I have always thought the original singer of any song is the best for any song, Stevie Nicks is the best on this one but that is coming from a 40yr old man who grew up with her on the radio. "Edge of Seventeen" is a signature piece for Stevie Nicks, so strongly associated with her anyone would have trouble covering it. Add to that the fact that Lohan is still a fledgling artist and I think it was bound to not measure up. I don't hate covers for differing from the originals, they're *supposed* to be different IMO, and Lohan doesn't have a bad voice at all, but she turned a distinct song into something very generic. Not particularly bad, but there's no punch in this for me.

But when I joined the army and made this vid, later deployed (where I am today) to Iraq, I felt calmer and more connected to her version with its enfused synths and guitars.
