Wow too much talent! He put this together all on his own 30 years ago. Always loved this song off Ghost. Where can I get a copy of all the Ghost In The Machine demos on cd so I can pretend I have a new Police album (those were the days...).
Long time Police / Sting fan here, first ever record I bought was Outlandos d'amour. This is one of my fav tracks on Ghost in the Machine. Gotta love the Repetitive mantra like nature and Stings harmonies. Never heard before thanks! This would be cool to hear Stewart Copelands drums dubbed in top!
the police were (and still would be if they hadn't broken up) an amazing band! i don't listen to much else. i have a playlist of 72 songs on my iPod, and out of those seventy two, 31 are by the police! Love them!
Sting's mind is so fascinating, no wonder it was recently analyzed for scientific purposes. This 1981 demo is more exciting than most finished songs being released today and, as the previous comment states, completely relevant to today's world.
Thank you to ghostsonasong for leading me to this video.
I would have written a comment. I don't remember listening to this before, so it's a great find, and very important for me, because I have always loved the original track and because everything by The Police is vital for me. Thanx again.
The Demo sounds like they were made for someone else But Sting Pulled it off good. It seems like the Late Michael Jackson sould have done a duet with the Police in the demo version but then again Sting and Jackson attract different audiences.
pretty basic funk riff, but the police had the musicianship to make it sound brilliant..underrated by critics at the time, but their music still sounds mint today..love the "album" tracks off their albums rather than the singles..stuff like "voices inside my head", "hungry for You", "world is running down" etc are superb rock/funk "workouts"
Sting is such a brilliant songwriter! Just saw them in concert two weeks ago and I'm still in a daze from the fantastic concert! Loved all 3 of them! so amazing! Andy and Stewart are Rock Gods!!!
as a songwriter/guitarist/bassist/singer/recording "engineer", myself, I can tell you even these demos take a hell of a lot of work for one person. I don't expect the average music listener to realize that, but saying this sucks is lame in itself.
@taradead I agree, I am in the process of recording with my home crap and it's terrible. Nothing like this. This is really good for solo, especially at that time
how much information is too much?

Your an ass! Stop bashing demo's not meant for public release. These are behind the scene gems inside the song writing process.
