remark.)

I can't believe this song is not on the Icehouse "Greatest Hits" compilation (on iTunes). I agree that this band was underrated. This is an example amazing songwriting production and lyrics, especially in the 2nd verse. It's beautiful, sad and moving. I love it!
