  • thanks for the info.pity the UK doesn't get much sun.question-can the inverter connect directly to the charge controller? and what is the charging time for the batteries.

Thanks for watching The Survival Report!

  • Thank you for your answer. Could you tell me what size generator you use with the xantrex 1500? The reason I ask is the manual on my DR3624 says not to use a portable gene. I don't understand why. yours xantrex is 120v AC in, how many AMP do you need to put in.

  • @momentospm We have used one a good bit larger than 6KW without a problem. I would have to assume that their might be more chances of voltage flucuations with a small portable contractor type generator. Call or email Xantrex and ask them.

  • Hi, Thank you for the video, after it, we got a xantrex DR3624 do you know if we can conect a 6000 watts 8750 surge portable generator britts & stratton to the xantrex to charge the battery bank.

  • @momentospm I'm not familiar with that exact model but I don't see why not. If your asking because the generator produces more watts than the inverter, the inverter will only take what it can.

  • Very nice series- Good info and well thought-out video. Thanks Robert Henery.

  • How big is the disconnect box? 30 or 60 amp?

  • this is a bad set up. sloppy and is a big bomb batterys give off gas and the inverter is light the gas and boom good bye. never put you batterys in the same room as your inverter.

  • @myhouse341 Yep your right. Heck it's exploded 23 times in the almost 7 years that system has been in place. My system exploded 338 times in the last 11 years it's been in operation. Helen Keller would have noticed the WINDOW sitting right near the battery bank, even if she missed the one next to it. The slats in the floor boards can't be seen in the video but are there. I wonder how the "light" from the inverter is going to blow up gas?

  • @myhouse341 Just rewatching the previous video on this system I made extremely clear 2 or 3 times than the battery bank was vented.

  • how many panels do you need to use this inverter?

  • @CCDeer1960 You don't "need" any panels to use the inverter, you could use generator power on the AC in side of the inverter as your power source. ANY amount of panels could be used as input to the battery bank. The inverter is rated to 1,500 watts but that's AC. Panels are a DC power source.

  • isnt there a special power box out there so you don't have to get standard batteries and you get much better saved power?

  • So the inverter makes 1500 watts regardless of battery? I was under the impression that you needed a certain size battery to make that happen but it seems that is not the case. Also I was thinking of getting a 1Kw solar panel. Would this be too much power to run into a battery bank or just overkill? It seems having 200-300 watts worth of solar panels is fairly good.

  • Nice set-up - GREAT capacity on everything except you have just that one 120 watt panel. If you had another (240 watts total) that would make a huge difference.

  • what can you run and for how long? could I use this for a homesteading thing to run freezer, PC, fans and what not?

  • There is a small fridge at the hunting camp but it only gets used every so often. To use it regularly would require a little more input from more panels or a more regular charge via a generator. This system runs 3-4 ceiling fans for a weekend with no problems. It's a SMALL system but it will do a lot if folks conserve and make smart choices with appliances.

  • Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. Great help.

  • Thanks for watching!

  • excellent video's, so informative, thank you

  • great video, thanks

  • Appreciate the nice comments, thank you! SR

  • Part 5 now up, sorry for the mixup!

  • Uh oh!!! Thanks for the heads up. It WAS loaded previous to six.... Will work on it asap, probably not till tomorrow though. Sorry for the slip up

  • no prob. enjoy your vids, vrey informative. what wattage can that inverter put out?

  • Thanks bro! Other should be loading now. Might be really late tonite or tomorrow am. Inverter is a DR1512, 1500 watt inverter. Surges to 2,400 IIRC, don't quote me on that...

  • part 6? where's part 5?
