  • hey I just got my oil pressure gauge, (got it used ) when I hooked the yellow and red to a +12v and the black to a ground, the gauge lit up but stayed at the 100 psi mark. Is that normal ? Or is this thing broke.( this is without the pressure sender hooked up btw)

  • @maxspeed96ct you should call the company you bought it from

  • they even look cool when they're off!

  • is this the tinted 7 color?

  • nice gauges. I just checked out your build it looked like it was a long painful process. I love the rims btw!

  • @skateblklabel Thank you! And yes, it was one hell of a rough build, considering I started with no knowledge and just learned as I went along.

  • Hi, yes i only have one in my car, and actually it doesnt remenber the color, i dont know if i have to do something more or what :S

  • sick shet dude

  • @Killerspree14 Thanks man!

  • @heratikx yea np. i just like your video for having the guages on that position because the other vds i seen are not good ): ur style kills it xD can't wait till i get sum of those.

  • Hi, what i have to do, to make my gauge remember the color?? i cant do that, it always star in the first color... need some help with that please lol

  • @ajhb91 do yours have two positive connections for your gauge?

  • @ajhb91 ...strange. I disconnected all of mine and reconnected, and they still remembered the color. Do you have one gauge or more? I'm curious to see if this is just a defect or if it's built differently than mine.

  • @heratikx maybe there is a default color that it always comes up as and you picked that one. Did you try this with different colors?

  • @dlite922 I tried this with almost all the colors except purple. I even had it red, white, and blue for a while just for kicks.

  • do all gagues do tat the changing color wen u press it.......?????

  • @IIModifyII Yes they do. They also remember the color even if you disconnect them from the battery!

  • in what order are the guages?

  • @bobdudle123211 Top to bottom: Vac/boost, oil pressure, volts.

  • WAT GAUGES DO U HAVE?

  • @JUNEORJUNE Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. Vac/boost, oil pressure, and volts. I later added a wideband.

  • Yeah, you can put gauges in any car. even if your bone stock they are still a good idea since they help you protect your investment by letting you monitor important parameters.

  • @cyclist14 but i do hate when ricers put turbo gauges in non boosted cars. ahah literally just buy the housing and the gauge. put it in and not full connect it so it just sits there. i see it all the time.

  • @cyclist14 although i hate when ppl put turbo gauges in a non boosted car. which they dont actually hook it up it just sits there. see it all the time

  • hey im building a tiburon to im not very familure with tiburons, i just got it it v6 to, wanted to know where did u tap into the vacuum line for the boost / vac guage?

  • what are they for and do i need them if i have a turbo and boost controler

  • that looooks mint!

  • wow i like it...nice work

    5*

when i got my licence i want one too

  • OK i wasn't sure if you had this on the intake or pressure side.

  • why does your boost gauge set below zero(vaccuum) at idle. wouldn't it be zero?

  • Ugh, no dude, the engine creates a vacuum when running because it is pulling air in through the intake.

  • are those gauges for turbo cars?or are they used in regular cars?

  • Ok, I appreciate the comments guys, but you are making me facepalm pretty bad here. They can be in any car, but don't do you much good if you don't need to monitor this stuff on your car (in other words, no need if your car is not heavily modded).

  • would they be needed in a car with stock twin turbo

  • @fatdudefoshizzle

they're always nice to have...but i wouldnt be too concerned unless you plan on making changes (like adding bolt on's, other parts or anything that changes the cars tune.)

  • @heratikx hey i jsut bought a supercharged v6 tib, got glow shift oil press guage, it reads 2psi on idle....normal for tuburons?? i put 5 quarts of oil in on the oil change..... it reads about 80 on normal driving. pushing it will get it up to about 90 psi..... but on idle when i come to a stop it hits 2psi....bad? normal? add oil?? what? i heard from glowshoft normal car idle should be 10 and 20psi

  • @DSM4LIFE20g Should definitely NOT be reading 2psi @ idle. I seriously doubt your car would be running I believe it should be more like 25-30psi. Check your connections and your power wires. Are you reading from a sensor on a sandwich plate?

  • @heratikx ya that's what I thought to. I am running the electriacal off a sandwhih plate and the oil pressure sender. I put 5 quarts of oil in but idles at 2psi. No knocking sounds from engine. I even checked the dip stick after car was off over night and it was at normal level on the dip stick. Not sure why it reads 2psi the the guage I'm using is glow shift 7 black series. Ground is ran directly to battery neg terminal.

  • @Slobodan488 It also can be used for (Oil Tepeture, RMP, MPH etc)* Not just for Turbos :)

  • how much did those cost?

  • After everything, I think I was in about $170 or so (I had to buy an oil filter sandwich plate to run the pressure line)

  • looks wicked

how'd you fix them so clean in the a pillar?

  • Thanks man. it's actually a shell for the gauges that slips over the entire pillar, giving it a seamless look. I'm sure you could find one quickly on ebay.

  • Thanks dude. It's just a premade kit for the tib.

  • Hey man, like you, ive worked on my car and learned from trial and error.I thought about getting gauges to get good readings but seeing as how the economy is pretty bad at the moment I wasn't sure about the glowshift 7 series, or glowshift in general from all the bad shit i've heard about it. How long have you been using them now?Anyway hit me up whenever you can. I'm interested in these and might give them a go.

