I met my second husband at the gym.He was a body builder too! He is 12 years older than me. He was completly opposite of my ex! He was not my "type" but after our first date, I was hooked! He was so honest and he also would call me and have a date planned out. It's funny how similar our story is..:-)

Thanks for sharing your story Lisa. I do think that you are blessed for a happy ending. But I think that every love story is unique and finding mr right isn't a puzzle piece coming together. Sometimes it could but other times relationships are a lot of work. Some people fall in love too fast and they realize that is not the right person. sometimes ppl date for years and realize that this is the best person for them.

We had talked on the phone for a week prior to meeting (we were set up on a blind date) so we felt like we knew EVERYTHING about each other before we met. Your statement "how everything just fell into place" really hit home! I was married a long time the first time and everything was a struggle....getting him to do anything was a chore, even getting married was pretty much only my idea. I was with my ex for 7 and a half years, there was a lot of terror and violence in those years and when I walked out the door to head back to my mum & dad's I was a shell of a person. The Sarah Coventry jewelry was indeed popular in the 70's. I was a young girl, so couldn't afford much of it, but did have a few pieces from my mom. They used to have jewelry parties. But yes, everything comes back around.

Happy story. Better than' the notebook'. I have been married for 20 years. I met my husband when I was 21. He was my (single) boss at work. I had been dumped 6 months earlier by a boyfriend and had been heartbroken. Looking back I can see we actually only had 3 good initial months together then I was chasing to keep him. When I started dating my husband I knew in 6 weeks I would marry him. He chased me. we would arrange to meet and he would arrive 5 mins early to wait for me, he still does.

p.s. That's definitely a non-negotiable, thanks to previous boyfriends. Someone who is very upfront with me. Self-assured. A previous BF would always lie to spare my feelings. I think he sort of wavered, because the truth would always slide out later, gently..with a smile. That he didn't actually want to do such-and-such. Sometimes after it was already done or even as we were doing it. I think he actually felt he was being a good guy. But quickly began to feel very disrespectful. :-/
I think that's sexy too. I like people who are sure of themselves. I don't think of that as him taking charge (telling you exactly what he wants to do on the date) as much as knowing exactly what he wants and not being afraid to voice it.

This is such a good message although I've been questioning the relationship of mine and my boyfriend of almost two years for some time now. I'm only 17 , but I feel so in love and i will do anything for him, but at the same time we argue ALOT and its a struggle to make things work. My mom has an antique store in the Midwest and every time I visit I bring back vintage jewlery. I love the look of old pieces, how they were made, what they were made of, and that they're so unique. I wish I had seen the signs and left a bad relationship in my 20's but no, I thought I could fix it, older wiser, single, 40's and finally happy now.

I completely agree about warning signs and how things are when you're dating. When I was dating my current husband I had to chase him and almost make him love me and right after we got married he found another girl and told her that he wished he could be with her. He treated me terrible when we dated and it's been only worse while we've been married. Now I resent him for all of it. DO NOT chase a man. If he is resistant to the relationship RUN!! It won't get any better.
I loved this video. Reminds me of me and my hubby of 14 years. I also wanted to say that I'm a nurse at a retirement center, and I have a resident who LOVES butterflies. I bought her a mint condition Sarah Coventry brooch this past Christmas (2011) that was a silver butterfly. It's gorgeous and was made in the 1950's, which she loved because it reminded her of her deceased husband whom she married in 1950. There's a lot to be said about vintage and family jewelry passed from those we love.

But I will add that fighting isn't necessarily a bad thing. If someone is generally happy in a relationship but fights, it may bring the couple closer. Don't be me and waste so much time. Follow your heart and be happy. I am now 35 and divorced. It is hard but your kids will be better if mom is happy.
What a great story. I met my husband when I was married to someone else. A year later we met again and dated for about 9 months. I broke up with him and then found out I was 4 months pregnant. I had the baby and raised her alone without him. When she was 4 she wanted to meet him so I called him and he came to see her. Once we started to get to know each other again I just knew. After time apart we both grew up and now it's 12 yrs. later and 2 more daughters and we are true soul mates forever.

Thanks for sharing your story Lisa. I do think that you are blessed for a happy ending. But I think that every love story is unique and finding mr right isn't a puzzle piece coming together. Sometimes it could but other times relationships are a lot of work. Some people fall in love too fast and they realize that is not the right person. sometimes ppl date for years and realize that this is the best person for them.

I'm 34yrs. old (on Jan.9)and my Husband and I have been together since I was 17yrs. old!!! We met Jan.27 1995 and started dating on Jan.29 1995. We had talked on the phone for a week prior to meeting (we were set up on a blind date) so we felt like we knew EVERYTHING about each other before we met. We just celebrated being together 17 yrs. on Jan. 29,2012. Our 13yr. wedding ann. is in April. We feel we are each other's BEST friend and LOVE spending time together. I'm so HAPPY for you!!

