He was no operator pulling up to a 20 meter bluff with his bucket over his head -- Jesusss!!! lower it to the ground and push the load off the bluff for Christ sake!!!
just get that exavator to hold onto the back, lower the bucket, and off ya go, as for the broken bones, just duck tape em, but in all seriousness, the operator is lucky he did not get crushed
he probaly drove to the edge and tried to stop but went to far and slammed into reverse and then put the petal to the metal a little to fast and tipped it frontwards
In something like that you never jump out cause it will probably crush you. Just hang on and ride it to the bottom. In this case the bottom was the top so he should have just gotten away with a ruined pair of underwear, a yelling from his boss and his co workers ribbing him.
Falling 20m usually results in death. The non-lethal fall distance is up to 4m. Any higher than that would be possible death, so this guy is lucky he survives.
The most amazing part of this video is the dumbassed "officials" wandering around at the bottom of the rock face while the operation above is ongoing.
@SuperElShampoo Yes, you can hear a guy talking norwegian in the background. He can also be traced by his dialect to east-part (little-sweden) of Norway.
from what i can see he was dumping something that was way too heavy to be in the bucket in the first place and when released over the edge the loader countered....
When I first saw this video, I thought 20 meters? more like 2 meters! Then they zoomed out. If you were facing a drop like that cliff in a machine, jumping wasn't a half bad idea. This guy didn't have many options from the looks of things. Had the machine gone completely over, the edge that cab wouldn't have protected him much. Although if I was jumping from the machine, I might want to try for solid ground behind the machine instead of the drop off in front.
seat belt and keep the boom low. everyone gets in situation were ur lips go numb when working around large drops. all accidents are avoidable but its really easy to see were u went wrong when u are looking at it after all said and done. could have been worse the loader could have fell on him as well
yea but nobody with half a brain would start it after the motor has been sittin there vertical in the air.. think about where all the oil is sitting up there..
i don,t now but i am a operator and you don t have time to jump and why jump?you don t have tiome to react beeing that close to the edge but my cuestion is if he went out of brakes,if not and he wasn t paying atencion he couldn t jump of the loader.sorry for my bad english .
It's almost ready to go over a 40ft cliff and it stopped. You don't know it's going to stop or go the rest of the way over though. If it lands on it's roof it would be certain death. I would have jumped as well and taken my chances with the fall. You guys go ahead and stay calm in the cab and they'll let your widow know "How calm you were" no thanks. This is one of those things you kinda had to be there and filming from the start or see in person as to how to handle, or honest answer about jump?
that's gotta hurt! Bad! What a sight it must been! Seeing the loader tip over, and the operator comes flying out of the cab, but keeps falling down the hill! Damn, he must be scared!
@Polywog84 Last time I checked windows and doors aren't part of the rated safety system. Seat belts and ROPS/FOPS are. Hell windows/cabs are still optional, check out new equipment for sale in warmer areas, most of it is open cab.
@Polywog84 In Norway it is mandatury to drive with the doors open, if you are going to drive a tractor on the ice. This is so that you can junp out of the machine if it goes trought the ice. Everything you do can kill you.
@john6218att the exact same thing happened to me with a telescopic pivot steer jcb only i didnt fall of a cliff, but ye cant just let the loader down because at that angle the hydrulics air locks till ye get it leveled up.............
Most likely the ground gave away under his front wheels. I have had that happen but was lucky enough not to go over. Scared the hell out of me.
