Avail guitarist Joe Banks reunites with former band members Erik Larson (Alabama Thunderpussy) and Chuck McCauley (Wardance Orange) in the new band Freeman. Freeman's debut "It Doesn't Matter" is now available from iTunes.
Watching this made me feel nostalgic. Lots of awesome memories at these shows, especially hometown in Alley Katz. That was some real music. Shame I dont feel I will never see another band actually put on a show like these guys could.
Wow, this would rock to see. I did see them live a couple of times in Atlanta in the mid nineties. Have some photos from one of the shows and they are unforgettable, full stop.
@EmaJack99 I second the Over the James recommendation – Avail was at its best then, practicing every day (Lookout! was paying them enough so that they could quit their day jobs for a brief time) and writing great songs ... seeing that band several times in 1997 and 1998 was probably the best thing about living in Virginia back then
i can't count how many times i saw avail play. 15? 20? beux was, is, and always will be one of my personal hero's and one of the coolest and nicest guys i've ever met. damn i miss this band.
Unfortunately, I don't think this will ever come out. Avail is done. They haven't played live in years and haven't put out an album in like a decade. Great band. Great live show. It's sad to see them go out like this. These guys really had heart.
I. Do agree wit him,he has a point about the whole growin up with all he needed n shit but that doesn't make him a bad person,u criticise him about what he once was n not on wat he is now.were all ppl in this world, wat gives u the right to talkdown on them,so there band became famous and got up there,u sound real jealous to me.
hate to rub it in, but it's too bad you never got to see them live. Honestly, they're very easily one of the best, most intense live bands i've ever seen.
I've been waiting years for this. I hate to say it but I doubt we will ever see it. Last I heard they were finished shooting. It doesn't take years to edit a video together.
Its a documentary, not a band video. We have a ton of footage yes, but the plan is to come back to it at a later date and capture what has or hasn't changed since the first round of footage. We are currently working on another project at the moment so sorry for the delay but its gonna have to wait for now. Thanks.
I know it's a documentary;p and I'm so happy you still plan on working on it.
However, I'm not sure there is going to be much when you pick the camera back up. After hanging out with and talking to Tim over the years he seems pretty happy doing his solo thing.
I don't know if Avail will ever release the album they've been working on for a while now.
The Avail website isn't even up anymore...
Minus a random show here or there, they don't really seem to be into it anymore.
what i love about this vid not only is it Avail playing 2 of my favorite songs from them, but my brother my buddy Tabb and i are in it. Fuckin im the kid starting the one more song chant haha.
Gee Funny when you sing about hard times and talk about your dislike for the rich, when you grew up with everything you could ever need it comes off artificial and sense tim and i go back to 7 th grade i guess i know what has gone on and whats what and what is an image and what is real.
Don't let these guys fool you, they all grew up in nice big houses in Reston Va, moved to the VCU campus in Richmond when they turned 18, where they could pursue their emo careers singing about "hard knock lives" "poor me" and other such stupidities.
Though I doubt they will share any stories with you (pre 18), this documentary will probably still be funny none-the-less.
Someone gave me one of their CDs and knowing nothing about the band I loved what I heard. I can't wait to see this. I had no idea they'd been around for so long.
Looks like the Tim introducing "Front Porch Stories" was from last Friday's Virginia Beach show. That was awesome...can't wait to see this documentary.