Your statement "how everything just fell into place" really hit home! I was married a long time the first time and everything was a struggle....getting him to do anything was a chore, even getting married was pretty much only my idea. My blessed husband now, HE asked, HE helped plan everything and everything "just fell into place"....it wasn't all me and it wasn't "work", you know what I mean? He's 13 years my junior, we have 2 children together and life is the best it has ever been for me.

That is so true about what you said re- arguing, making all the effort and having an on/off r'ship. You then know its never going to work. My sister is in a similar situation. She married a guy who wasn't right for her and blatantly ignored the warning signs. I hope she doesn't get divorced but who knows what the future holds?

I was with my ex for 7 and a half years, there was a lot of terror and violence in those years and when I walked out the door to head back to my mum & dad's I was a shell of a person. Hi Lisa, I can't believe how similar our stories are. I think we are the same age, I will be 42 in March and my second husband is 14 years older than me, and he goes to the gym every day and our friends set us up, also we are Christians and we also did not live together until we were married. We dated 6 years before we got married, and now we are going on our fourth year of marriage (10 years ) total. The Sarah Coventry jewelry was indeed popular in the 70's. I was a young girl, so couldn't afford much of it, but did have a few pieces from my mom. They used to have jewelry parties. But yes, everything comes back around.

Happy story. Better than' the notebook'. I have been married for 20 years. I met my husband when I was 21. He was my (single) boss at work. I had been dumped 6 months earlier by a boyfriend and had been heartbroken. Looking back I can see we actually only had 3 good initial months together then I was chasing to keep him. When I started dating my husband I knew in 6 weeks I would marry him. He chased me. we would arrange to meet and he would arrive 5 mins early to wait for me, he still does.

p.s. That's definitely a non-negotiable, thanks to previous boyfriends. Someone who is very upfront with me. Self-assured. A previous BF would always lie to spare my feelings. I think he sort of wavered, because the truth would always slide out later, gently..with a smile. That he didn't actually want to do such-and-such. Sometimes after it was already done or even as we were doing it. I think he actually felt he was being a good guy. But quickly began to feel very disrespectful. :-/

This is such a good message although I've been questioning the relationship of mine and my boyfriend of almost two years for some time now. I'm only 17 , but I feel so in love and i will do anything for him, but at the same time we argue ALOT and its a struggle to make things work. And by the time we met, we both had feelings for one another, and found out more things we had in comon, and how much we loved being around eachother. We went out and dated for about two years, and were engaged for one year. Now we'll be married ten years this april, and have a 2 y/o son, and one on the way (due in August) And we still are best friedns to this day. My mom has an antique store in the Midwest and every time I visit I bring back vintage jewlery. I love the look of old pieces, how they were made, what they were made of, and that they're so unique. I wish I had seen the signs and left a bad relationship in my 20's but no, I thought I could fix it, older wiser, single, 40's and finally happy now.

I completely agree about warning signs and how things are when you're dating. When I was dating my current husband I had to chase him and almost make him love me and right after we got married he found another girl and told her that he wished he could be with her. He treated me terrible when we dated and it's been only worse while we've been married. Now I resent him for all of it. DO NOT chase a man. If he is resistant to the relationship RUN!! It won't get any better.

I loved this video. Reminds me of me and my hubby of 14 years. I also wanted to say that I'm a nurse at a retirement center, and I have a resident who LOVES butterflies. I bought her a mint condition Sarah Coventry brooch this past Christmas (2011) that was a silver butterfly. It's gorgeous and was made in the 1950's, which she loved because it reminded her of her deceased husband whom she married in 1950. There's a lot to be said about vintage and family jewelry passed from those we love.

Lisa, I just love seeing this side of you. Please do more videos like this, and often! You need to, you have so much to offer! I agree with everything that you said about finding Mr.Right. But I will add that fighting isn't necessarily a bad thing. If someone is generally happy in a relationship but fights, it may bring the couple closer. They say things, then "kiss and make-up" Relationships/marriages are a constant work in progress!

What a great story. I met my husband when I was married to someone else. A year later we met again and dated for about 9 months. I broke up with him and then found out I was 4 months pregnant. I had the baby and raised her alone without him. When she was 4 she wanted to meet him so I called him and he came to see her. Once we started to get to know each other again I just knew. After time apart we both grew up and now it's 12 yrs. later and 2 more daughters and we are true soul mates forever.

Lisa ~ this is the BEST advice in the world to give to anyone who thinks they might not be married to the right person and they are afraid to act or thinks the person for them is not out there. I couldn't agree with you more with the things you said. Love your honesty and ability to say it simply. Loved hearing all that :) I've been divorced 14 years, as long as I was married. I'm a much slower learner than you! Still hoping to find someone who fits like that, and so helpful to hear a positive story. It is what I believe is possible, so great to hear the affirmation.
