Not a bad fight at all but IIRC it's better to plasma after dropping it's defenses. Triple rocket at hardest difficulty to drop it then rail and quick switch to plasma and spam until it regenerates.

love Q4... started playing it again just for kicks while waiting for RAGE. I'm an id fan since I can remember. I was a little disappointed in some design parts in Quake 4 (in art and many models) but that's because Raven made it and you can tell the difference. They did a heck of a job sizing it up to look and play as much of a Quake game as it should, but if id made it I am sure some details (characters and levels) would of been more spot on. See Quake 3 and Doom 3 for example ;) Don't u agree?

This was on hard, Besides, I heard on easy mode, the random baddies down below don't actually spawn.

Quake 4 is vey under rated, yes it has it's flaws and it could have been better if id made it instead of raven, but yet it's still a good game. A sequel to Q2 but does not play anything like Q2 but what could you expect games today won't be like the old id FPSs but I think it would be more fun to have games be more like D1 and D2 and of course Wolf3d along with Q1 and Q2 id really makes the best FPSs I hope D4 and Q5 have a classic mode with no reloading for the campaign.

@ConnorGW I think Raven develops gameplots better than Id. Id is a softwarehouse with impressive graphic developers, but on the rest of the job it is very mediocre. It lacks of new ideas and the plots are always pretty linear and obvious. The game mechanics never really improved (or never ever at all) like others did. Indeed, I found out Q4 and D3 to be terrible when compared to other (even older) new generation FPS. And before you say, it is an old Doom2/Q1/Q2 fan who is talking.

i just finished this game on the hardest difficulty and i must say... its pretty damn difficult. a lot of saves, a lot of moments i had to redo, just to have that little more health and armor. especially the part before the nexus, where there are 3 rushes of enemies, teleporting in 2's. first those guys with the flamethrowers and the nasty hyperblasters, 3 of em, then those flying assholes, with the tracking rockets, 3 of em as well. and lastly those spider robots, 2 of em. hard but awsome

To be Honest I like Quake 1 and Quake 2 but IMO

They should changed the name since Quake 2, because since when John Romero "left" ID Software, everything changed there, and Quake 2 isn't the same as Quake 1, the history changes critically, a LOT, in fact, is not even the same history, same goes for Quake 3 Arena, they Should have used diferent names I.E.

instead of Quake 2: The March of Stroggs

instead of Quake 3 Arena/Team Arena: ID Realm maybe?

I remember having to repeat level in Quake 1 where I was left with 5 HP, little ammo and 3 shamblers to fight... It promoted tactical fighting, conserving HP and ammo, unlike today games where it auto replenishes all your hp between packs of enemies so you can go wtf berzerk on them.

Well, for a 2005 game Quake looks really bad, Counter Strike Source (2004), Battlefield 2 (2004) for example, looks a million times better.

The gameplay quality is in first place, but it doesnt means graphics, sounds, etc, are not important.

Quake 4 is still one of the best looking games ever made imo.