  • What's up. I have had great success with these glowshift gauges -- volt, vac/boost, and oil pressure. Never had even the slightest hiccup with any of them since they were installed. They read accurately and I have been using them for almost exactly a year now.

  • when you set a color does that color come on when you start the car back up or do you have to reset the color

  • It remembers the color.

  • hmm...dont know why mine doesnt....

  • Sounds like you don't have a gauge wire hooked up to the right constant power wire.

  • what do you mean....i have tap mine into my panel fuse so when i turn on my lights they come on..i have volt and vacumm the guages itself work fine but just when i turn the lights off and on i have to set the color again....what should i hook the light to the ECU or something

  • there is a switched power and a constant power the constant power is hooked up to something that works without flipping a switch and when the car is off i.e the battery itself

  • hey they look nice but just wondering are this thing illegal in the united state because at night i belive it lights a lot?

  • Ha, that's a new one. No, not illegal. They are not that bright at all, but I'm sure it helps make me a cop target on the roads. I just try to keep the speed under control and don't do anything dumb, and they leave me alone.

Everything is legal on my car except the exhaust, which I am working on quieting down. My goal is to have a quick little street car that is also a perfectly legal and comfortable DD.

  • nice! you can change color!!! my brother has i think mad dog? and some other ones he has 7 on them but couldn't install one because it is very hard he has a 07 sti:)

  • What brand gauges are those?

  • Glowshift. I catch a lot of shit for them (see below), but honestly, they've been perfectly reliable and responsive, and I have no plans on changing them out.

  • It's good to hear that our products are reliable and accurate.

  • Nice. Thanks for stopping in to check out my vid, Glowshift!

  • i have them too no complaints here

  • Where did you learn how to do this kind of stuff did you go to college and take classes

  • haha, no but thanks. Trial and error, my friend. I pulled my engine twice for a clutch replacement (first one was defective), custom-turbo'd my car, and installed everything else completely by myself (obviously with the occasional friend's help). Obviously, the internet was a great resource for information, but I learned most of what I know by just having the balls to jump right in and learn through experience.

  • oh are they the tinted kind of just the black gauge

  • These are the tinted7 series.

  • wouldn't it be good to get the black rather than tint just in case the light goes out within a year or so?

  • Haha, from what Vash is saying, that's a definite possibility with these gauges. Ya live and learn I guess.

Yeah, might be a good to get a set that can be seen without the lights...however, if I were running a gauge that was faulty, I would really be more worried about the possibility of a bad readout, so I'd probably change it out before I would worry about seeing it if the light breaks.

  • what would be best for the gauges? oil pressure is something that I need but what other 2 is possible important to have.

  • You've got a TON of choices, which I don't have time to list here. But I wouldn't recommend gauges unless you have a reason to have them. That's about as rice as you can get, as Vash pointed out below. The only difference is that I haven't had problems with these gauges, whereas I guess Vash has heard a lot of bad things about glowshift. Once the weather gets nicer I will be pairing these to more reliable gauges to check the accuracy. Until then, they do the job for me just fine.

  • I hate the term rice...yes I have reason, I just can't decide because all this will do is help me understand how things are running under the hood..

  • ...o..k...When you've witnessed guys riding down the road with vinyls all over a beat up civic, mile high spoiler, magically lighting the ground beneath them, lambo doors up (yes, while driving), and cut springs (not to mention accents of rust along the fenders), then you would agree that there is no slang term that's off limits for these guys. It's as much about the attitude as it is the car.

  • true and they should be a limit on how much one should do to their car. overdueing it is bad but just a small portion here in there is fine in my book.

  • Meh, limit or not it doesn't really matter to me. I've seen some respectable-yet visually extreme cars tear it up at the track (for their class). I just hate snot-nosed punks who think they're hot shit "rollin'" in cars like I mentioned above. Like I said, it's as much about the attitude as it is the car itself.

  • Ah screw it...I'll list a few for ya...

Are you boosted? If so, oil pressure, egt, oil temp, boost/vac, and a wideband are a necessity. Aside from that, there isn't really any need for any of these gauges or any others.

  • EDIT: (Jumped the gun before reading your full post).

The only thing I will point out here is that these gauges have been great and still read perfectly to this day. Oh, also, I am boosted. Check my other vids. To each their own...I understand where you're coming from...there are too many ricers on the street. Fortunately, I'm not one of 'em.

  • i like their style they look really modern

  • glowshifts are nice, i had them before. only thing i dont like about them is most of them are electrical except for the boost gauges and their a/f gauges are only narrowband. great for a show car but if u want relle accurate gauges go with autometer. but even still glowshifts are great for the money. i had the standard tinted series.

  • cheers mate, the quick responses are greatly appreciated. all the best and looking forward to some new updates :)

  • are the gauge faces visible during the day as they are tinted or only visible when illuminated?

  • They are visible all the time. Some colors don't show up well in the daytime (red, purple, dark blue), but the light blue, yellow, white, and green are definitely bright enough to see during the day.

  • great setup mate, love the colour changing option. what brand of gauges are they and could you recommend where i could purchase some for myself? cheers ;)

  • Thanks! They are Glowshift gauges...I believe it is the "tinted 7" series. You can just do an ebay search on "glowshift" and you should find them pretty easily. Good luck with your projects!
