dont get me wrong this is just a movie. it is badass movies and so is chigurh. but one can really tell how he is def not a professional in the trained sense of the word. he clearly gives any would be enemy multiple chances to kill him if they knew what they were doing, like when he enters the bathroom, or when he closes the shower curtain on the guy, who could have then quickly diverted the barrel of the gun since chigurh was not looking at him and then rushed him, just my humble observation.

later in the movie, the sherriff says somthing about an air rifle, using compressed air to shoot rods into the brains of meat, or thrashing horses that need to be put down. that's wat i thimnk he is using.

In fact I think it's basically useless, though it can reduce the noise at some degree. I think they've made special pump guns to be silenced -it could be one of those. Or as well, i've heard that U.S. Navy Seals researched "noiseless" ammo shots for silenced pump guns. What I'm pretty sure about, it doesn't make that nail-gun noise; even a silenced pistol sounds pretty louder than that -quite like a bold hand clapping

I read the book and its some sort of modified shotgun with a homemade silencer on it. Well in the book it was at least....
