  • That's a gorgeous snake you have there!!! Nice Channel too! I got my first IJ a week ago, he is just 6 mos old. (He is in my profile picture) I didn't have rat pups when I brought him home so gave him what I had on hand which is mouse pinkies. I ordered rat pups and they should arrive tomorrow. I hope he will go back to rat pups easily. He won't eat in from of me. I leave it in his enclosure and it's gone by the next morning. Maybe yours doesn't like an audience when he's eating either ?

  • My baby carpet python doesn't go much on mice, but loves rats and quails ... Weird ...

  • @ssiikkpuppy dude same here, one of my males totally ignores mice and goes berserk for rats

  • My carpet python will eat mice or rats but he has never struck at any of them. I tap him with them on his nose and down near his tail but still nothing. I have to drop them in his feeding container. He'll slither around it then he will wrap it up.

  • I'm very lucky, all my snakes have jumped over to rat really easy.

    Good luck with it!

  • you have to cool him down for a few months during winter then first thing u feed him is a rat and he will start eating them, for mine at least

  • Where did u get him from???

  • Awesome can u do another one of u holding it plz

  • Nice Jag man. Beautiful snake. Maybe one day we can have leucistic jags, whenever they find out what is killing them that is.

  • cool I wasn't having a go or anything, sorry dude I got carried away. How did u solve the rat thing?

  • you should look at getting him a larger enclosure and a proper heat source as you only have one light in there and also get a larger water bowl. My snake only eats mice as well, it's wierd how they do that sometimes, if you want him to eat a rat get a mouse and feed it to him and when he gets to the end and when he opens his mouth just pop it in there and he should just keep going, that's the technique I use when I feed mine rats, just thought it might help.

  • @Ryanluvshispython As much as I appreciate that you are trying to help, PLEASE before you post check other videos, this is like a year old. 1) Waterbowl size was fine. 2) Heat source was fine, I really dont get what youre saying a "proper heat source" all my 9 Carpet Pythons eat and shed fine with these apparent "improper" heat sources.. This snake is 6 feet long now and eating 150 Gram rats. His mouse feeding was resolved April 2009.

  • @PDDM89 lol I thought this enclosure size was perfect for him and the heat source is fine... I dont know what could be improper about it. LOVE your snake... send him here :D lol He is beautiful seriously. I have a question... some people say jungles are snappy... some people also say GCC are nippy birds LOL but I think its all interpretation... i.e. are they actually snappy, or is it a matter of they arent adverse to giving a bite if hungry or surprised or just not in the mood for handling?

  • @gigglewhippet Id say Jungles are definitly snappy when young, they seem to be angrier babies than Coastal, Bredli,Diamond and Jayas. Ive never worked with a tame baby and Ive seen pretty aggressive/jumpy adults.

  • @PDDM89 Ok well sorry mate, i didnt mean to offend, i didnt check how old this vid is. Soz

  • @PDDM89 wait how did you solve it? what waqs the problem?

  • very nice carpet. where did you get him very?

  • What a beutiful snake! are they friendly? Im thinking of getting one.

  • Hey man great snake? Whats the probable clutch if you cross a jungle jag with a jungle? Does both jungles and jungle/jags come out or it comes a cross again?

  • @ArtiDecay Jaguar mutation is Co-Dom in carpets, Mines a Jungle jag which means its more Jungle than coastal, anything other than a Coastal Jag is a cross as the jag mutation was found in coastals first, then people started breeding these coastal jags to jungles, bredli, irian jaya and even diamond, any jag other than a coastal jag is a cross technically, reason why people do it is because the colour of the cross jags is usually much nicer.

  • @ArtiDecay and the anything that is not a jag in the clutch is a jag sibling, simply just a cross with no morph..Some crosses can be beautiful but people dont pay much because they refer to them as mutts (even though jags are just prettier mutts)

  • Don't know if you've been able to switch him over yet. But try "braining" the rat. Take a thumb tack or a knife and stick it through the rats skull into the brain to get the juices flowing a bit and that should do it. I had to do it with some BP's and red tails at my work. It works really well.

  • i have a Morelia Mcdowelli and it took a while before she wanted to take rats.

I had to give her alive rat babys or she wouldnt take them .

Now she eats both dead and alive rats !

  • @KalouAndJay Hes mostly Jungle but hes also Coastal hes 5 feet atm, but I estimate he'll get to 7 feet.

  • Why do you need to get him to switch to rats?

Ive heard of people having trouble switching them but why do it anyway?

Genuinely interested, not having a go!

