Chainsaw is not fast enough and weighs to much, when the chainsaw is hit by Jason's machete it will cause both weapons to fling back because the torque in the chainsaw. Machete will be able to be strike faster and is the more durable than a chainsaw. Simple fact is a chainsaw can also get off of track when disturbed with a strike like Jason's. Oh and who isn't to say the chain wouldn't break the first time Jason hits it. Jason wins this hands down.

@Kebab136 It wasn't based on those happenings, it was inspired by them. The movie is inspired by Ed Gein, he to would wear his victims skin as a mask, its the same serial killer "psycho" is inspired by.

He got the name Leatherface in "the beginning" because he would wear a leather mask, but there is no real answer provided by Tobe Hooper, so it remains a mystery.

Tobe Hooper named Leatherface, Bubba Sawyer out of complete randomness, the inspirational serial killer was named Ed Gein.