  • @pirez1986

Its alright, I like answering questions. The primary reason that I have atleast for getting boids on rats is that Boids get large (most of them atleast) and mice stop growing at around 35-45 grams, Where as rats go all the way to 500 grams lol. So rather than feeding him 6 mice (once hes 6-7 feet long) id like to just feed one large rat, easier and cheaper.

  • @pirez1986

from my Pov it is beqause if i wouldnt change over to rats my Mcdowelli would eat 3 mice/week instead of 1 middle sized rat, so for me its cheeper beq i farm the rats but i buy the mice !. I still give her a mice now and then though beq they are lower on fat !

  • wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.all i can say. how much is 1 of these gonna run me ?

  • @rrredzzz an '10 probably 300-500, its a co-dom gene, so theyre getting easier to find, but prices can vary depending on lineage and colour.

  • how much $ do these guys run ? ive got my dream pastel rtd, and i think my next snake is gonna be a carpet.

dip ur rat pups in chicken broth

  • how big is he and how big do they get

  • But we do say ehh!!! i love canada

  • lol i hope my boa dont have any trouble switching:( but thankyou,i now know that for when i get a carpet python i will be feeding it straight of rat pups.:)

  • BEAUTIFUL. I want one!=)

  • i bought a ball python female, gonna try to get her feeding on rats, she wolfs down mice, just wont touch the rats gonna try scenting the rats and stuff for feeding this weekend..see how it goes

  • Dude from australia were jungles live i have a junglexdarwin capet 7ft keep puting rats in he will get use to them

  • Also, I was wondering, do you handle him between feedings. He looks as if everytime you open the door to his cage food is coming. Please be sure to handle him to keep him tame unless he's going to think you are going to feed him everytime you appear.

  • Those snakes really dont need humidity. They are austrailian snakes. I dont recommend those snakes for beginners. Ball Pythons, cornsnakes, and rosy and kenyan boas are better for beginners. Not that I'm saying it's not possible to use them for beginner snakes. I had a boa constrictor as my first.

  • try live rats

  • my jcp dose that to mice!! ffs

  • Awesome snake!!! I am working on getting one now. How much did you pay for him? Please respond!

  • wow this thing is beautiful!!!!!

  • I got bredli's and cheynei. I've seen a juvenile jungle jag at the reptileshop here and he's next for my collection, awsome snake.

Sorry to inform you about this but if you want this snake to die young you should continue feeding him every four to six days like you said you do in the video. Not good my friend. AT LEAST one week till the next feeding or you'll seriously mess up his digestion system. Hope you'll concider checking this.

  • All I was doing was maxing out his growth rate. Now he eats every ten days, I follow a plan with young snakes, feed them small preys more often takes less of a toll on their digestive system

  • was just tryin to warn you all best to you and the jungle jag mate... :)

  • What the fuck are you smoking? Feeding 4-6 days is a little excessive, but not extreme. Especially when theyre young that amount of extra food will not do any damage.

4 days is pushing it, but you think 6 days makes that big of a difference compared to a 7 day wait?

Lastly, feeding them excessively will not destroy their digestive tract. If anything, excess growth in combination with organ failure will get to them.

Think about what you want to say next time before you say something stupid.

  • Stupid yank, is that all you people can say ? What the fuck are you smoking ??? Feed whatever you want to your snakes mate. And get an education before you call me stupid you illiterate inbred mongoloid. And by the way, what you say is nonsnense. And EXCESSIVE for morelia's !!

  • p.s. i'm thinking about adding a carpet python to my collection if you can give me some advice or web sites i can go too that would be great

  • i know what your talkin about my burmese was on jumbo mice ,he strikes rats and then disgards them .now hes on a small guinnie pig every 2weeks, where as one of my boa constrictors eats anything i put in front of him!

  • I have a jag sibling who wont eat rats either!!!! How weird!!!! Beautiful looking guy tho!! How old is he in this vid?

  • i want i jaguar carpet phyton :)

  • if the hr 669 bill passes im going to canada!

i subbed you, check out my jcp female vid

  • lol i doubt itll pass but if it did i would deffinatly move to canada xD

  • if u dont get him to rats try to feed him baby rabbits.

one of my snakes wouldnt eat rats but will eat rabbits

  • nice actually =p

  • people though that us canadians said aboot? haha that sounds funny awesome Jag

  • HE IS GORGEOUS! Hope he switches to rats for you!

  • woot go canada !!!!!!!!!!!

  • I hope he does too, Ive heard so much about 04 ball pythons smaller than 1000 grams cause they refuse rats and only eat jumbo adult mice. Its not that bad now as a jumbo mouse is still good for him, but hopefully he'll jump to rats soon.

  • is a jungle carpet python a good begginer snake?

  • no its not
